Colorado Rib Steak
It took forever for the waiter to come. We ordered a lobster cocktail for appetizer which was good. However, we had a porter house for 2 which I highly emphasized that I want it medium-rate. It came medium-well/well-done, no one ever bothered to come and ask if the food was good or the steak is cooked like we ordered. Never going again.
This steak house is a reliable, friendly place to see friends for dinner or to have a party. The menu is all very good. You will get what you expect every time and never go home unhappy or hungry.
Miss the Philadelphia location so when I visit NY I have to come and get a quality steak
We were celebrating our 55th. wedding anniversary. We haven’t been here in years but we will not wait so long to return.
The food and service were wonderful. We shared the lobster cocktail , the wedge salad, and the prime rib. Our waiter recommended the coconut cake which my husband ate and loved. I had the cheese cake, which was also excellent.
My only issue was how dark the room was. We had to use our iphone flash lights to read the menu and see our food.
It was really too dark.
Birthday and been here plenty and always enjoy… prices though, quite steep for family of 4.
First in-person, business dinner with executives. Excellent restaurant / experience to launch into the “new” normal.
The restaurant was busy but a place like S&W should be able to handle a crowd. We had to ask continuously for service, from incorrect drink order to water refills. Our waiter unfortunately was virtually absent.
Thank you so much for accommodating our sons special needs so effortlessly and graciously . We had a wonderful evening! Still our favorite NYC tradition!
It’s very important as people returns to know who you’re genuine loyal clients were…
The outside door kept slamming. The heat went on. The filet minion was tough. We left without completing our meal.
Great service and excellent food. My waiter was amazing and kind..
Porterhouse was very bland, service was really slow
I have been coming to Smith & Wollensky for years and was very pleased when they opened back up in 2021. The steak quality is still fantastic and I tried the whipped potatoes and they were amazing. The waitstaff made our experience even better. I was happy to be back at such an iconic and classic New York steakhouse.
We had such a wonderful night at Smith & Wollensky! We had just gotten engaged in Central Park just prior to our reservation and the staff at Smith & Wollensky was so excited for us and treated us like royalty! We are so grateful for everything and very happy with our overall experience. The food was DELICIOUS, the staff was INCREDIBLE and the atmosphere was perfect. I would recommend S & W to anyone.
It was great to see the restaurant back. It's a classic and is outstanding. The hosts were welcoming (old friends), waiter Frank was attentive, and the food was at its usual very high standard, very enjoyable level. It was a thoroughly delightful return to the restaurant after the long pandemic-induced hiatus.
I love this place! I think you get the best steak anywhere in NYC and that’s saying something. The staff are real pro’s. They know their stuff and make you feel great about your dining experience and evening out. There is no pretension at S and W - just an amazing atmosphere and phenomenal food. Celebrating my son’s academic success, finishing his Jr. year on high honor roll and the Maitre D sent over cheesecake on the house! Classy touch. I can’t wait to go again!
The sides and appetizers were excellent, but my sirloin steak was pretty much tasteless and a tad tough. A little tough is OK, but "not much flavor" is unacceptable.
Been dreaming of their ribeye for over an year. Wow taste i’ve been missing glad they back and I saw return soon!
Fue excelente y la carne estaba a punto ,que era lo que buscaba
This place once the best steak in town has lost it. Beef was off. Service was poor. Let’s hope it his is more about post COVID than the new norm.
Enjoyed dinner with my daughter during her first visit to NYC. I hadn’t eaten at S&W for almost 20 years, but it was just as delicious and welcoming as I remember it. Such a friendly, professional staff.
This is a great old fashioned New York City restaurant. Our service was great. We decided to embrace the whole 70's steakhouse vibe of the place. My wife's clams casino was great. My daughter and I each had a wedge salad with tomato. The wedge was very good and the tomato might have been as good a tomato as I've ever had -- certainly the best I've had in May -- a month not known for great tomatoes. My daughter's filet mignon au Poivre was as good as it gets. My wife and I both ordered end cuts of prime rib and they were both very disappointing. Not of the texture and quality one would expect for the price and reputation of the place. Not bad enough to send back (in my mind it would have cast a pall on the whole experience). I can't help but wonder, since we were early diners, if it hadn't been a reheated holdover from the night before. Would I recommend the restaurant to a friend? Yes, but with an asterisk. I'm hoping ours was an isolated experience.
Food perfectly prepared, tasty. Service outstanding. It’s a must repeat.
Excellent consistent food every time I visit. Bread was cold and butter hard but minor inconveniences compared to the amazing steaks. The thick cut smokehouse bacon appetizer is a must have. Every restaurant should offer this appetizer.
Smith & Wollensky staff -- we missed you!!! So happy you reopened in time for us to celebrate our 25th anniversary with you. Food was amazing. THANK YOU FOR MAKING IT SPECIAL!
Filet was tender, creamed spinach delicious and great onion rings. Superb service, too. We've dined there before and will again.
Karl was our waiter, he was professional, courteous, attentive. We’re talkative and he was very nice! The food is always amazing here. My husband had the prime rib, I had the Colorado rib eye, my daughter had the filet mignon with a lobster tail. We also had the seafood appetizers, creamed spinach, mashed potatoes. Two bottles of the Pinot Grigio. Expensive but delicious!
Everythimg was Delicious! Love the food and the people!
They were very accommodating
The food was great!
The food was phenomenal and so was the service. The 32 ounce Bone in Ribeye has NOT missed a beat! I came up from Florida to dine there and I was NOT Disappointed!!
They ran out of prime rib before 8pm. Their signature dish and the only reason we went.
We all need a rebirth after abs during Covid. Smith and Wollensky’s is that rebirth! Get there and soak it all in. There’s no better place out there! Best food, best see ice, best team of employees and management. Escape for a few hours and enjoy!
So glad Smith and Wollensky is back! Wonderful dining experience as always
Having eaten there prior to the pandemic, I was disappointed by both the service and the quality of the food upon my return when the pandemic allowed for outdoor seating.
While the cut of meat (sirloin steak) was ok, it seemed like it had been cooked a while ago and re-heated for the table. The asparagus was tough, and the fried calamari far from the light and fluffier type of batter I had recalled from previous visits. The service was ok--had to be reminded several times to fill water glasses, didn't clear away plates between appetizers and main course until main course arrived although appetizers had long been eaten. All in all a poor experience at a location that I have rated highly rated previously. Perhaps "re-opening" pains? I hope so, otherwise a well run and high quality steak house is ready to be taken off the 'must eat at" list. That would be sad.
One of my favorite restaurants! The food The service! Always great!
