Smith & Wollensky - New York
Although Smith & Wollensky has earned its reputation as the quintessential steakhouse, the menu is varied and offers many options beyond the signature exemplary steaks. Guests can also select from a variety of market-fresh seafood, poultry, and lamb. Delicious side dishes complete the meal, such as creamed spinach, hashed browns, and seasonal vegetables. The irresistible dessert selection ends the meal on a memorable note with a variety of decadent, housemade cakes, sorbets, and ice creams.

Medium rare steaks were medium well. Martini was warm. Total disappointment.
In all the years here, best meal EVER!
The prime rib was big, expensive, lukewarm, and tasteless.
Gentleman who was at front desk was rude waiter service was fair at best. Pea soup had an aftertaste And Caesar salad had too much dressing on it!
Wonderful food, atmosphere and service. “Old school”
Best service, best food, period!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Unimpressed for a NY steakhouse steak wasn’t cooked as ordered service was poor won’t be going back
Both the food and the service were excellent. The ambiance was of a real east coast steakhouse, especially the waiter’s’ uniforms. All in all a great dinner.
Celebrating both of our daughters birthdays.
One of the worst steaks that I’ve ever had. The waiter recommended to order the prime rib and it tasted like a piece of meat taken out of a yesterday’s soup. Service was poor, the waiter accidentally touched with his back and dropped the bread basket while walking by, so this basket was left unnoticed on the floor and the waiter kept stepping on it every time he walked by. They also forgot to bring a glass of wine that we ordered and brought it after we finished the meal. On the flip side, I have to mention that they excluded the prime rib from the bill and that the crab cake was delicious.
Great service. Excellent recommendations and food was outstanding!!
Food and service were excellent
Fantastic old school steak house. As good as it gets.
Went for my Birthday. I had the Colorado rib steak with whipped potatoes. The best steak I’ve ever tasted. Paired with Pinot Grigio. The Maryland crab cake was also delicious . They gave me complimentary cake for my bday- excellent coconut layer cake with mango ice cream. Put this place on our bucket list. Simply the best. Be prepared to spend money!
Outdated, stuck in the past, over priced, most steak houses have surpassed them in quality and service.
I’ve had many good meals here. Don’t know what happened. My sirloin was fatty and chewy. Fish was so dry it was inedible.
1. tried to book with open table online table for 9. not possible; directed to contact resto directly. This we did and received confirmation table for 9
2. show up at resto and they gave us table for 8. plus we had a baby
3. moody waiter. Pushed us to order WAY too much food.
I have been client for almost 40 years. Service nasty and food mediocre. I don‘t mind paying outrageous prices for top quality. Sadly this was not the case. Far too expensive for what we got.
Carne, porterhouse, molto buona. Servizio un po' meno, ma avevamo prenotato tardi, ed è comprensibile che i camerieri volessero chiudere. Comunque gentili fino alla fine.
Old school steak house ambiance. Excellent service. Always an excellent meal.
attending a ballgame
We enjoyed our experience in S&W. Great table where Warren Buffett uses. Steaks were terrific.
Food was a little over done and the waiter was scarce
Great food, great service, a bit noisy, but worth the experience!
We had the best time, excellent food, wine & service. The restaurant was exceptionally busy as NYC Marathon day - we had a great time
My husband ordered the veal chop medium rare and it came out medium well. They replaced it with a sirloin steak cooked to the right doneness with no seasoning and it had a burnt fat flavor. The potatoes were very good. We were very disappointed. The waitstaff were very good and tried to make it up to us. His knife was dull which shouldn't be in a steakhouse.
Truly awesome steakhouse. Came for dinner while on trip to NYC and we weren't disappointed. The dry age bone in ribeye was delicious and cooked to perfection. Both the Cajun rub and the original classics were excellent but my verdict is stick with original - wife and I both thought it was just a tad better with more of the original steak flavor. But really you won't go wrong with either. I think it is a bit better then other chain steakhouses like Ruth Chris's， Morton's. Maybe even a edge Mastro's a bit in terms of steak itself. I would recommend it and would visit again when I have the chance. (They also have a table reserved for Warren Buffet at all time.....now if he was dinning that would be something ....)
Awful service, long lag bet
Amazing experience would highly recommend the porterhouse was buttery soft and had amazing flavor
Michael and Richard made a fantastic event.
Always the best steak in NYC~! Had a great time celebrating
The special of the day- sirlon - was not as tender as you would expect it in such a location.
Food was great, however a bit pricey. The atmosphere, not great for a romantic evening: can be quite noisy where you can’t hear the person in front of you at a two too table. Service was mediocre. Told server and sommelier that we wanted to start with a cocktail and order a bottle of wine with our main course. Dinner came, and no server or sommelier returned to the table, not even to fill water glasses. Bathroom stalls were out of toilet paper and not clean, products everywhere. For a high end dining establishment, it was ran line a diner.
Food was delicious and perfectly prepared. The wait staff was prompt, courteous and professional. My only complaint would be to suggest larger tables and more comfortable chairs. We were seated in the back near the kitchen and still a bit cramped. However, I will go back just for the ribeye, hash browns, and coconut cake.
I used to come to this restaurant during the past 10 years and I think it has slowly became worst, till this time in which I really had to stop eating my filetto that had an horrible strange taste.
I thought the filet mignon needed more salt and butter on it.... Also, not as tender as I had in other places.
Smith & Wollensky’s is the best steakhouse in NYC. And Danny Collins is the Best of the Best in NYC.
Nice service and food. Little bit expensive. Noisy during dinner hours.
For us as Germans certainly a total american expirience,we loved the food
and the serviceonly the noise level in the upstairs room was a little
downlight. WE recomend this place to any foreigner as an all american
Steeply priced for the name only. Steaks nowhere near as good as they used to be. Extremely slow service. Disappointing
