Smith & Wollensky - New York
Although Smith & Wollensky has earned its reputation as the quintessential steakhouse, the menu is varied and offers many options beyond the signature exemplary steaks. Guests can also select from a variety of market-fresh seafood, poultry, and lamb. Delicious side dishes complete the meal, such as creamed spinach, hashed browns, and seasonal vegetables. The irresistible dessert selection ends the meal on a memorable note with a variety of decadent, housemade cakes, sorbets, and ice creams.

Absolutely best meal we had in New York. Very big portions! Our Broccoli was under cooked and the waiter took it off our bill
I like the Smith and Wollensky as the quality of the food is steady and the meet is what I expect to be. The drinks and cocktails could be better though.
My favorite steak house. Nice environment, food is good. Service good although WiFi didn’t work
We had a great meal and excellent service from Sam for a special birthday dinner. Would definitely go back
I guess we had very high expectations. According to websites supposed to be one of the best steaks house in NY. But I’ve been in better places. Seating wasn’t very comfortable and the table was very wobbly. The food wasn’t that impressive too. Hash browns wasn’t crisp and the quality meat for 50+$ wasn’t perfect too. Are waiter was great and very helpful with great knowledge, but his assistant bring the food and switched my dinner with my wife’s. By the time we realized the mistake i ate well done steak and my wife was chocking with my rare steak. The good part was they give us a huge delicious dessert for free. Overall was a good dinner but not what you are expecting for the money.
Cajun ribeye was outstanding
Great experience!!! I would happily go there again!
One member of our party was in a wheelchair, which was specified both in the reservation and then on the phone in confirming the reservation. We waited for 15 minutes to be seated with plenty of open tables
I’ve been to S&W over a dozen times but this was the worst dining experience I’ve ever had here. We were a party of 6 and crammed into a booth in the back corner rather than put 3 table of 2 together.
A lot of fun and delicious food. Professional and memorable.
The place was so noisy it was almost impossible to hold a conversation. The temperature was way too cold, and despite our (and other customers) requests to increase it, nothing was done for a long time. The food was good but expensive. Overall - very bad experience.
It was great porterhouse stake
Absolutely fantastic food with great service. The portions are perfect with the price. All food was absolutely incredibly delicious.
host always makes us feel like family - cajun ribeye is the best in NYC - service was a hair slow but worth the wait
Another great meal at one of our favourite NYC resturants. Every time I visit NYC I book my table at Smith & Wollensky.
We have been going to S&W since the 70s. Always excellent but what made it "extra" thi time was our waiter, Robert (from Albania). So accommodating WITH A Smile met. Made our evening EXTRA special. We will request hi next time!
Was looking forward to this visit, last time I was here was at least 10 years ago. Well Smith & Wollensky did not disappoint one bit. We started with a nice drink at the table, the ordered appetizers. The appetizers (raw shell food) were as fresh as could be. Then the main course….. Steak… one of the cuts of Prime Rib I have ever had. The other people in my party ordered the Cajon rib and the NY Cut. Both were to die for. I know that I will be back comes the summer, winter and fall.
Ristorante costoso, non per tutti i giorni. Ma di ottima qualitá
Staff was excellent very friendly and knowledgeable
It was a great Mother’s Day Dinner
Everything was phenomenal
Atmosphere, food and staff were outstanding. So much so that we ate here twice on our one week stay!
Ambiance and service were excellent. Food came out fast. Sides were delicious but the steak, a 10oz filet (which was expensive) was underwhelming.
Maybe it was just an off day, but I’ve had plenty of good experiences of Smith and Wollensky, this wasn’t one of them.
Rib of beef was over cooked and tough, service forgot to bring a couple of side dishes, service was slow and no to the high standard I usually enjoy.
Hopefully it was just an off day, but I’m not convinced
These prices are really high. I just don’t think the steaks were extraordinary enough to justify those prices.
We were told by waiter that we were being placed in a nice quiet area. It then became impossible to hear each other speak. The corner of the room also meant that our waiter rarely remembered to check in on us.
My drink was made incorrectly and was 98% alcohol. Waiter laughed it off and said customers like it that way. Steaks cooked to varying degrees of wellness were served to the wrong guests.
Cocktail was still included in the check. Waiter forgot to bring one of us coffee.
I was very dissatisfied with almost every aspect of the experience.
We had a great experience!
Everything was perfect...
Thé best steakhouse!!! The meat, thé accompagned, all is good! Only bad thing, the wine with thé small cost was at 79$...
But we went to eat, also it was very good
so kind server👍🏼
Thank you very much!
Thank you very much for your fine service and making u all feel so welcomed.
See you soon!
Great to hear that you had such a great time Bob! See you hopefully again soon. Best, Roger
Very nice atmosphere and food is good (8 of 10) — but very little value for the money. I’d pick another steakhouse next time
Thank you for your feedback!
The tuna carpaccio was too rough cutted)000000000)00000000000000000000000000)00000000000000000000000000 00000000000000000000000000000000000000000000
Amazing food. 10oz Filet Mignon steak cooked to perfection along with the lobster tail. The restaurant is very busy and whilst we had a reservation it still took a little while (10-15minutes) to get seated at our table. So, make sure you’re hungry but not fainting.
The food and service was excellent. The menu is a little pricey, but still would come back here.
Not overly impressed with the quality of the food. Steak bland and burnt (all steaks came out of the kitchen on the darker side not just the ones for our table), hash also bland and burnt.
Massive portions but waiters still try very hard to sell appertizers.
To expensive for the quality of food offered.
Service was great, food was great and the drinks were perfect.
We were a little out of our depth here, we're pretty casual diners as a rule but wanted somewhere special for my thirty-tenth birthday and this was a restaurant I had always wanted to visit: it didn't disappoint. Service was impeccable, our waiter friendly, helpful with dessert suggestions and kindly obliged with a rendition of Happy Birthday when be brought out my candle-topped coconut layer cake (which was SO scrumptious, I ate it all despite being stuffed from mains!)
The starters of scallops from the specials menu were huge and paired beautifully with the peppery carrot puree. We shared the double sirloin which was so soft, full of flavour and cooked to perfection. My boyfriend declared it the best steak he's ever eaten and I'd probably agree. We had whipped potatoes and creamed spinach to accompany it and they were perfect in their own rights but the portions were large and we wasted a shameful amount. The house Malbec was a good choice and reasonable value but I am no wine connoisseur. The ambiance was lively (Saturday night) but not rowdy and we rolled out of there stuffed and happy. It's not cheap, definitely the most expensive meal I've ever eaten but worth it for a very special occasion. I'm happy to have ticked this place off my culinary bucket list and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
That's great to hear Runnerbean! Thank you for coming to Smith&Wollensky to celebrate your birthday and your amazing feedback. We are grateful that we had the opportunity to make this evening so special for you. Best, Roger and S&W team
food was great
ambience really pretty
Some of the best meat I have ever had.
My bucket list birthday celebration was to eat— attempt —the Colorado ribeye. My oh my what a feast ! The creamed spinach and Mac& cheese were excellent. Now that’s the good part , but even better was the service. Every attention to detail to ensure our satisfaction was match and then some. If ever in New York again, this will be my first dinner stop. Thanks for making my 70th birthday the ever!
