Our table was ready at 8:15 but we were waiting on one of our party of four. Since we were having Wine Dinner, the bartender poured Prosecco while we waited. Once we were seated, more Prosecco and the menus. Choice of appetizers or salad we chose the crabcake and a Ceasar salad which they split for us. The white wine was perfect. The Porterhouse (+$20) was magnificent and the Cabernet Sauvignon paired perfectly. We chose carrot cake and cheese cake which were massive and delicious. With the add-ons for vegetables we spent over $150 per person but our out-of-town guests agreed it was worth it. There are few places in NY where you can have a steak dinner with three bottles of wine for less. I would highly recommend reservations as it was packed. The room is loud and you may choose the grill which offers the same menu in a more casual atmosphere. Finally, you'd be wise to take a car service rather than drive. Please don't drink and drive. Stake was average, coli flower was under cooked, and the volume made the evening a struggle to have any conversation. We were there several years back and the food was excellent, unfortunately should’ve not returned.

What a great place! Our servers were very knowledgable and I love any meal that starts with an incredible bread basket. The pretzel loaf was amazing! My husband loved his oysters. I had the NY Cut and he had filet mignon and we split broccoli and hash browns. Totally delicious! We enjoyed a Pinot Noir from the Dundee Hills of Oregon and it was delectable. I had noted on our reservation that we were becoming parents the next day and our server brought us a piece of chocolate cake with a candle in it and announced our good news to the whole restaurant! A magical last evening out as a twosome. Would love to come back here again in the future!

We arrived promptly at the reservation time yet were made to wait for 20 minutes without explanation. There was nowhere comfortable to wait and had to stand avoiding the waiters going by. We finally were led to a very small table for the 5 of us which additionally had faulty folded extensions which did not allow for a pleasant experience. The food and wine were exceptionally good, but the problems described did not allow for a satisfactory occasion, especially considering the price level. This kind of problems should not be present in a restaurant of this level. Shameful. I had been a couple of times to this restaurant before yet had never encountered such glaring faults.

Not the service we expected. Our waiter was borderline rude. He made no recommendations and acted like we were a burden to be waiting on. Not the service you expect when your bill is +$300 for two people.

Always enjoy coming to this restaurant as the food is consistently top-notch. Yes, its pricey, but its worth every cent because the quality of the ingredients is first rate as is the preparation. Looking for a special place, this is it!!

The ambiance was nice, there appetizers were amazing, very nice parings. The area was a little loud, couldn't hear the waiter well or even my partner. The asparagus was not seasoned at all and was not appetizing. The porterhouse was charged on the outside so it seemed to have a burned flavor. Over all good but not great.

We found this place after speaking to someone randomly at another establishment and couldn’t have been happier. He made one suggestion, ask for Tony, it was the best suggestion we got this trip. Now the food and service was great, but Tony made our experience incredible. He was helpful, very friendly, and made this the best dinner experience we have had in months. We will def be back and certainly asking for Tony. To top off the night, we spoke with Gaetano as we exited and what a professional. He wanted to make sure we enjoyed our stay, offered us a suggestion for another place to end our night and made the visit just that more enjoyable. Thank you.

Luis and bacci are the reason I keep coming back. This was my 10th reservation in the last 9 months and the ONLY steakhouse I’ll go to in nyc. As a local, S&W is an institution. Date night, work dinner, family members bday, it doesn’t matter- S&W is my go to. No other restaurant in nyc has the level of consistency with both service and food. Thank you so much @Luis and @Bacci for making every dining experience special

The only good thing we find about SW is that the service is over-impressive. Why not; they tack on 20% plus additional at the discretion of the patron. The food is mediocre at best. I prefer a sizzle to my steak and found their steak on the low level of quality. The sides were good but at bargain prices...lol. We spent a decent amount of money for a mediocre meal. Will I ever go back to SW - I don't think so. Will I recommend SW - definitely NOT.

Steak was awful. Salad was fine but vinaigrette dressing was mediocre and actually took away from the salad. Seafood tower was great and the highlight. But going to a steak place among many in the city you’d expect the steak to be great. Wasn’t even close. Service helped to make the experience better. The guys outside were great.

What a great experience! I was with a group of 4 celebrating a birthday. The waitstaff couldn't have been more attentive. Our waiter Dennis and his dad were awesome! We had appetizers, entrees and dessert and all of it was excellent. The fillet mignon and the porterhouse for 2 were cooked perfectly. One of the best steakhouse meals we've ever had. We will definitely go back.

Always a great experience at this NYC landmark. From the terrific Maitre d’ to Elvis the waiter, all are very friendly and professional. The drinks are always very good. All around a top high end steakhouse that’s still great.
