Visited early tonight and could not be happier with our experience. Great service, great food and great atmosphere. Highly recommend for anyone in the area.
Good food but very expensive. No doubt it it a special place.
Amazing steak served as generous portions. This is a traditional New York steak house. It has a high energy atmosphere with good mood lighting
Great atmosphere. There was a wait for the food but to be honest we didn’t really notice as we were enjoying the atmosphere but our lovely waiter did and gave us fresh glasses of wine without a word. The food was definitely worth waiting for when it came. Amazing filet mignon and lovely sides. The service was great. Really old school fine dining.
Absolutely fabulous evening at S&W. Service impeccable and best steak I have ever had.
Was given a terrible table. Waiter’s mask covered mouth but not nose. Very inattentive service—waiter didn’t pour wine, get sides, or ask how things were. For $400+ for two, would try any other NYC steakhouse next time.
The service what is the worst I’ve received many years. I have no interesting giving information and he made us feel like we were a burden. I won’t go back. I understand the stress as of today and how people are short staffed however, when you pay those kind of prices they could do is offer customer service. I would rather have bad food and great customer service.
Muy buenas opciones de carnes. Cortes extraordinarios. El servicio correcto pero no excepcional, muchas mesas por atender y el mozo no prestó suficiente atención q
Our meal was absolutely fabulous and the restaurant was traditional and charming. Our waiter was having an off night and the manager on duty in our section of the restaurant was not interested in stopping at tables and asking if his customers where enjoying their meal etc. which was a little disappointing as most of the tables around us were in a bit of distress. Other than the waiter and service that evening, we enjoyed the meal and ambiance. Everyone has an off night and we understand that.
Food was great, service was very good. The only issue was that we sat next to a table of “frat boys” who were yelling, cussing, and being a**holes - patrons trying to enjoy dinner with their families had to listen to the bs during their entire dinner. I complained to the waiter and also the matre’d (along with another table of patrons with family members present) about the situation and they apologized profusely - however, Smith and Wollensky staff continued to overserve martinis and wine to the table. Finally, the matre’d asked them to move to the bar area. After they left the dining area, things returned to normalcy. Having spent a considerable amount on dinner, I can honestly say I will never return to this restaurant after this experience.
Food was amazing. Steak and Sides were cooked perfect. Waiter forgot our wine and we had to wait 20 minutes before it was served.
Fantastic dinner with my wife.
Very loud inside and very cold! …………………………………::::::
I have been wanting to dine there for 40 years and I finally made it. It was well worth the wait.
Not a great experience. Had to send food back and service was really slow
Very nice restaurant. We had AU Poivre on our steaks and it was so peppery baked into the beef it was over powering. We did tell the waiter and he compensated the bill somewhat
The food was good but not excellent- as you would expect for a place in this price range. The meat arrived slightly cold. It was good but not that savory. The mashed potato side was small and bland. Service was very good- although there was a delay in bringing the main courses out.
Great food. Room is looking a bit dated but nice enough. Looks better from the outside
Noise level was horrible ..Did not enjoy my meal because of it.
The food was excellent but another table got a bit loud and we found ourselves waiting for the waiter a few times. He never returned to the table to see if everything was ok.
First time at these restaurants. Excellent service and food. We are not NYCers so prices seemed high until we experienced the food quality and portion size
Great, very happy to be able to dine here again.
The food is amazing, the service is great, will continue to come back here.
Champagne due to special occasion on the house was the best part. Food was sub par and over cooked. Sides are way over price but there was nothing special about it. $16 for steam broccoli? At least throw some garlic and seasoning. $16 Hash browns was IHOP quality.
very good food and great service!
worth every $$ , i would highly recommend
The split pea soup was so bad, I had to laugh. Glue with a bit of smokiness and no taste is definitely a new low in cuisine. The oysters were shucked so long ago they were dry. The Sauvignon blanc was good. The medium prime rib showed up medium rare. The bouquet crabs were good along with the lobster and shrimp. There was nothing special about the wedge salad. The cranberry walnut bread was good but the breads were all so cold. The service was better but not super attentive but better than the food. We spent $400 for mediocre. I already posted the photo of the split pea glue. It’s such a shame how far this institution has fallen.
Great experience will definitely go back the next time we visit the city.
We’ve just gone to Peter Luger’s a few weeks ago, and everyone of us agreed that PL was way better. Service was slow. We ordered at 6PM and got our food at 7PM. The halibut was dry and overcooked. The steaks were unevenly cooked— medium rare near the bone but well done on the outer edges. And prices were more expensive than PL.
I loved everything except the TV by the bar. Don’t think a steakhouse of this level needs people focusing on a game. Other than that, one of my favorite steaks ever!
We weren’t happy with the table we given as it was right by a corridor. I asked for a change which they complied with. Then one of the receptionists offered us a drink on the house as they seated a party of 14 right by us. We didn’t take advantage of the offer as we had already ordered a bottle of wine. That we thought was very nice.
food was AMAZING
Really great experience. Food and service was great
We went on Thanksgiving for dinner. Benny our waiter and the rest of the staff were great And the steaks were fantastic Must go to Steakhouse in NYC
Had thanksgiving meal, it was ok, very cramped restaurant. Sides were very good, Turkey was average, the service was great. I would not return for price of meal and quality of food.
I'm not a fan of S & M for steaks. Far better and more to my liking in NYC. That being said, we tried their price fixed Thanksgiving meal yesterday and we were all very pleased! Price is expensive at $90/PP but that's actually modest for NYC on for a holiday meal. Turkey was moist, sides were delicious and abundant. Service was attentive. Tried as best as I could to overeat and I STILL couldn't finish but half of the fare served. Pretty sure we took home more than we ate.
So S & M did a great job for Thanksgiving!
Our first visit here and it did NOT disappoint! Even on Thanksgiving this place ran like a well-oiled machine. Outstanding service from Benny. Everything was delicious and beautifully prepared and presented. Everyone in our party, from 18 to 80, loved it!
Thanksgiving dinner in NY, a perfect venue. The waiter, servers all perfect! Excellent customer service and attentiveness.
We are grateful for this superb dining experience
Excellent atmosphere, food, service. Highly recommended.
