Smith & Wollensky - New York
Although Smith & Wollensky has earned its reputation as the quintessential steakhouse, the menu is varied and offers many options beyond the signature exemplary steaks. Guests can also select from a variety of market-fresh seafood, poultry, and lamb. Delicious side dishes complete the meal, such as creamed spinach, hashed browns, and seasonal vegetables. The irresistible dessert selection ends the meal on a memorable note with a variety of decadent, housemade cakes, sorbets, and ice creams.

Atendidos de manera displicente. No sé porqué. Comimos y tomamos muy buen vino, merecíamos mejor trato.
My best friend and I celebrated our September birthdays with a great meal at S&W. Service was attentive and professional and the food was delicious. One of our side dishes needed to be replaced since it was barely warm, but it was prepared and delivered quickly - and at a much better temperature.
exceptionally expensive and just ok steak. stale bread, $16 for broccoli barely steamed. steak not that flavoursome.
I have traveled around the world and have eaten in many famous steak houses.
We were a party of three the bill with Gratuity was between 400 and 500. I am sure more than the median.
But since this dinner consisted of two CEO(s) from Public Companies and one COO, we are not use to being asked that we spent too much time eating and that it was suggested we move to the bar to free up a table.
I was looking forward to eating at S&W since I lived in Manhattan for almost 20 + years, and now in Atlanta, Buckhead. But I would never eat at S&W again.. VERY Disappointed, in everything except for the wine steward, if that is what he was.
Horrible service very disappointing
Very expensive for the obtained service/food,
meat offered without vegetables - awkward
higher level expected of the diner experience
Not comparable with high level three star restorants in Europe.
Overall a very poor and expensive experience.
Disappointing having read other reviews but really wouldn’t go back and would avoid unless you have no other option!
Great to FINALLY eat here after all of these years of driving by!
I can't sex de what is better -- the bone-in sirloin or the server or the FAB coconut cake!!!??
All of my food are delicious !
My steak was not cooked correctly. I had to send it back.
The. Best. Steakhouse. In. New. York.
And Danny Collins makes it even better.
Can’t wait to be back.
Old school steak house icons like Smith & Wollenski are great and I am glad they are still around. The crab cocktail was awesome. However it is not the 80’s anymore and they should not be charging Thomas Keller prices. It was not as busy as the olden days and I think that’s partly due to their own price inflation. Charge 2/3rds guys and people will come back for sentimental reasons. I would. But at Thomas Keller pricing I go to well, Thomas Keller...
had a great client dinner in the corner table. Great meal and people.
Always great. One of the best steakhouses in Manhattan.
A must go to steakhouse in the old and traditional fashion. Really nice service, fab steak and, afterwards, the manager showed us behind the scenes. Really impressive!
ステーキはヘレが◎ サーロインは○ シーフードは普通
Bread basket not impressive. Very expensive for the quantity. Whipped potatoes were dry and crumbly. 2 of 3 filet’s were perfect, but no special seasoning. Felt a little rushed. Removing dirty dishes was more prompt than checking to see if anything was needed. Bread plates taken without checking if we were done with them.
Excellent as usual
We went to Smith & Wollensky by mistake. We walked into a time capsule of a steak house. Like a comfortable pair of shoes you've owned for 20 years. The menu was limited and you wouldn't expect otherwise. We must say that the filet was by far hands down a steak that cut like butter. It was surreal tender. The spinach was sautéed with just the right amount of garlic (heavy). The service was spectacular by a seasoned staff. Definitely will be back.
I understand it is in the city but i also know what it cost for the product and to repair it. Even with top chefs the cost is overinflated for many items, wines, side dishes mostly.
Great as usual.
This is THE steakhouse.
Very expensive but wonderful food! Would come back again when I’ve saved up! X
The Mignon!! The Mignon!!! Great meal! The service was perfect and the coconut cake... Outstanding!
We came to celebrate our 30th anniversary and the place where we had our first date. Smith & Wollensky greeted us with champagne and a warm welcome back! Sam our waiter was friendly and attentive. Wonderful meal and evening!
Excellent steak. Wine wasn’t cold enough, but they offered a glass as compensation.-
All in all delightful
Richard and Rafael were fantastic, very engaging and took great care of us.
My personal favorite for steak. Excellent New York vibe with the best of waiters who have worked there several decades.
Wonderful dinner, excellent service, amazing New York waiter!
Always love Smith & Wollensky.
Muy buena atención.
Todo muy rico
Muy rica y la carne deliciosa. Las porciones son muy grandes. Y con cortesía de vino por mi aniversario
Food was great. Two of us had the burger which was good. They have an extensive wine list. If you’re looking for a great steakhouse in midtown this is your place.
The service was professional and personable. The food was delicious!
Do you need any more reasons to go?
Very good meat and oysters. However I must say that the service from the waiter that was with us more often was awful. First of all, the smell of cigarettes was disgusting, second of all he seemed to be in a hurry with the dishes, the check, everything. He insisted up to 3 times for us to pay when we hadn’t barely finished our food.
He brought the check without asking for it. When we then ordered two expensive whiskeys he stopped insisting. Very annoying
Our review changed on this visit. S & W was our go to place on every trip to NYC. We loved it. I would not typically rate down on one visit. However, on this visit both of our entree's were below par. The filet (one of our favorites) had no, and I repeat, no flavor. I would rather have had the filet at Outback. The sole tasted fishy throughout. Typically the sole has been best in class. To top it off we never saw our waiter. Again, usually we have had the best service in any restaurant. We are not sure what happened but I will test other venues before we go back.
the staff was very welcoming and attentive we will definrtly be back
Smith and Wollensky never disappoints. The service was very attentive and the food delicious. We shared the porterhouse steak and loved it. But it was a smaller portion than we had in the past visit . The softshell crab appetizer was delicious and very well prepared. Our drinks were on point and it was a great birthday celebration.
Prior visit was years ago when the food was excellent. It was disappointing this time. I had a filet that was ok but not the best. My husband craved the veal chop. This time it was smaller, done medium well instead of medium rare as ordered and came with some kind of sauce that he didn’t want or like. Capital Grill is much better. Sorry that we chose to go there.
