The steak was fantastic! We ordered the porterhouse skillet for two and the presentation, preparation and flavor was excellent. The service was okay but as the dining room filled up, it was a long time in between visits from our server. We had given ourselves about 30 minutes to order dessert after the meal but our waitress didn't come back for over 15 minutes after we finished eating and she said she'd be "right back" so we had to leave without trying any of the after-dinner treats unfortunately. That being said, we were so full from dinner it was probably for the best anyway but I'd give yourself at least 2+ hours for your meal if you want appetizers, main course and dessert. We budgeted an hour and a half and barely had enough time for a drink, bread, and dinner by the time the food came out and the waitress came back after the meal. Bottom line: Nice place, cool atmosphere. We'd go again for the food.

We went there for pre-Christmas dining. Everything cooked to order and attentive wait staff!

Food was decent. However, service/experience was horrible. When we walked in, the hostess/manager was arguing with another server about something at which point the server threw a slip at the hostess and walked away. The service was very poor. It took almost 10 minutes before we could place an order for drinks and at this point we were ready to order our food but the server only took our drink orders. I had to waive or ask another server to get our servers attention whenever we were ready to order drinks and then again when he wanted to order food. He came over and never introduced himself, just dropped menus on the table and walked away. I ordered the Filet Oscar and asked for the hollandaise on the side. Our server said no problem, but when the food came my filet was covered in hollandaise. Also, our first drinks were empty for at least 15 minutes at which point I had to waive to the server again to get his attention because he was in the corner talking to another server. I've never been there before and will not be going back. I'll be sticking to Abe and Louis and Grill 23. I would have gone to one of those in the first place but couldn't get reservations on short notice. Smith and Wollensky was half empty on a Saturday night and now I know why.

This was our yearly holiday dinner. The steak was delicious, the homemade rolls were wonderful. We were disappointed in the size of our side dishes. The onion rings were large enough to share, but the root vegetables and whipped potatoes were not - small portions for the price paid. The building is beautiful and we were able to eat by the fireplace on the second floor. We are not sure if we would go back.

Set a personal best for price of a meal, but worth every penny. Porterhouse melted in my mouth and the sides are the best...

I always have a good time when I go to a Smith and Wollensky. This was my first time at their Boston location in the Back Bay. The restaurant is in a 19th century castle which is amazing!

I took my girlfriend here for her birthday and it was a great night. We came early, took our time with some cocktails and appetizers before ordering dinner, never felt rushed or pressured to move it along. The service was attentive without being intrusive, and the staff was very pleasant and courteous. Definitely recommend it for special occasions or romantic dinners.
