Located in a historic stone and brick “castle” built in 1891, the structure originally served as the headquarters for the First Corps of Cadets and is listed on the National Historic Register. The first floor gunroom, social hall, and museum floor have been converted to the main dining room. The castle also boasts an impressive collection of private dining rooms, and the fourth floor Battle Room is one of Boston’s most coveted locations for large parties.

The atmosphere is so beautiful. We sat right by the fireplace. It was the perfect date. The food was all done to perfection! We will definitely be coming back!

One of the finest steaks a 24oz aged rib eye cooked beautifully. Service was friendly and professional and the chocolate cake was to out of this world. Great restaurant and wonderful food and service.

Dinner was amazing. Honestly I don't see a way they could do any better. Our waiter, Josh Hodson, was excellent! We had the 46oz Porter House for two with lobster mac and cheese and potatoes au gratin. ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!

I ordered a USDA Prime New York Strip but the meat smells bad. I then talked with the manager and he took it away. I reordered a Bone In USDA Prime Ribeye with medium rare but it came like very rare. Then the chef recooked but it is medium well. The meat also smelt not good. The quality of the meat is way behind my expectation. I eat steak very often and I go to other high-end steakhouses in Boston regularly, but this Smith Wollensky is not good. I will never come back to this restaurant again.

My wife and I came here for Valentine’s Day dinner. A last minute cancellation squeezed us into a 7:30 spot and I reserved as soon as I saw it! Unfortunately, our experience was very lackluster. The food was cooked well. Props to the kitchen. But, we felt very forgotten from the wait staff. When we arrived, our waitress was bubbly and introduced herself, she gave us menus and everything seemed fine. Another waitress approached us to take our order and she seemed like she was in a rush. We placed our order and waited. The first waitress would go back and forth to each one of her tables and walk right past ours. I wasn’t there for attention, we wanted a good meal, but we felt secluded and a bit awkward not being talked to. Other couples were coming in and they all were talked to and given attention and we were just walked by time and time again. Our food came out, and my wife ordered seared tuna with no bbq sauce. This dish should have come with a salad. When we brought it to our servers attention, she assured us that it did not come with a salad (after checking the menu afterwards, it does come with a salad). In every one of this servers tables that she chatted with, she gave them the check with a card to mention her on social media and asked for them to look her up. With us, we got the check and a Thank You.

My wife and I didn’t go in there all snobby either, we thanked her every time she put water in our cups, but we felt a little awkward not being talked to. if she didn’t talk with every other table around us, it wouldn’t have mattered.

We felt a bit disappointed but we payed and left.

Entire service and food were excellent . Our waiter Paul was comfortably , friendly , and very good at his job . Castle was beautiful . After our meal we were encouraged to wander the other areas and take in the castle's beauty . Would definitely return

Our dinner at Smith & Wollensky, Back Bay at the Castle, as always, was truly enjoyable! From our warm greeting, to our delicious dinner and impeccable service, it was everything anyone could hope for! This particular time we had two servers, Amy and Sherryl, also know as “The Sisters”! They were wonderful and attentive! The General Manager Richard always stops by to check in on us. All in all, I would highly recommend Smith & Wollensky to anyone! 🤓

Everything was great but please update your billing system. While you stated that you will add the tip to the bill for a group of more than 6, the tip was just calculated and not added to the bill. When you brought the bill - there was just the merchant slip but not the customer copy!

A Boston favorite! Food delicious and it's very cool to dine inside a castle!
During this visit, our meal was made even more enjoyable by our awesome server, Paul. He was very attentive and engaging. We hope to dine with him on future visits! A+ service!

We had an excellent time at Smith and Wollensky . I was most impressed with the fact that they prepared a chicken dish for me because I do not eat red meat. My husband spoke to a gentleman named, Richard, during the day on Saturday. He apologized for not having chicken on the menu. Also, he did not have a standard, generic type white fish on the menu. Since I do not eat red meat
nor any fish other than a whitefish, there was really nothing for me to eat. He said he would call back to see if he could arrange for a chicken dish since they sometimes do that for private parties. He called back and he did in fact say that he could have chicken prepared. I was very impressed and will certainly recommend this restaurant to others. A big shout out to Richard for doing that.

Sides and deserts were wonderful. Steak (bone in fillet) was very disappointing, fatty and not cooked correctly. Service felt rushed. Server was very nice, but service felt rushed for a slow night.
