Amy was the best. She shared a little history and answered every question about the food.
We had a good time for Dine in Boston week. Food was amazing and service was also amazing.
Went during restaurant week, pretty empty, don't know if it is better during normal times.
Cheap qualities of fish and steak. Never had a steak that burnt and chewy.
I made the reservation with the request for a quiet out of the way table for two, For my wifes Birthday. We knew we qere early and stated qe wanted to relax at the Bar. I was was rushed from the bar, to be plopped in the middle section of the the same Bar room. VERY disappointed. VERY NOISY. During dinner , another table received a desert with a candle , ours came with none. Now I can understand it being a Monday and all, but how is it any different cleaning up one table from the next 20-30 feet away there was plenty of open areas in other rooms. For them not to have a real dining room area open is a sham, plane laziness if you ask me. The food was good , the waiter was Good . JUST very disappointed in the whole scheme of things after waiting years to be able to go to the castle too get bummed.
Outstanding Service however food was not up to par
We had early dinner reservation before seeing a show in the Theatre District. We were there on the first day of Restaurant Week and ordered from the special three course menu. The special menu was more extensive than other restaurants were offering. The food (entree filet mignonette) was delicious, cooked to order and so tender. The appetizers, sides and desserts were very tasty and generous. One of the highlights was the ambience and history of the building. The other highlight was the impeccable service all around but especially by our server, Paul. He was terrific and very attentive without being obstructive. A great night! We will be back.
Good fillet. Wonderful cocktails!! Beyond remarkable decor and ambiance!!
This occasion was for my son and his friend's 20th birthday celebrations. The had a fabulous time and said it was probably the BEST meal they ever had! They had the crab cakes, beef bacon, bone-in filet, mashed potatoes and chocolate cake! They also loved their server Josh.
Nice but not great value for money. We spent $150 per person for just average food. The server was very good but the overall service was slow considering that it was not very crowded. Quite a bit below Abe & Louie’s or Capital Grill for overall rating.
Our group had a great casual evening with a relaxed atmosphere
I remember going to S&W almost 15 years ago in NYC (3rd avenue). It was one of the happening places with amazing food and even better ambience. When I came to Boston and saw S&W sign near my hotel, I decided to bring my work colleagues here. Sadly the quality, ambiance and overall feel has gone down. The decor is stale, service is on par with TGIF and not what I remembered from many years ago.
Sadly I will not be returning to S&W in Boston.
Amazing meal. Definitely an experience. On the pricier side and definitely worth it every bite was better than the last. Had the aged ribeye with Gorgonzola topping and the lobster mac with truffle oil. Great night.
Paul provided outstanding service for our dinner. He made subtle suggestions that made the meal perfect. The food was cooked very well and the whole place was very clean and inviting. At the end of the meal the waiter brought out a pice of cake with a candle for our birthday girl and a very thoughtful card signed by the staff. Excellent experience. We will be back.
The food was great! I have been in many restaurants and this one so far is the best. The only downside is that there was a table of guys that were swearing and no one told them anything. Made me feel uncomfortable. Otherwise its greatly recommended.
we came back Smith & Wollensky Boston for our Anniversary because the steak is outstanding and the ambiance is wonderful .First let me say we had Sheryl as our waitress and she couldn't have been nicer, seemed like anything you needed she was right there and she had a great personality which made our night even better. Three of us had the 24oz bone-in ribeye , which is melt in your mouth good. Don't let the price scare you because it is worth every penny. One person had the boneless ribeye with the stuffed lobster tail (stuffed with crab meat) every bite was heaven as he said. Paired it up with some house red and a bottle of white and three sides it was the meal of the weekend . Thanks for making our 28th a night to remember Sheryl.
PS don't miss touring the building .
Came with family to celebrate 45th birthday and everyone had an enjoyable time. Cheryl and Dean were attentive and answered all our questions. Food was excellent. Chocolate cake was the perfect ending to a wonderful celebration.
Always great time
Awesome, great steaks and awesome chocolate cake. The restaurant is in the coolest building- an old Armory and the interior is beautiful
We had a wonderful dinner. Thank you Sherryl for making a memorable evening.
It needs renovation. Our banquet was torn. The place seemed drab.
The atmosphere is so beautiful. We sat right by the fireplace. It was the perfect date. The food was all done to perfection! We will definitely be coming back!
If you like steak, this is a great place for it, plus its in a Castle!
Food was great! Our server was nice, but a little slow- not very personable.
One of the finest steaks a 24oz aged rib eye cooked beautifully. Service was friendly and professional and the chocolate cake was to out of this world. Great restaurant and wonderful food and service.
Excellent food in an historic building. A little pricy but definitely worth it if you are celebrating a special occasion or for date night
Tha meal was very food. Price was acceptable. Wine was great.
Service was very nice. Place is a little dated. It might be awhile before we go back.
Dinner was amazing. Honestly I don't see a way they could do any better. Our waiter, Josh Hodson, was excellent! We had the 46oz Porter House for two with lobster mac and cheese and potatoes au gratin. ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC!
Some of the best steaks we've ever eaten. Dry-aged and cooked to perfection.
I ordered a USDA Prime New York Strip but the meat smells bad. I then talked with the manager and he took it away. I reordered a Bone In USDA Prime Ribeye with medium rare but it came like very rare. Then the chef recooked but it is medium well. The meat also smelt not good. The quality of the meat is way behind my expectation. I eat steak very often and I go to other high-end steakhouses in Boston regularly, but this Smith Wollensky is not good. I will never come back to this restaurant again.
My wife and I came here for Valentine’s Day dinner. A last minute cancellation squeezed us into a 7:30 spot and I reserved as soon as I saw it! Unfortunately, our experience was very lackluster. The food was cooked well. Props to the kitchen. But, we felt very forgotten from the wait staff. When we arrived, our waitress was bubbly and introduced herself, she gave us menus and everything seemed fine. Another waitress approached us to take our order and she seemed like she was in a rush. We placed our order and waited. The first waitress would go back and forth to each one of her tables and walk right past ours. I wasn’t there for attention, we wanted a good meal, but we felt secluded and a bit awkward not being talked to. Other couples were coming in and they all were talked to and given attention and we were just walked by time and time again. Our food came out, and my wife ordered seared tuna with no bbq sauce. This dish should have come with a salad. When we brought it to our servers attention, she assured us that it did not come with a salad (after checking the menu afterwards, it does come with a salad). In every one of this servers tables that she chatted with, she gave them the check with a card to mention her on social media and asked for them to look her up. With us, we got the check and a Thank You.
My wife and I didn’t go in there all snobby either, we thanked her every time she put water in our cups, but we felt a little awkward not being talked to. if she didn’t talk with every other table around us, it wouldn’t have mattered.
We felt a bit disappointed but we payed and left.
The service was excellent. Amy was fabulous, attentive, and thoughtful. The food was good, but the atmosphere was too loud for a romantic date.
Went there for Valentines Day. Have to say everything was amazing.
Ask for Paul as he is a great server!
Our server Amy was phenomenal- attentive, friendly, and helpful. She topped our lovely evening and enjoyed ourselves immensely!
Great evening - thank you! You gave our son the royal treatment.
Entire service and food were excellent . Our waiter Paul was comfortably , friendly , and very good at his job . Castle was beautiful . After our meal we were encouraged to wander the other areas and take in the castle's beauty . Would definitely return
Amy was a great server, thank you for all of the great suggestions and timely service!
Amy was very attentive and seemed to know what we needed before we had a chance to ask her.
