In Boston for special occasion, looked up reviews of restaurant ,most positive, wanted to have a great steak.ordered dry aged 24oz bone in PRIME rib eye ,cooked perfect med/rare but was tougher than a select grade cut I would not buy at local supermarket. Do yourselves a favor:by all means ask your hotel concierge for recommendation ,as we were in rush and did not .Will not happen again!
Made reservation with request for quiet window table. Was seated next to four person party, spoke no
English AND had dog on leash moving around under foot.
What is with that???
Amazing lobster BLT
Our waitress Sherryl was lovely. We went to celebrate our one year anniversary. The cherries in my manhattan were soaked in something delicious. I had the gorgonzola crusted filet and my husband had the wagyu with angry shrimp "enhancer", with truffle mac and broccolini. My husband ordered the caramel custard and I an Irish Coffee. We both enjoyed the meal very much.
My wife and I dined at the waterfront location in Boston and were very pleased with the quality of the food, however I thought the service was subpar. We waited almost 25 minutes before a drink order and then another 10 before it was delivered and he took our food order. Waiter never offered his name, but he was less than attentive the entire time. Another waitress Stephanie came over and helped at the end basically bailing him out. I think when you are paying this kind of $ for dinner, the service should be held to a higher standard. Other than that the meal was outstanding.
Always an excellent dining experience! Highly recommend this restaurant.
If you love steak this is one of the finest steak houses in Boston. Great wine list and there is nothing on the menu that is not special. Walking distance to great shopping in the Seaport district of Boston.
We were disappointed with the badly undercooked broccolini, the lobster mac and cheese that had only a few tiny pieces of lobster, the flavorless crab cakes and oue steak for two was over cooked as well.
We go to Smith & Wollensky frequently. The food is always superb and the friendliness and support of staff is outstanding. Evan is the most personable professional waiter we’ve had. Highly recommended!
I have always wanted to try a high end steak house. Smith and Wollensky fit the bill. It does not disappoint and was by far the best steak I have ever had.
Please add gluten-free menu items.
Sherryl was our waitress and she was very outgoing and informative about the menu. She was great with checking in on us during our meal as well.
Sheryl was our server and the service was outstanding!
Food was good, but wine list on electronic device made it difficult to find, and then they did not have our selection, so list is not online. We were there 45 minutes before we could get a bottle of wine. Got the impression that we were not a priority.
Food was very good.Au Grautin potatoes were outstanding.Dry aged steak was great.Service was outstanding.
I took my wife here for her birthday. We enjoyed a wonderful night and everyone was kind and professional. They even surprised my wife with a slice of chocolate birthday cake. We highly recommend! Thanks for help making her birthday day special.
We had to chase our waiter several times. He was not very attentive as I have come to expect from this restaurant. Service is usually much better.
worst lobster sandwich for price. also, ff were soggy. service was excellent though.
Ribeye had too much salt, salad was inedible as was the dessert. Waiter never asked how everything was since we did not eat it (he never came back to the table) and we sat for an hour waiting for our plates to be cleared...had to ask another waiter to remove them. To add insult to injury the bill had additional items that we did not have and had to wait again for the correction. I will never go again.
We did not order an appetizer because we always leave room for dessert. We were a little disappointed that our entree came out so quickly. I was only half way through a martini when our food arrived.
Great food and atmosphere. Friendly and attentive waiter.
Our server Stephanie was outstanding! I would specifically request her again!
The waitstaff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, even when we were delayed. The food was delicious and they made the birthday event lovely.
Given the number of steak houses that have opened in Boston, one would expect that S&W would try harder. I expect a ribeye to be marbled, but not consisting of 1/2 fat. The French fries tasted like the frozen kind out of a bag: limp and not at all crisp. At least my client's ribeye looked better.
Great service, good drinks and ambiance. Steak better than what I had at the nyc Wolensky, but far behind Ruth’s Chris and Del Fresco in NYC. Cream spinach was just ok and was cold when served, the mash potatoes were good.
Very disappoinred party of 2. Appetizer not what expected, we had to pour our own wine as server never checked table, we had to sweep crumbs off table until server saw and then came over to do. The veal was not edible it was sent back too salty and chewy, we were offered another item but at that point we didnt want to try anything else. The bone in filet was cooked right temp but way too salty to eat and we didn't want to complain so neither of us ate entrees and we left hungry. The veal was removed from check and we never returned the filet, just did not eat it. Very disappointing dinner/experience that we were looking forward to.
Food was wonderful, service was good not great, pricing was $$.
Had dinner with a colleague at a business trip, great streak, a bit pricy
Meal was excellent. Service outstanding. Friendly and engaging. Nice environment without the crowds of the seaport.
The steak was cold. The entire experience was poor
Everything was great until we bit into the pieces of glass inside of our side of corn. They acted quickly and re-plated our food, and re-made the sides, but still charged us for the corn. Not that $10 matters at at place like this, but the principle and disrespect of charging someone for something with glass in it is ridiculous. won't return, will stick with Strega, Ocean Prime, and Del Frisco all within a walk.
Great food and great service we were in town for the weekend and selected this place to eat. It was a great choice .
I dined at Smith & Wollensky Boston – Atlantic Wharf as part of a large group many years ago. I recall the ambiance was quite pleasant and the environment very accommodating for such a large group. The wait staff were perfect, and the food was delicious.
It was not a hard decision to choose Smith & Wollensky Boston – Atlantic Wharf when a group of friends and I decided to take in the annual fireworks over Boston Harbor. I needed to be late, but the restaurant was glad to seat my friends (one of whom suffers from Celiac's Disease) before my arrival. Not many establishments will do that! My food sensitive friend was presented with a menu that offered a wide variety of options for her meal selections. Our table could have been further away from the entrance, however, it was one of those deals not worth going on about.
As with my last visit, the food was superb, the wait staff was attentive without being cloying, and their suggestions were spot on. We were able to enjoy our meal without a lot of "how is everything" every 10 minutes! If we needed attention, we had it. When it was time to leave, the check was presented promptly -- and not before we indicated it was needed. That is a plus that so many people fail to recognize.
All in all, it was a great meal and a great time. I'm looking forward to visiting again.
S&W is known for it's steak and did not disappoint. This was a business meeting with 7 people. We sat on the patio which was just fine. There's only so much you can dress up a patio but it was fine and gave us a quieter place to be where we could talk. The food was ALL delicious. We had oysters, several sides of which the mushrooms were particularly fabulous and we actually ordered another mashed potatoes it was so good. 5 out of 7 of us had some kind of steak. The other two had fish. Every one of us was thrilled with our meal. The Coconut cake was ok but the Blueberry Cobbler was simply to die for. All in all, an excellent meal in a very nice atmosphere. I highly recommend.
Disappointing experience at a supposedly top notch restaurant. Sunday night in Boston at a less than busy restaurant. Had made reservations to celebrate anniversary. Requested outdoor seating and manager had hostess put us right next to an outdoor theater performance. She had tried to put us at a quieter location but the manager had her put us there. I should have known the evening was going to go downhill from there. Plenty of outside tables available for most of the evening. Ordered a bottle of wine which took about 15 minutes because the manager had to go upstairs to get it. Ordered an appetizer which took unusually long to get (burratta) and waitress apologized for the delay. Dinner was extremely delayed - wasn’t delivered until almost an hour after the appetizer. The waitress kept coming over and apologizing. Tables around us got their meals and when we finally received our meal the waitress also brought complimentary glasses of prosecco as an apology. We only ordered a simple steak and side of macaroni and cheese. Not a complicated order. There were 2 male managers on duty. Neither of them came by our table to apologize, check in on our dinner or even wish us a happy anniversary. We typically go to Del Frisco's for our special day but I opted to try S&W for a change. This was a huge mistake, one that I will never make again. My apologies to Del Frisco’s for thinking there was any place better to celebrate our anniversary. I hold the managers at S&W responsible for this poor experience. Leah the waitress was clearly unsupported by her managers and didn’t ask us if we wanted coffee or dessert. She just brought our check and said goodnight. On the way out the door, the hostess was too busy texting on her phone to even say goodnight. It was a very disappointing experience. The food was good but not good enough to bring us back. If you’re looking for a great place with special attention on your special occasion I would not recommend coming here.
Our first time visiting Smith & Wollensky and we were completely blown away. We enjoyed excellent service (Thank you, Lea), perfectly prepared food, and generously mixed cocktails. The Beef Bacon appetizer and the Wollensky salad are not to be missed; I'll certainly attempt to replicate that vinaigrette at home. The shrimp in the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail were firm, chilled, and not at all rubbery with a wonderfully bitey cocktail sauce, and the Signature Filet Mignon was dry-aged perfection. We enjoyed the Asparagus with Lemon, as well, and ended dinner with a piece of chocolate cake larger than my head. As with many high-end steakhouses, the salads and sides are meant to be shared, so exercise caution when ordering or be prepared to bring some home.
Had a wonderful meal. The service was exceptional and the food was cooked to perfection. It was a little on the expensive side but I would still return.
Food was great but service poor. waiter dropped off our food and didn’t return for 10 minutes while my partner waited to ask for steak sauce. His response was “I have other tables”. That was ridiculous as there were only about 6 tables occupied and plenty of staff.
The food is mediocre and very $$! The setting is great.
Recently ate at this restaurant in the Long Wharf area. Very good steak, I had the boneless ribeye and potatoes. It's pretty expensive, so just know that in advance, but recommend for a good business dinner meeting.
