Smith & Wollensky Boston – Atlantic Wharf Ratings and Reviews
Our group reservation was for noon on a Thursday. We were seated at 12:05 and ordered around 12:10. Appetizers arrived at 12:50 and main courses at 1:30!!!! On top of that, we had three orders of steak tips ordered medium, and they arrived rare. Our server was very polite but this is just unacceptable service. Never again.
Steak was cold...place was pretty full but still not an excuse when you're paying $50 for a piece of meat. They heated it up but still wasn't great. Also took a very long time to get our dinner (although apps came out really fast). I'm assuming my meal sat there for 10 minutes which is why it wasn't hot when served. Disappointed as I've been to other locations that were better.
I went here for lunch the other day with a coworker. Server gave me a dinner menu, which I didn't notice at first. I asked if I could order from there, and he said it was fine. Got the porterhouse for 2 and some sides. Food took over 1 hour to come out. Manager came out and apologized, but still -- 1 HOUR. Other than that, S&W is still a great place for a steak.
We ordered several items. The bacon appetizer and the rib-eye carpaccio. The bacon was horrendous, stringy, and oscar meyer is better than that. The carpaccio had no flavor what so ever. We ordered brussel sprouts and received spinach. The spinach had no flavor either. The truffle mac and cheese was heavily doused with truffle. The mashed potatoes were milky. My steak (USDA 21oz NY cut) was half fat. Again, poorly seasoned. Everyone at the table had agreed on the food. We were all extremely dissapointed that we had to pay a $500 tab and still tip $100. Learning experience.
Terrible. Waiter spilled 3 drinks including half of 2 martinis and didn’t refill. Oysters were frozen with ice in the shell (they did remove half though from the bill). Then even though 5 of us split the bill and signed, only 1 of us got charged the full amount. Calls back to S&W about this were never returned. Very disappointing
I wanted to update this 12/6, S&W has responded back to me very professionally and has resolved the billing error. Thank you Rachel
We planned ahead for the celebration of birthdays of both of our adult children. The staff acknowledged their birthdays upon our arrival. Again the waiter greeted them with a Happy Birthday and even presented them each with a Birthday card at the end of Dinner. The menu was explained and the specials were outlined. Questions were answered directly and with sufficient details along with a few suggestions. The food was delicious, perfectly prepared and the service was attentive and professional without being too much. Special dry-aged Ribeye (30 ounces) was huge, but one of the best steaks we have ever had, anywhere. Standard Ribeye and the Chateaubriand (for two) with a demi-glase sauce was delicious. Desserts were exceptional ( especially the 10 layer Chocolate Cake and the Carrot Cake (which were definately too much for one person to eat). You will never leave here hungry. Overall a wonderful experience.
In a few words, this restaurant was highly recommended by most of my business associates as well as a few friends and the experience we had beat that! The service was outstanding and the food spectacular right down to the amazing dessert, on the house, for my husband. I was totally blown away by the meal and I have eaten in many fine establishments in Boston as well as other large cities. We needed a lunch time meal and I honestly can't wait to try this restaurant at night! Nothing to say other than one of the best meal experiences I have had in quite some time, most especially our waiter (sorry can't remember his name) but the date was 11/19 at 2:00 pm - he and his entourage should be highlighted for what they did so well, give us a wonderful dining experience!
We had several mediocre meals here. Thought it was our luck. Decided to give it another try and was thoroughly disappointed. It has not improved. It actually got worse. Establishment removed a few of our favorites . Clam casino, bone marrow to name the top two. We asked for crispy hash browns, but didn’t get it. So we addressed this with our waiter, then we got a very charred replacement. Also, the meals were mixed up. We had to figure out who ordered which steaks. Don’t order split pea soup, it was bland and cement texture. Hate to give such negative reviews, but hopefully this would improve the restaurant quality and service. Prospective Patrons be ware.
One of the best meals I’ve had in a while! We started with burrata and angry shrimp. Both were excellent although I wish the burrata was served with bread rather than a cracker. Our steaks were cooked to perfection and flavored superbly. I had the Filet Oscar and my fiancé had the chocolate and coffee rubbed filet. We left full, happy and hoping to return soon.
Second visit to a Smith and Wollensky. First in Chicago and now here . Zero for two.
There are simply too many exquisite steak places to be disappointed. So wanted it to be great, after seeing the scene from "Devil wears Prada." The movie put them on the map; the product takes them off.
Four old friends gathered for lunch at S & W. The place was exactly what we hoped for. The service was smooth and, in the best sense of the term, "invisible." Everything we wanted or needed just appeared. The food was exceptionally good. The ambiance was elegant, quiet and convivial. We came with high expectations and left feeling they had been met. Nice place. We'll go back soon.
Excellent steak, salads. We felt somewhat pressured when I ordered a NY Strip and the waitress tried to sell me on some advanced NY Strip and showed me a brochure. We were spending close to $70 a steak and could have done without the sales pitch. The service was good, but not outstanding, especially considering it was not busy. Overall, my clients and I enjoyed our food very much, and they were thrilled with the experience. Thank you.
The food was fine, but the service was terrible. I made reservations at noon for a 7PM business meal on a Monday. We arrived a few minutes after 7 and were seated between the bar and a wait staff station, looking out at mostly empty tables. I should have asked for another table, which might have avoided the waiter problem. After painfully long gaps in service, I had to locate and signal the waiter at each phase of the meal (taking meal orders, removing dinner plates, taking dessert orders, bringing the check). This was very unpleasant, since I was also trying to converse with our clients. At 10PM we were all checking our watches. I could see people at other tables looking around for service. The waiter then seemed to be on dish duty and fortunately came by with a cart of glasses for the bar where we could signal him again. The huge and repeated gaps in service made no sense since the restaurant was not busy, and made for the most unpleasant dining experience I have had in Boston.
