We had an Excellent dinner! Everything was wonderful.
Food was delicious, the $80 after 8 was a good value, service was just OK
I have been visiting this locations for several years. Dining experience has always been ☆☆☆☆☆
The staff, always knowledgable & friendly. The restaurant floor, tables, etc impeccable. The food always delicious. I highly recommend Smith & Wollensky!
We arrived and it was chaos. Staff informed us they were running a little behind. Was informed by another patron that there was an issue in the kitchen and they were waiting for the health inspector. We waited for an hour. I wish they had been truthful when we checked in.
They did not honor our reservation. We were on time at 8 pm on 02/14/19.
They called us one hour later and said the table was ready.
That is not acceptable!
Will not come back.
There are multiple top quality restaurants in Boston and suburbs.
On Valentine's Day they had an issue in the kitchen early but they rallied and salvaged the night. We had a good experience.
Their kitchen vent was broke, we had to wait for a very long time. They did not accommodate us in anyway. And we were not aware of a different menu for Valentine’s Day.
Made a reservation for Valentine's Day for 7 PM. Showed up only to find that for the past two hours the kitchen had been closed. Cocktails were being served, but there was no idea when the kitchen would be opened or what the issue was for the closure. A heads-up or notification that the kitchen was closed would have been nice. My date and I decided to go elsewhere.
Fire in kitchen
Had reservations for Valentine’s Day. Their kitchen was broken and they made no effort to contact anyone to let us know. We waited over an hour with no updates on whether or not they would be able to cook any food. We ended up leaving and receiving a call 1:54 mins after our reservation saying the kitchen would be able to cook if we were still interested.
We dined here for our 12th anniversary, we made the reservation on OpenTable and I clearly stated in the reservation that we are coming for our anniversary. When we arrived, I was expecting that the front desk host and waiter would at congratulate us on this special occasion as it's clearly stated in the reservation. Unfortunately, no one was aware that it was anniversary, it seems that the host didn't bother to read the notes in the reservation. Restaurants usually offer you complimentary desert on such special occasions, Smith & Wollensky failed to do so also. Very dissapointing experience and overall my wife didn't enjoy it. I believe this is the fault of the front desk host which failed to do her job properly. I would never dine here again nor would I recommend to anyone for special occasions.
Stopped in for lunch and ordered two very good salads - Chicken Caesar and Wollensky with Shrimp. We had a bar area high too and the service was outstanding. I would definitely go back for lunch but would try something other than Wollensky salad...
My wife and I went here recently for her birthday. We took advantage of the $80 after 8:00 pm deal. The food was fantastic and our waiter was amazing. He went out of his way to wish my wife a happy birthday. He also gave us a special dessert since she did not like the options on the $80 after 8:00 menu. We will be going back soon!
We were seated next to another occupied table while there were many available else where
It took a bit for our server to appear
We both ordered beef filet and both were not cooked enough in the center so we had to eat around it we ordered medium plus temperature
I do not appreciate having to send my $50. Steak back to have it cooked
It was a disappointing dinner and dining experience
Food was great.. Prices are a little crazy.. 10 bucks for a small cup of Mash Potatoes... Really??
Food was great, waitress Cheryl was awesome....but the clearing of the table was slow and took kinda long to clear. Overall it was delicious and a good time.
We love Smith and Wollensky! We like to work with Sherryl when we go because she is such a lovely server. We did have a great night and always have a delicious meal. However, I will say that on this occasion the steak I ordered was not what I expected. I typically order a filet mignon because I like a very lean cut of beef, and on this occasion I ordered the bone-in filet, which I have had several times in the past. For some reason, this time the steak had a very significant amount of fat in it. I did not think that would be possible for a filet mignon, but apparently so! I was disappointed because at least 4-5oz of the steak was entirely fat, but also there was plenty of fat throughout the steak, that was not possible to trim off. So in the future, I will just stick with the boneless filet - perhaps the bone-in option can sometimes be fatty? We also had the cauliflower and it was amazing. We ordered the brussels sprouts, which are extremely greasy - ours were in a pool of butter or oil, so do not order those if you are looking for a lighter veggie option! We could not really even finish ours because they were so heavy.
It was my second time at restaurant and truly enjoyed myself with family and friends. Drinks were great and our waiter was very personable.
Another great meal and phenomenal service, As a family we just love the food, attentiveness, fun conversation and the feeling of belonging to the Smith & Wollensky family. Thanks for everything we will be back soon.
Our waitress was wonderful. The meat and bread were great. The appetizers; mashed potatoes, and hash browns, were overloaded with fat and grease. Fresh whipped potatoes and hash browns without all the fat added would have complimented the meal so well. With more of the population eating clean you may want to offer a healthy option. Thank you for the opportunity to provide feedback. I hope it useful.
We really enjoyed our evening.
We love the $80 after eight option.
Great meal. Excellent service. I’ll be back.
After 8 menu and wine pairings were outstanding.
very good food. Very quiet this night and so no ambience.
The $80 after eight menu was a fantastic meal at a very reasonable price. The coffee & cocoa filet melted in my mouth.
Best part of the meal was the fillets. There was far too much truffle oil in the Mac and cheese, the asparagus was tough and woody tasting, the mushrooms tasted like they were dehydrated then rehydrates (very chewy and tough). Our server was good but could have been more attentive with drink refills and menu explanations. I personally had the fillet with the Alaskan crab and the crab had looked to of been prepared hours before my steak looking dry and opaque. I also had the 1/2 dozen oysters that also looked to of been prepared hours before hand. The gigantic chocolate cake was also underwhelming in taste.
We had a great experience. Thank you S & W for inviting us back!
Excellent location on Atlantic Wharf near Boston Tea Party. Reception, Servers and manager were well trained and seamless. Server always smiled! Facility and rest rooms were very well kept. Steaks were prepared as requested and 5-6 were delicious, as were ALL appetizers. Family Style sides were very tasty too! (No Seafood Entrees though)
Total Tab- $620 for six people. Drinks and tips included. Overall solid business celebration dinner!!
Took forever service was really slow- left us feeling pretty frustrated given that usually it’s decent
We did the $80 wine menu deal, which was a great value. Our service was excellent, the food was amazing, and the unlimited wine was a great addition to our birthday celebration.
I have eaten at S&W at least 30 times.
Not a good place to bring a 2 year old. You are made to feel unwelcome.
We have taken our son to this restaurant at least 10 times and it just does not improve.
No more S&W.
Hopefully this feedback can help you alter the culture in your Boston restaurant.
It's one of the classic steakhouses, and I hope it isn't going anywhere. I visited to catch up with friends in the new year, and it was very quiet for a Saturday given its location in the financial district - the upside of this was a table by the water. The food was out of this world, and I'm glad to see new, creative twists on the classics on the menu. Our server, on the other hand, made the experience far less enjoyable. I think we were her only table, and when she came over she spent way too much time hovering and talking. We acknowledged what she was explaining about the menu several times, and she stuck around re-explaining it for several minutes. When she took our order she spoke loudly and used so many filler words and re-checking what we asked for that it gave us a headache to get our order in. Recalling how much your server spoke is not a pleasant way to remember a meal. Other than what was hopefully a fluke with the server, I'm excited to go back again soon.
We went at 3pm on a Friday so it was quiet as expected. Service was ok but we expected better due to being some of the only customer s there. The food was great but didn't arrive all at once which is a bit annoying.
Overall a good meal but not 5 star.
The service was poor and not what we typically expect from S & W. The drinks were wrong, the soup was wrong and they never checked us in on open table even though we asked several times. Would you expect a steak knife with steak tips? It was only when the waiter saw me struggling with a butter knife that he brought one. With all of the great choices for a steak house in Boston...I would not rate this S & W as a top choice. Very disappointing!
Very good from the moment we had entered from the view to the food
Great service and perfectly cooked steaks.
Went for New Year’s Eve dinner and overall had a great meal and a nice night. My only complaint was the service. Our waiter didn’t introduce himself or talk to us at all which isn’t what you’d expect at a nice steakhouse like Smith & Wollensky. Prices were moderately high, but what you’d expect. Good cocktails, fresh lobster, delicious mac and cheese!
I used to love S&W and was quite a regular there. Which is why I was so surprised to find the food and service there sub-par this new year night. Were they understaffed and overbooked? - Maybe.
1. We got seriously sick that night, likely from the oysters.
2. We had to ask for napkins twice. For a party of four, to have two napkins not already at the table was strange.
3. Wine glass was dirty.
4. Two of the four steaks were surprisingly blah. The salmon was cooked to a shoe-bottom consistency.
5. The waiters were seriously stressed and answered our questions with yes/no answers only, quickly running away.
Sadly, probably won’t be back.
I originally had a reservation for 2. My Mother In Law ended up visiting from Illinois. I called the restaurant & was able to add to the reservation! I always enjoy going to Smith & Wollensky, whether lunch or dinner, the food is delicious!! wide variety of wines, great parking, beautiful views of the wharf, buildings & new high rises.
