We had a great experience. Thank you S & W for inviting us back!
Excellent location on Atlantic Wharf near Boston Tea Party. Reception, Servers and manager were well trained and seamless. Server always smiled! Facility and rest rooms were very well kept. Steaks were prepared as requested and 5-6 were delicious, as were ALL appetizers. Family Style sides were very tasty too! (No Seafood Entrees though)
Total Tab- $620 for six people. Drinks and tips included. Overall solid business celebration dinner!!
Took forever service was really slow- left us feeling pretty frustrated given that usually it’s decent
We did the $80 wine menu deal, which was a great value. Our service was excellent, the food was amazing, and the unlimited wine was a great addition to our birthday celebration.
I have eaten at S&W at least 30 times.
Not a good place to bring a 2 year old. You are made to feel unwelcome.
We have taken our son to this restaurant at least 10 times and it just does not improve.
No more S&W.
Hopefully this feedback can help you alter the culture in your Boston restaurant.
It's one of the classic steakhouses, and I hope it isn't going anywhere. I visited to catch up with friends in the new year, and it was very quiet for a Saturday given its location in the financial district - the upside of this was a table by the water. The food was out of this world, and I'm glad to see new, creative twists on the classics on the menu. Our server, on the other hand, made the experience far less enjoyable. I think we were her only table, and when she came over she spent way too much time hovering and talking. We acknowledged what she was explaining about the menu several times, and she stuck around re-explaining it for several minutes. When she took our order she spoke loudly and used so many filler words and re-checking what we asked for that it gave us a headache to get our order in. Recalling how much your server spoke is not a pleasant way to remember a meal. Other than what was hopefully a fluke with the server, I'm excited to go back again soon.
We went at 3pm on a Friday so it was quiet as expected. Service was ok but we expected better due to being some of the only customer s there. The food was great but didn't arrive all at once which is a bit annoying.
Overall a good meal but not 5 star.
The service was poor and not what we typically expect from S & W. The drinks were wrong, the soup was wrong and they never checked us in on open table even though we asked several times. Would you expect a steak knife with steak tips? It was only when the waiter saw me struggling with a butter knife that he brought one. With all of the great choices for a steak house in Boston...I would not rate this S & W as a top choice. Very disappointing!
Very good from the moment we had entered from the view to the food
I used to love S&W and was quite a regular there. Which is why I was so surprised to find the food and service there sub-par this new year night. Were they understaffed and overbooked? - Maybe.
1. We got seriously sick that night, likely from the oysters.
2. We had to ask for napkins twice. For a party of four, to have two napkins not already at the table was strange.
3. Wine glass was dirty.
4. Two of the four steaks were surprisingly blah. The salmon was cooked to a shoe-bottom consistency.
5. The waiters were seriously stressed and answered our questions with yes/no answers only, quickly running away.
Sadly, probably won’t be back.
Great service and perfectly cooked steaks.
Went for New Year’s Eve dinner and overall had a great meal and a nice night. My only complaint was the service. Our waiter didn’t introduce himself or talk to us at all which isn’t what you’d expect at a nice steakhouse like Smith & Wollensky. Prices were moderately high, but what you’d expect. Good cocktails, fresh lobster, delicious mac and cheese!
I originally had a reservation for 2. My Mother In Law ended up visiting from Illinois. I called the restaurant & was able to add to the reservation! I always enjoy going to Smith & Wollensky, whether lunch or dinner, the food is delicious!! wide variety of wines, great parking, beautiful views of the wharf, buildings & new high rises.
We enjoyed the food and drinks. Very cozy atmosphere. Both the server and manager were exceptionally great.
Could not have been better ! Hospitable, attentive and anxious to please. Great ending to 2018 and tremendous welcoming to 2019 !!!!
Had the Angry Shrimp for a starter along with the complimentary bread (which is AMAZING). The Angry Shrimp came with 3 Jumbo shrimp on a bed of mashed potatoes, spicy but tolerable and very flavorful, this is an excellent choice! My boyfriend and I got the Snake River Farms Swinging Tomahawk Ribeye for Two. The presentation was amazing, wheeled out and charred at the table. The Chef came out and personally introduced himself, it is his favorite dish on the menu. If you plan on going here, you will love it, just verify that the steak is cooked the way you want it before it is completely sliced (which is also done for you at the table), ours was rare rather than the medium we asked for. Nonetheless, e have every intention to make this our restaurant of choice for upcoming special occasions.
Great steak, great service, great ambiance. Only downpart was that they stated on website about some special wines by the glass being offered for NYE but I didn't see anything new or different.
Forgot part of order,
Steak not cooked as requested
Offered to bring later, but I like to dine with my date not watch her eat, then she watches me eat with cold sides.
Showed steak to waiter and asked why order was not complete, I wanted oh a mistake, but got this is how we do it.
Thought a manger would show, but none
Didn't want anything for free but the gesture would have shown some caring for the customers experience.
I can get a under cooked steak and forgotten food, and mistakes let go at any restaurant.
I came to this for a high end experience.
Although the apps ere tasty my steak was a let down.
The bill was high end.
I thought the food was very overrated. Everything was very very salty (and I love salt) and the sauces were just all over the top (and salty). It was a nice cut of steak but nothing you couldn't get from any other fine steakhouse in or around Boston. VERY disappointed.
Had a special time celebrating a family reunion lunch. It was our first time eating at this location and it was well worth it. The ambiance, food, and service were excellent. Our server was very outstanding as well. Would come back in the future and recommend to others.
It was great
Took advantage of their Dinner after 8 wine special. S&W is a fantastic restaurant, the food, especially the steaks, are outstanding. If you like wine this after 8 dinner special is a great bargain. You get an appetizer, main entree and desert plus 4 different wines and you can have as much of each wine as you like. It was a great way to end 2018!
Although our food was exceptional, our server was not.
What was supposed to be a celebration of a special event, quickly turned into a lack luster experience due to our servers cold and unpersonable attitude toward us and his inattention to our table throughout the whole dining experience.
I was clear when I made the reservation and upon arrival that we were celebrating a momentous occasion. We have been to many other high end restaurants and always had excellent service and so expected the same from Smith&Woolensky. When leftovers from our appetizers were brought in a bag and plopped in the middle of our table, even before our entrée was served, we were flabbergasted. This set the tone for the rest of our dining experience and is only one example of many oversights during our meal.
It was only at the end of the evening, when we had to request our check from another server, that he even acknowledged the reason for our special dinner.
Great service very good quality food! Highly recommend for group celebrations
Very classic steak house. Had not been to the new location since they moved from the castle and was very impressed with the interior and there food was incredible. Very worth the high price tag.
Excellent service, ambience and food. Will go again.
We were disappointed. My drink was wrong and my steak was under cooked. It was a special birthday for my sister and I had called ahead for cake at the end of the meal which never came.
I had to change my reservation from 6 to 8 when I arrived for lunch and received a lot of attitude from the staff. The place was almost completely empty and it took us over an hour to get our main course. Once we got our main course all the steaks were over-cooked and the fries were cold.
Myself and my clients did not have a good experience and will likely not be coming back, especially for a business lunch.
Spent Christmas Day there again - staff was great, steak was fantastic, highly recommended!
I was there on Christmas Day- the restaurant wasn't particularly busy in my section. I'm not someone who requires a lot of attention when I'm dining out, but I don't thin the staff was particularly responsive. They appeared to be preoccupied with their own holiday celebration at a nearby table.
Ordered a standard off the menu showed up something completely different. Short ribs were greasy.
Always perfect - outstanding as usual
Excellent Christmas dinner!
We went for Xmas dinner. It was fantastic. The service was wonderful. We go out every year on Xmas and have tried all the steak houses and top restaurants and I think this place is the best.
We were there for Christmas dinner and we all had a great time. The food was excellent. Do glad you are open Christmas. We will see you next year.
Our first Christmas in Boston and we wanted something special ... we found it here. Couldn’t have been better.
The steak is first class and the service was attentive without being overbearing.
Thank you very much.
Had to pay $42. to park in the parking garage was not happy with that validation did not work until after 5 so unless they have valet parking or another area to park I would think twice about going there again. Food and service was very good...could have bought a bottle of wine for the price it cost us to park..no break for Christmas either..
One of the best group meals we've had. Service was prompt, pricey but worth it! Would recommend for any special occasion.
Xmas eve dinner. Terrific. Had my din’s wedding rehearsal dinner here several years ago. We had over a 100 guests and it was a perfect night. Food service both wonderful
The food here ruined our Christmas eve. Vegetables are so uncooked that we barely touched it. Steaks are cold when served and contain too much fat so we had to throw out a half of it. I was very surprised how steak fails like this, even not considering this restaurant is called a decent one and very expensive. Now understand why it was empty in the holidays while other similar steak houses are full.
