Food and service were both great! $80 menu is amazing...
Service a bit slow
Nothing special about the filet - overpriced and not that flavorful. I actually enjoyed the salad better. Would maybe come back for a business dinner but there are less expensive options out there with equal or better quality IMO.
As always, the food was amazing and the ambiance just right. I was a bit put off by our server's brusqueness at the start of our ordering. He literally dropped a menu onto the table in front of me (I had my hand up to take it) then flipped it over to show me where the cocktails and wines were listed. I was insulted as well as my dinner companions. He served one incorrect side, and tried to insist that something else was ordered. He wasn't convinced when a few of us politely informed him that was not the case. Thankfully, he switched the charge on our bill to the item we'd asked for. With those exceptional moments out of the way Danny did provide much better service going forward.
Checking in with everyone as we finished our dinner, I can report that everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals. Your coffee/cocoa rubbed steak was a huge hit.
The restaurant failed to respect our reservation, forcing us to wait nearly 2 hours before our table was ready. Once seated, our entire party ordered the set tasting menu with accompanying alcohol pairings. Several of the courses were skipped and forgotten as well as some of the drinks, and the restaurant never so much as apologized for the terrible service. Boston has far too many exceptional restaurants to ever waste my time at this establishment again.
I was there for the 12 course event and it was very poorly executed
Went for the whole cow tasting. "A" for the chefs creativity and presentation of the food. "F" for the execution and planning. Reservations for 7 which we were on time for and promptly seated. First course comes out shortly thereafter but then that's where things got bad. It was close to an hour before course 2 of 12 came out. After that that the times between each course averaged 30 to 45 minutes. The beverage pairings were also off. By the time we would get our beverage pairings, we were loonnngggg done with the course. That's how the night went. So we started at about 730pm and didn't leave there till 1247Am! And that's only because we skipped the last 3 courses. This was a great idea by the chef and I'd like to do something like it again. However they need to execute this on a smaller scale. Limit it to maybe two seatings with about 75 to 100 people per and hold it in the smaller private room. All that being said the staff was not just standing around. They were all hustling and I honestly felt bad for all of them. From the bartender to the kitchen staff.
The girls and tried the After 8 Wine Dinner and were not disappointed. The food was what you would expect from a top steak house, and the wines were perfectly paired, and they weren’t chintzy, with either! Will definitely be back, at least, once a month.
Everything was wonderful. Our waiter, Evan, knowledgeable. Presentation and quality excellent. The only thing I would improve on is the chocolate dessert which was mediocre.
manny was our waiter and did a fantastic job to make sure that we were happy the whole time there
We stopped by for the 80 after 8 menu. What an outstanding deal. The meal, wine and service where excellent. Im ready to go again.
Overall our dining experience was very good. The food was excellent and the wait staff were good. The hostess staff needs improvement. We had 8pm reservations. We were greeted initially as we did arrive 25 minutes early and at that point were told we would be informed when our table would be ready. We had a drink at the bar and I had to inform another hostess that we had reservations at 8pm. This was 10min after 8. Not a big deal but I shouldn’t have to ask about our table when I was told by the hostess that I would be informed. The restaurant was not busy. Over all I highly recommend Smith and Wollensky for your next dinning experience.
My husband brought me for our first time for my birthday. It was a very relaxing evening. It was a little slow on my first glass of wine,my husband got his drink and my drink order was still not taken. I had the poke app,it was delicious! I ordered the gorgonzola and bacon filet, it was cooked perfectly, but WAAAY too salty! Then I got an amazing complimentary chocolate birthday cake. All and all it was a good night. Only a few things I would change.
My wife and I have always been fans of Smith specifically when it was located in the "castle" in Boston's Back Bay.
This was our first time eating at the Atlantic Wharf (Congress St) location to celebrate my wife's 39th birthday. It was SO lovely; everything from the ambiance, to the food, to our server, Sherryl, was amazing.
Sherryl was the X-factor, however. She really went out of her way to make our evening special. We can't wait to go back!
I ordered the 2012 Torbreck, The Struie Shiraz from Australia, but the waiter brought the 2015 without any explanation or clarification. When I remarked that the wine list ( iPad) showed the 2012 he said that the wine list is not up-to-date although it is electronic. I find this inexcusable for such a restaurant. The whole issue was treated in a rather arrogant fashion.
Not enough help
Very good food, great service! Celebrated our anniversary & a birthday there and they made it extra special.
My overall experience was wonderful. I was there with 5 other colleagues for a work luncheon. One of the parties had an upcoming birthday so I whisper to the hostess. They came over with a giant piece of chocolate cake large enough to feed the entire table. The service on the whole was remarkable as was the food.
Great food and service
I am used to Smith and Wollensky in vegas and new york. This one in Boston is nowere even close to them . They did not have hardly any wine every one we picked they said that was a popular one so we are out. The waitor was bad I had to ask for my silverware. And they did not even have a porterhouse steak. What a disappointment. Will never go to this one again.
Our waitress was excellent and the food was just mediocre. We ordered the tomahawk wagyu and although cooked perfectly the flavor was not good. Macaroni and cheese lacked salt. The chocolate cake was nothing spectacular but the cheesecake was on point. Overall okay experience with food. We have had better steak elsewhere.
In Boston for special occasion, looked up reviews of restaurant ,most positive, wanted to have a great steak.ordered dry aged 24oz bone in PRIME rib eye ,cooked perfect med/rare but was tougher than a select grade cut I would not buy at local supermarket. Do yourselves a favor:by all means ask your hotel concierge for recommendation ,as we were in rush and did not .Will not happen again!
Great time, slow service
We were a group of 11 including 4 adults and 7 High School/College kids. The service was exceptional, the food was outstanding and the desserts were decadent. Not inexpensive but well-worth the splurge.
Made reservation with request for quiet window table. Was seated next to four person party, spoke no
English AND had dog on leash moving around under foot.
What is with that???
Amazing lobster BLT
Our waitress Sherryl was lovely. We went to celebrate our one year anniversary. The cherries in my manhattan were soaked in something delicious. I had the gorgonzola crusted filet and my husband had the wagyu with angry shrimp "enhancer", with truffle mac and broccolini. My husband ordered the caramel custard and I an Irish Coffee. We both enjoyed the meal very much.
My wife and I dined at the waterfront location in Boston and were very pleased with the quality of the food, however I thought the service was subpar. We waited almost 25 minutes before a drink order and then another 10 before it was delivered and he took our food order. Waiter never offered his name, but he was less than attentive the entire time. Another waitress Stephanie came over and helped at the end basically bailing him out. I think when you are paying this kind of $ for dinner, the service should be held to a higher standard. Other than that the meal was outstanding.
Always an excellent dining experience! Highly recommend this restaurant.
If you love steak this is one of the finest steak houses in Boston. Great wine list and there is nothing on the menu that is not special. Walking distance to great shopping in the Seaport district of Boston.
We were disappointed with the badly undercooked broccolini, the lobster mac and cheese that had only a few tiny pieces of lobster, the flavorless crab cakes and oue steak for two was over cooked as well.
We go to Smith & Wollensky frequently. The food is always superb and the friendliness and support of staff is outstanding. Evan is the most personable professional waiter we’ve had. Highly recommended!
I have always wanted to try a high end steak house. Smith and Wollensky fit the bill. It does not disappoint and was by far the best steak I have ever had.
Please add gluten-free menu items.
Sherryl was our waitress and she was very outgoing and informative about the menu. She was great with checking in on us during our meal as well.
Sheryl was our server and the service was outstanding!
Food was good, but wine list on electronic device made it difficult to find, and then they did not have our selection, so list is not online. We were there 45 minutes before we could get a bottle of wine. Got the impression that we were not a priority.
Food was very good.Au Grautin potatoes were outstanding.Dry aged steak was great.Service was outstanding.
I took my wife here for her birthday. We enjoyed a wonderful night and everyone was kind and professional. They even surprised my wife with a slice of chocolate birthday cake. We highly recommend! Thanks for help making her birthday day special.
