SLYCE Coal Fired Pizza Company - Vernon Hills

Pizzas were good. We especially liked the #8. Drinks were also decent. We would dine again.

We usually picky eat deep dish pizza. But Slyce's pizza was so fresh and delicious. The Ceasar salad is mounded with fresh shaved parmesean cheese . We're week definitely be going back soon.

We had been to the Wauconda location several times and thought we would give the new Vernon Hills location a try. We are used to long waits for a table at Wauconda but at this location we got a reservation same day and the place was fairly empty? Which is a mystery as the food, service and experience is every bit as good here and the larger space is welcome. The Ricotta Garlic coal fired pizza was excellent and the Sicilian Salad was large and amazing. Service was great; attentive but not pushy. Knocked atmosphere down a star because I am personally not a fan of TV’s all over, but that’s just the norm these days. We will definitely be back and recommend highly!

Food was good, service was very slow. I know, no one wants to work, but it does affect the dining experience.

Slyce is always delicious and satisfying and a great value. We tried the cannoli's this time around and they were excellent.

Pizza and wings were delicious. Crispy crust and good flavor from the coal fire for both pizza and wings.

Every time I have visited the Slyce in either Vernon Hills or Highwood, I have rated it 5 across the board. I love the pizza, salads, and especially love the turkey sandwich. Last evening's, not so much. The bread is normally superlative, last night ok. Usually, there is so much turkey on the sandwich that I cannot finish half; last night, I almost finished the entire sandwich. Worst, the chips were stale, and not flavorful, as they usually are. As always the service was terrific; our server was polite, quick, and checked on us regularly. Stuff happens, but in retrospect, I regret not sending back the sandwich and asking for more what I have become accustomed to at Slyce. My sandwich last night was pretty good, normally, and I have had it several times, it is outstanding.

Our experience at SLYCE was very good to excellent. We had dinner outdoors, which faced the outdoor kids play center - nice change from packing lots and streets. We had expressed a preference for outside and were accommodated. The food we ordered was uniformly excellent - artichoke appetizer, salad (which was waay more than enough for 3 people - probably even more. Appreciated the small details, like chilled plates AND forks for the salad. The two pizzas were excellent - thin crust that wasn't overly crispy and lots of good toppings. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was that one of the pizzas was forgotten in our order. We took it home and there was enough salad and pizza for a second dinner for the three of us.

This was our 2nd visit to Slyce and really enjoyed it like our first time. Pizza crust is delicious with lots of topping choices. Nice variety in salads too. A large salad fed 4 of us. Plenty of outdoor seating with COVID protocols being followed. My only complaint was that our salad arrived and then minutes later, our pizza came. We had very little time to finish our salad. That could have been timed a little better. We haven't tried carryout, but will definitely be trying that too sometime soon.

Their pizza is really good and the options are not the usual ones. Great service and great outside seating (inside is ok but it misses some cozy-ness). Their longdrinks seem quite pricy to me.

Food and service was wonderful. However, one person in our party uses a walker and needed handicapped parking. The manager accommodated us by letting him come in the side door though the gated area. The restaurant is not very accessible to persons with disabilities.

We started with the Sunday Salad. Veggies were good but the dressing was tasteless. Our pizza tasted good but it was kind of soupy in the middle and pretty burnt on the edges. We ate indoors. Tables are nicely spaced but it was pretty loud considering the restaurant wasn’t at all filled. Server was very nice and attentive. We will probably give it one more try.

Nice atmosphere and great service, but kind of underwhelming for a 30th bday dinner :-/ ; still good food, great wine, and neat cocktails.

The Pizza was great as was the salad. The Cesar salad was huge but a bit dry....needed a bit more dressing, but it easily served 4 of us with some leftover. I wish they had a bit larger wine selection but otherwise it was a great experience.
