Slightly North of Broad Ratings and Reviews
Had long waits between our courses. We have been here before, but waiter was a bit off tonight and we got the worst table in the restaurant- right by the bathroom. Didn’t realize the bathroom was right there or I would have refused the table. Reservation was marked as a special occasion so one would think they wouldn’t give you the worst table in the place especially when it was early and there were other options. It’ll be a long while before I think about returning.
SNOB never disappoints! The staff are professional and friendly; the food served in a timely manner. The hot cornbread is a treat, itself. I'm a Hall Pass Member and love accruing points so that I can then respend them another time at SNOB. The shrimp and grits is my absolute favorite. This is my favorite place to eat in Charleston (and that's saving a lot)!
We love eating at SNOB,whenever we are visiting Charleston. My husband adores their shrimp and grits and I love the clams. The barn raising drink is very good.
They have a wonderful manager named a Peter. He is so friendly and a pleasure to talk with. This is a restaurant that you must try.We love it!
Everything was great except the hostess. No welcome, just “do you have a reservation?”. We were exactly 5 min early for our 5pm reservation and she said “ you are early and we are not ready for you”. She left that sentence dangling. The bar was open so not sure why she didn’t say ‘would you like a cocktail while you wait?’ At least she could have said ‘we will seat you as quickly as possible, you can have a seat on the bench if you like’. No smile, Nothing. Exactly at 5pm she sat us with a “you can follow me”... seriously NOTHING else. 2 women came in while we waited- the same tone and question- they didn’t have a reservation “you will have to wait and I will seat you if something comes up”. The women understandably left. Not sure how full the reservations were but resteraunt didnt get more than 3/4 full while we were there so it seemed more like a power thing. She was the only cloud in our experience. The food was fantastic, our waitress was bubbly, knowledgeable and attentive. Would certainly come again!
We have eaten here several times when we are visiting Charleston. This time the service was absolutely terrible. The waitress was so slow and everytime we ordered a drink we have to remind her again. Once my food was brought to the table she never followed up. My steak was under cooked and had to send back to the kitchen. Very frustrating and once again when we wanted our check she was no where to be found
We met friends from Baltimore who were on a cruise. SNOB was the perfect place to visit, celebrate my husband's 76th birthday and treat our friends to the best low country cuisine in Charleston.
Emily, our servicer, was professional, not rushing us and yet being available when we needed her. We were not disappointed with any of our choices. The menu is exciting and it is hard to decide what to order, but it is hard not to get the shrimp and grits. It is the best. We finished our meal with the banana cream pie which reminds me more of a cheese cake with a twist. I am not a sweet eater, but next time I eat at SNOB that will be part of my meal.
Thank you Chef Lee and all your staff for making your restaurant a place that I love to introduce my friends to...I am never disappointed.
My always go-to, consistently excellent food, service and friendly management. Even at their temporary venue across the street, all was warm and efficient. My always lunch favorite is salmon salad, generous perfectly cooked and delicious. The gratis cornbread is a must and something other restaurants with higher prices hav stopped doing.
Please SNOB, keep doing exactly what you are doing!
SNOB was closed for renovations the day I went. The lunch menu was available across the street at High Cotton. I sat in the main dining room which was simply that a big room with no character. Same as the tables—white table clothes and nothing else. Service was mediocre as it took considerable time for the waiter to approach my table and take my order. The food, when it came, was amazing so that made up for the lack of ambiance and poor service. I had the jumbo lump crab salad with avocado toast and would order it again should I ever return to SNOB. Somehow I suspect I would have a better experience at the real restaurant, and since it is about the food, definitely would check it out again. I am unlikely to return to High Cotton though.
Very disappointed.. Upon arrival we were directed across the street to High Cotton because of renovations at SNOB. Did not like the service or treatment at that location. Will not return to either restaurant. Minimally should of been notified of renovations in advance. Above marks are therefore for High Cotton.
