Slightly North of Broad Ratings and Reviews
Service - 5 Atmosphere - 5 Food - 5
When you walk through the door Peter greets you with a big smile and you see a bunch of real Charleston townies who are there for a smart drink and a great lunch. The wait staff is right on key. They are never too friendly, that would get in the way, and they are always right there when you need them. They are interested in you but also understand you are interested with who you are with and a great meal. They know their menu inside and out. No rookies here.
Everyone looks classy here. The decorations are classy and not overdone. They are going to renovate and I am excited to go back to see what they do. Every table has a view of beautiful people doing their own thing. As a tourist, we did not stand out too much and with a good Bloody Mary or Whisky neat, everyone fits in.
We went back twice to taste Southern Food at it's best with just the right amount of everything. I loved the Avocado toast, no bread for me, my mom's Carpaccio was generous and 100% delicious. They source their food locally or from premier vendors. The specials are delicately flavored and generous in portion. you will be satisfied and with everything on the menu.
There are a ton of places to go for lunch. If you have a three days in Charleston, go here twice! We would have gone three times but could not get in for dinner.
We came for lunch after hearing and reading great things. Extremely disappointed. Service was marginal, food was disappointing, prices were too high for what you get. I️ ordered the Jumbo Lump Crab Salad that came with “avocado toast and an heirloom tomato salad.” Avocado toast was tasty, but the “heirloom tomato salad” consisted of nothing more than a few grape tomatoes and a quarter cup of arugula. Crab was fine, no seasoning though. Don’t waste your money. This place is nothing special.
We were seated promptly. Server attended to us immediately. We were given an anniversary glass of champagne. Service was great, and the food was expertly prepared to our request. We look forward to returning to Slightly North Of Broad on our next visit to Charleston.
We have eaten at SNOB before and had a better meal, service and time. We went for my birthday dinner this time and requested a table where we could sit (literally) side by side. The only table we were offered was right in front of the front doors. It was a chilly November night, and it was cold and noisy whenever anyone entered or left.
My partner ordered a Margarita which was completely unacceptable - very weak, nothing special, not enough salt. When we commented on the bad drink they offered to make his next drink 1 1/2 shots for more money. Our beef was okay, and I got no birthday token dessert. We’ll try somewhere else next time.
We had an excellent time celebrating the last night of our honeymoon here. The service was excellent-- very attentive and friendly. The food was delicious! We got the duck and trigger fish special. The duck was the best my husband has ever had, and the trigger fish was delicious and full of surprises! I definitely have a new appreciation for how good lentils can taste. Overall a fantastic experience-- definitely worth the hype!
Consistently excellent food, in an inviting atmosphere, bring us back again and again. The tuna, rack of lamb and duck dishes are all superb. The noise level even when full, allows for comfortable conversation. Service is just right. Some dishes change with the seasons. Always a pleasure.
We arrived at 5:35 for a 5:45 reservation (party of 5). Went to bar to wait, noticed 2 empty 6-top tables. Were seated at our exact resv time at one of those empty tables. Service was very good. We were not rushed... Appetizers served at 6:30, entrées served at 7:15. All appetizers were absolutely delicious (sweetbreads, venison, soup)! Best Cream Crab soup were ever had! 3 of 5 meals were good but not the best we've ever had (chicken, BBQ tuna, shrimp & grits). 2 were outstanding. (swordfish & tigerfish). Glad we went but for the money, would not rush back to eat here again.
