Awesome!! Delicious menu with a variation of prices. Super yummy!
The waiter was super nice, the food and drinks was awesome. It was beautiful inside. Can’t wait to come back and visit
Slate is one of our favorite local restaurants. Unfortunately, the bar service and quality were terribly slow and sub-par last Sunday. We ubered over expecting to have a few cocktails. However, our first two drinks were unavailable. The first we were told 15 minutes after ordering the second 25 minutes after ordering. Once we got our first drinks they were not as good as they typically are. Hopefully better next time. The food was good as usual.
Our server was super nice! Ambiance and food amazing. Don’t go without trying the hush puppies and the dark&stormy. We tried the brunch on Father’s Day. They seem to be a little short handed. But we still wanna go back for dinner. Highly recommend!
We actually didn't eat this time because we walked out. Service was horrendous and the waitress didn't listen. 35 minutes to get a kid's menu after asking the hostess and the waitress twice. And a total of 40 minutes from when we sat down to get 2 beverages. She finally came to take our order and we told her about a soy intolerance and requested the chef but that we could order for the kids in the meantime. SHE WALKED OFF instead to get the chef leaving us wondering what was unclear. No masks were on either which is fine but wanted to point out it wasn't a muffled request. We walked out hungry when they said they couldn't accommodate a soy intolerance when they had in the past (which was 4 years ago). We tried to give them another chance as the location and ambiance are nice but they sadly failed miserably on Father's Day. We were 1 of only 3 tables on the patio area which had me wondering on such a busy holiday usually. We ended up going back home after getting all dressed up with our 3 kids and grandfather too. He was wondering why we didn't leave sooner actually. We won't return even though the food quality in the past was good, and I won't recommend it to my clients who value good service.
I eat out a lot and let me state categorically that this was one of the worst times I have ever had at a restaurant. We had late reservations(9:15) and got there on time and were promptly seated. I know the pandemic has wrought havoc on the industry & I am sympathetic. However, not having someone take a cocktail order for 16 minutes is unacceptable. Said cocktails were delivered app. 17 minutes later. I’ve never been served a warm cosmopolitan in a brandy glass. Food was ok but nothing special. My scallops were not seasoned which is never acceptable from a professional kitchen. My wife’s tacos were forgotten. We were comped for several items which helped but by this time I was to annoyed to even review the check.
I had high hopes for this restaurant when I booked it. It seems like the kind of place I would want to take my wife for our 22nd wedding anniversary while we were on vacation with our children. Unfortunately my only takeaway is that while it fashions itself as a hip new American restaurant while it is only that for tourists & people who don’t know any better.
Having dined at Slate many, many times since it opened, and as an ardent supporter of local restaurants in Orlando, our experience last night was extremely disappointing. Service and kitchen were clearly understaffed. (OK, I’ll give generous “pass” due to pandemic-driven labor shortages.). Drinks were good, as always, with an excellent choice of top-shelf libations and creative cocktails, but with one bartender for a restaurant nearly at capacity, it took over 20+ minutes for each round to arrive, resulting in apps coming out and being consumed prior to cocktails. Restaurant has moveable dividers, but they weren’t deployed when a table of 12+ people in a “celebratory” mood were seated in the middle of the restaurant, effectively raising the volume to “I can’t hear a word you’re saying” for anyone trying to have a conversation. Last, but not least, food has gone from “inspired” to “meh”, with nouvelle cuisine portions and high-ish prices. Example: “Smoked Brisket” was $29 for two tiny pieces of fatty, but dry brisket, plated atop a dollop of purple grits on 14” plate. Just wrong in so many ways. Best way to enjoy Slate as it is now: grab seats at the bar, order a cocktail or glass of wine & nosh on the shareable appetizers. Eat dinner somewhere else, lots of good choices in the area.
Excellent food and service. Great atmosphere.
The menu was quite a unique mix: upscale entrees alongside sandwiches and pizzas so I wasn't sure what to expect. I needn't have worried as all the dishes were carefully composed, using the freshest of ingredients. This was really one of the best meals we've had in Orlando and I highly recommend giving this place a try. In spite of being seated next to an extremely loud patron, causing my dining partner and I having to at times shout at each other for conversation, we had a great time and cannot fault the establishment for that person's lack of self awareness! Friendly staff, great food, wonderful atmosphere, it all adds up to an A+ for me.
We go to Slate for special occasions but the service used to be much better. Food is good but overpriced and menu seemed to have less selections this time.
Our waiter was outstanding. He was attentive and gave great suggestions.
I loved it! Beautiful restaurant with great service. My only comment has to do with the charcuterie board. It was not great. It only had one type of cheese, and it was cubed. There was a very basic ham and one other type of cured meat. It just wasn't impressive. Everything else was outstanding! Cocktails included. I had a great sazerac.
Great food!!!! Excellent, friendly service
Overall good experience serve was excellent!! Pizza not too good
Had a great dinner. Service was attentive and waiter was very friendly. Great setting for dinner. Good portions.
Always a great time on “my corner”.
My burger was not cooked the way I requested. The noise level was so loud you couldn't hear each other speak.
Good quality food great ambiance
I have been wanting to dine at SLATE for quite some time and my first experience they didn’t disappoint. Our waiter Emil P was amazing. The entire staff has been amazing. Emil was very attentive and accommodated myself and my friends. The ambiance is spectacular and the food was delicious. I can not wait to return to SLATE! I have definitely added Slate as one of my favorite restaurants in Orlando.
Always great service and interesting take on food preparation.
Atmosphere was great! I thought the menu was a bit overpriced, but the service and food were both good, so I’d definitely go back!
Despite a busy night service was superb as usual
It was good our server was nice and informative. The chef looked like he knew what he was doing. No heat lamps so everything went straight from the kitchen to the table.
This was my 2nd time to Slate. Service was very very slow. I ordered the brisket as my entree & it came without any sauce. I’ve never seen brisket served dry - it’s usually in a BBQ sauce or something similar. I barely ate it. Unappetizing. They ran out of snapper. My colleagues had the shrimp which looked delicious. One person ordered a coffee after dinner. Waiter must have flown to Sumatra to buy the beans. We were signing the check when the coffee finally arrived. A disappointing dinner.
Great experience, as always...definitely one of our favorite restaurants!
Perfect for a date night, food was excellent!
This was my first time dining at Slate. I met with my sister and parents for brunch on Saturday. Slate is in a busy plaza right next to Trader Joe’s, so they have complimentary Valet Parking available if you don’t want to drive in circles. The restaurant is beautiful inside and out, however, the entry door is not obvious and we all arrived separately and wandered before finding the door to enter! It seemed silly, but if you see it, you’ll understand. A sign would be helpful. All employees we encountered were friendly. The menu was a nice variety of breakfast and lunch items. Our server Michael was so kind and nice. The restaurant was quiet, but it wasn’t crowded either.
I look forward to going back another day for lunch or dinner.
Fabulous evening at Slate...our waitress was wonderful, and the food delicious!
Great as always!
it was a weird experience. one of my guests ordered a beer and it wasn't what he liked flavor wise and got a wine instead.
He asked Matt our server if he can take it away since no one was gonna like it.
He basically in so many words said no.
We were all confused.
We had a runner take it away since he wouldn't take it.
Two of us had your scallop dish and it was lukewarm.
We had 2 coffees that were lukewarm.
I had asked for a white wine to have with my scallops and I ordered it about 5 minutes before the food came, so I could enjoy it with my meal. I got it as I was half way though the dish. I hope this helps you all moving forward.
Had a great experience ( as always). We love this place ! The touch from the scratch kitchen is amazing. Always service with a smile and fabulous ambiance.
I ordered the artichoke dip as an appetizer and did not realize it was full of onions. I was sick all night as I am allergic to onions.
it was dope.
The service was great but the food took a very long time to come out. Drinks were tasty but barely felt the alcohol. Therefore we ordered drinks on the rocks.
Great food and nice place to meet with friends and family.
Food was nice. Feel of the dining room, decor was good too. In the reservation, I had requested a quiet spot but we were unfortunately seated in the traffic pattern between the kitchen and the dining area. When asking about a quieter spot, we were told nothing else was ready. Frustrating as we we booked on the backside of lunch service and the dining room was about half full.
Great ambiance, and excellent waiter! We enjoyed brunch greatly!!! Great Bloody Mary :) The hush puppies, biscuits and french toast were spot on :)
The music was loud and wished the levels were lower. Difficult to have conversation at table when you have to talk over the music. Food and service was excellent
Our server Stacey was GREAT! Appetizers were good. Husband got the Brisket and said it was incredible and exceeded his expectations. Wish there were a few more options on the menu and we felt the entree portions were a little smaller than expected. Although I did see comments on other reviews about staff not wearing masks, we still felt safe when dining. We dined on a Tuesday night, so it wasn’t packed but we never felt crammed or uncomfortable. We do both think staff touching guests’ plates, glassware, eating utensils should probably still wear a little longer. I work for a big hospitality company and all of our employees are still required to wear masks. However, this will not keep us from coming back and that is a touchy subject that everyone can have their own thoughts about.
My wife’s Cosmopolitan was quite sour, while my Manhattan was excellent. We have had better food(French Dip) at other restaurants.
