hand-crafted cocktails all served in a casual-elegant environment.
This is an amazing farm to table restaurant with an ever changing menu. I can’t say enough about the service, the food and the ambiance. Though i was there only for brunch, I’d say this was the best meal i ever had in Orlando
The service is always on point! The staff is very attentive and friendly. Food is exceptional in taste. The only negatives are: the restaurant can get a little loud at times and it can be hard to hear conversation at your table & the entrees are priced on the high end. Overall, I think this a very good restaurant.
Mark, our server was awesome. There when he was needed but yet gave us space as well.
Amazing brunch menu - everything was fresh and creative.
The service form Kevin was fantastic!
The tuna salad had no flavor
We were seated by the kitchen even though the restaurant was not full. I do like to see the cooking but what we mostly got was a lot of talking by staff. Would have been nicer if we were seated in the back. Food came way too quickly. Definitely felt that they were in a hurry to turn our table. Food was good but not memorable. Fried calamari was limp, chopped salad was good, drinks great, bucatini over cooked, brisket very good, gnocchi good. We were done with dinner in 35 minutes - not a way that I want to spend money to have time with friends
Not the most lively hostess team. Service was a tad slow. Nothing really special about the restaurant, food or service
Overall our experience here was good. However, we had to send a steak back as it was cooked medium rare instead of medium well. By the time they had cooked another one, everyone else at the table had finished their main course. On eating the second steak, it was cooked well around the edges, but again was medium rare in the middle. A little disappointed that they got it wrong twice, but they didn’t charge for it. Everyone else’s food was delicious (in particular the Thai curried grouper), and the server and on/duty manager couldn’t have been nicer. Will definitely give it another try
Actually, there was a mishap on Opentable where they allowed a booking during a time where Slate was not open. We arrive to Slate at 4:00 and it’s closed.
Later I receive a message from the manager Brandon who apologized for the confusion and requested we come back in as dinner would be on Slate to make up the experience. Wow!
I must say they went above and beyond and provided ya with the upmost professionalism and courtesy. We rarely go out for dinner but we must say Slate, in addition to having wonderful ambience and food, has also stepped their game up with taking care of their guests!
See you soon Slate and much appreciate your gratitude!

The service was exceptional, the atmosphere comfortable and the food was outstanding. I was visiting Orlando and this restaurant was recommended. If I were local this place would be a favorite. Kyle was our host/waiter and he was exceptional.
Mark was excellent! New Years Eve menu was great
New Years Eve Dinner. I ordered their New Year’s Eve menu which included a sirloin steak that did not taste like a steak to me. I sent the steak back and replaced it with a striped bass that was over cooked.
They have a new chef and it appears that the team has not worked out their issues yet. This used to be one of our favorite restaurants but I will not return until I read that things have improved in your reviews.
Slate had been on our “Must Try” list since it opened. New Year’s weekend offered us the opportunity.
Summary first…details second.
We were glad we went and would go again. Extensive wine list, although my wife and I are more beer & cocktails. Beer list was limited, although they had a handful of local craft brews. The cocktail list was unique, flavorful, and well executed. I would return just for the cocktails.
The food was good, but not great. The vibe and our host bartender (Samir) really made the experience for us. I would describe the restaurant as contemporary, rustic, & organic. I would be comfortable both casually dressed and dressed for an occasion. The restaurant is roomy and accommodates seekers of either privacy or social.
If an option, we prefer to sit at the bar. Our bartender, Samir, validated this approach. He turned a nice dinner into a great experience. His passion for mixology was evident and appreciated.
My wife had the 8 Oz. Wood-Grilled Filet Mignon ($39). While the filet was very tender and had excellent flavor, the healthy portion of accompanying potatoes and broccolini were less than average and just filler. I encouraged my wife to go with a healthy side of ketchup to bring it to life! (no-go)
I ordered the Grouper, but since they ran out and were replacing it with Sea Bass, I opted for the House-Made Sweet Potato Gnocchi ($28). Not something I would normally order, but overall I was pleasantly surprised. The actual sweet-potato Gnocci was very mild, but the overall dish was rich and incredibly flavorful. The serving size was appropriate, but a little smaller than was appetite was hoping for. (Kim’s potatoes to the rescue. “Ketchup please”)
We will keep this on our list as an option for when we are on this side of town. I would love to try the Smoked Brisket dish. (Brown Sugar-Chili Rub, Butternut Squash Grits, Cilantro, Cumin-Lime Aioli, Fried Jalapeno $29)
The service was excellent, my favorite fish Grouper was not available which made the meal less than perfect.
I choose brisket which I have had several times and the sausage in the dish was great.
Wine selections were great.
The noise level was a little loud and we were seated under an Air conditioning outlet so it was very cold.
My companion and I were the first customers of the day so we had a lot of attention from our server. As others arrived he maintained a very high level of service throughout our meal.
My tablemate had fish tacos which were made with the catch of the day, blackened Mahi Mahi. The tacos were filled with a generous serving of large pieces of fish and also had a bite, maybe from the blackened seasoning. I had a walk down memory lane by ordering a grilled cheese sandwich and tomato soup. This was reminiscent of sitting at the kitchen as a 12 year old while my mother was making Campbell's soup and Kraft cheese on white bread but mom's cooking was nothing like this. The tomato bisque had a rich smokey flavor that wasn't too creamy. The grilled cheese was gouda and Taso ham on nicely toasted sourdough bread, full of flavor and not too rich.
I haven't visited Slate in a while but after this fine experience I'll be back again soon.
Love the atmosphere here. It is obvious a lot of attention went into the decor and construction. The food is good but nothing super unique or special. But if you are looking for reliably good food and a beautiful atmosphere to enjoy company with- this place is great!
Our food came out room temperature on 3 of 4 meals and needed to be redone.
It is a great place to celebrate a special occasion. It is the 2nd Year we have celebrated my husband birthday and we look forward for next year.
Mark , our server did a fantastic job .
We’ll be back. Thanks
Chris was fantastic, great wine pick
Sat at the bar. Enjoyed the charcuterie and cheese platter and meatballs. Bartender friendly snd sttentive
Seriously awesome!! If you’re a foodie go! Great atmosphere great service and phenomenal food upscale bar that will make you want to go back!
Great quality food that was fresh and tasty. Loved the cozy atmosphere.
Food was terrible and service matched it!!
Hostess and server were very good apps came out very quickly then entrees were delayed. Server told us that chef was not happy with quality and was preparing new entrees. Then we waited about 30 mins and were served 1 entree, then 15 mins later manager brought out 1 entree and then I had to ask the server where the third entree was. Then the manager brought out the third entree and said “it’s my bad sorry I didn’t bring this with the other entree.” Very unprofessional.
The atmosphere is wonderful. Service was not good at all. Had to wait 10 minutes just to be greeted at our table. Wait time for drinks was longer than expected after taking order. Food was great however and the ambiance was excellent.
Great date night! The server was very knowledgeable with the menu, he answered all our questions. We were very pleased with our selection on the restaurant. It was our first time. My husband enjoyed the brisket with grits and it was delicious. I had the sweet potato gnocchis with steak. It wasn’t what I was expecting and I wouldn’t order it again. The steak was prepared perfectly but the potato gnocchis were okay. They also had a drink selection!
Creative take on the cuisines. Portions are a little shy. I had 4 small scallops and had to eat all the potatoes to be full (which I generally don't). Crab dip was excellent and about right for 2 people. My wife had the flat iron steak and was plenty for her and was very tasty. Very nice people and great service. Stout beer was served at the right temperature.
Slate is always a favorite for dinner or happy hour with my wife or friends. They have a great weekend brunch menu too. I decided to take my team for Christmas this year and it was my first time with a larger group. I worried that the experience would be different but not at all. As usual, the creativity in the menu was exceptional and the execution was excellent. Our server, Kyle was just fantastic - full of recommendations that were well thought out and articulated beautifully. He was attentive without being overwhelming. Once again, not disappointed!
Had a very good experience on a Sunday late afternoon dinner. Very good service. Had the happy hour chicken pizza which was excellent. Nice wine, after going through several to chose one we liked. Very good entrees. The noise level was just moderate since it was a slow time. We will return for sure.
Our experience was ok. I have two points that I would like to make regarding my birthday reservation for 6. The female waitress attire for this place is absolutely horrible. The gray unironed T-shirt that our waitress had on was a bit repulsive for such a nice ambiance. I would have preferred one of the males with the jeans and plaid shirts as a server. Our server looked like she should be at a fast food chain, her hair was up in a pony tail and she just looked plain old sloppy. I announced that it was my nephews birthday and although she brought the dessert menu she didn’t acknowledge the birthday boy at all. Her personality was dry and dull she wasn’t very friendly and by her presentation you can tell she was just there to get the job done. Nothing exceptional! When we stood up to leave she looked up but never said thank you which to me seemed rude especially after leaving her a decent tip. If I had a choice for another dinner party I may only choose this place because of the ambiance and brick oven pizza but that would be it. I am kind of disappointed and hope some of these suggestions can be taken into consideration. Maybe the waitress can take típs from the cute and very well presented host that night. Her all black outfit, well groomed hair, light make up and friendly smile make her more suited for the position. Unfortunately our waitress that night was more fit in the back room washing the dishes.
Great brunch with excellent food and service
Dinner was delicious. Wait staff was attentive but not hovering. Lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend.
We have been to Slate many time and have it enjoyed it. This time it was a little different. Our service was not really up to par. We were a party of 6 and we ordered drinks, which we waited quite awhile for and then we ordered appetizers. The appetizers came our fairly quickly but the entrees took a little while, which was ok because we ordered another round of drinks. When the entrees did come out, one was missing. We waited and waited and no one said any thing about the missing meal. After 10 minutes we flagged our server down because she was not the one that brought the food out and didn't check to see if every thing was ok once we got served. We asked her where the meal was and she looked surprised. She went to check with the kitchen and then came back and made some lame excuse and then a few more minutes later, the other meal was served. The problem was, almost everyone else had already finished their meal. She never offered to give us a dessert or a drink for the inconvenience. We still decided to order dessert and after dinner drinks and even those seemed to also take a very long time. We asked for the bill and we were very surprised to see that the meal that was so late, was still on the bill and not even dessert had been discounted or taken off to apologize for the error. The bill was almost $500 and we are usually very big tippers but my husband only tipped 15% this time because of this. It is sad that no one really even acknowledge the problem and we didn't feel like we should have to bring it up. We were just really surprised by it all.
Office Christmas party. Everyone had a great time and food was fantastic. We were able to get in, eat a great meal and move on to our next event if the evening.
The food was phenomenal! The drinks were creative and delicious. Our dessert was the finishing touch.
And Kyle, our waiter, made the package complete. We really had a great dinner out in Orlando tonight!
Really loved the atmosphere and service was great! Food was overall good - what can be expected of a middle-upper priced restaurant but nothing was outstanding. Was hoping for more when we received some of the homemade recipes such as the hummus but it tasted overall ok
First time visit.
We started with the Fried Green Tomatoes. $10 for three pieces was a bit steep.
For entrees we ordered the House Fennel Sausage Pizza and side salad, Chopped Salad w/ Blackened Chicken, and the Flat Iron Steak. All the food was excellent. However, the price charged for the side salad $9, and $17 for the entree salad with chicken was out of line.
Our waitress was excellent.
Not worth the price.
Sunday brunch...the Slate Benedict and ham and cheese omelette were out of this world! You must try the cocktail with the Capeletti and grapefruit bitters; I’ve forgotten its name, but will definitely have another when we go back. Our server really knew the menu, made great recommendations, and went above and beyond when my husband inquired about a cocktail with orange bitters that he had at another restaurant. She wrote down all the ingredients and took it to the bartender to see what they could do. The Slate version was everything he could have hoped for! Major kudos to everyone who took care of us on Sunday, December 2nd at 1:30. I wish I was better at remembering names so I could thank you publicly, but everyone should know that the service, food, and drink at Slate were perfect!
