Slanted Door - San Ramon
Arrived late for our reservation, but were seated quickly. Place was not busy for a Saturday afternoon.
We were seated off on the left side and were the only ones seated in that section. Just as I feared, waitress seemed to have forgotten us in that section. We were nearly invisible.
Another couple was seated later in the same section, but they requested to be in the main dining section. They were not as patient as we were.
Food was average at best. Overpriced and extremely slow food service. On a non crowded Sunday lunch time, each dish came out 10 min apart. Reserved outdoor table were given to walk-ins.
This was my first time at this restaurant in San Ramon.
Previously, we were trying to get a table, but the line was for about 1.5 hours...
This time, we were smart enough to make a reservation in advance :)
Food was great and tasty. Service was perfect.
I would recommend to order "family style" and share all dishes.
food was fantastic. Our server was friendly, helpful and on top of it!!
We had lunch here and the food was a bit bland. It had to have been what we ordered - the chicken salad, as I have had other dishes here for dinner that were dynamite. The service is always outstanding and professional. The decor is cafeteria-like....
It was delicious but pricey!
I would rate it a 6 out of 10. Cocktail glasses are small and food is expensive for what you get. It was good but not sure if I will go back.
Food was excellent, as was the service. My favorites were Black Cod and the Tomato Salad. Also had clay pot chicken , scallops-very good-corn &padrone pepper salad-excellent-and veggie spring rolls, good but everything else was better. Plan to visit again very soon. Service was excellent.
Not too much fancy but foods all good and good services
The ambiance at the San Ramon version of Slanted Door is quite different from the Ferry Terminal version however the food remains absolutely top notch. We ordered three different dishes and all were excellent. In addition, the manager brought us a gratis extra dish (pork belly) and it was also excellent. The only reason I did not give it an overall excellent rating was that it was very noisy for my taste but since I am 71 years old it is probably just my life perspective.
First time. We’ll be going again. It was a delicious lunch.
Great service! Enjoyed the food, esp the ribs and crispy egg rolls. Just a bit pricey for Vietnamese cuisine.
The broccoli was not edible. The chicken hot pot was nothing special. The crispy imperial roles were great. Overall, this place is better than your average chinese restaurant, but not worth the prices that are 3-4 times more. PF changs has better food for a fraction of the cost. I'm going there from now on.
Third time. First at this new location. It’s fun. Unique choices. Nice presentation. Excellent food. Our dishes came too quickly however. Black cod delicious but portion too small for the price. Setting too stark. Like the ferry building.
Excellent food. However, ribs and prawns were seasoned too heavily and too salty, even when eaten with rice
Food is good. Love the ambiance. Server was nice but slow.
Linseys at the bar
Extremely small portions for the price.
Tables too close together.
Different menu from San Francisco, the choices we made were unfortunately disappointing for us.
We were looking for an amazing authentic Vietnamese restaurant to take my mother in law for her birthday.
There were 4 of us and our 9-month old daughter in a highchair. We were accommodated at the perfect table near a door so we could easily take our daughter for walks around the courtyard when she got bored.
The server was very friendly and helped guide through the menu. I would have appreciated a more proactive approach to refilling water and clearing dirty dishes. Especially when dining family style.
The chicken in the clay pot was my favorite dish but all of the food was so delicious; the cocktails and dessert were memorable.
Great and interesting food. Setting for restaurant was a little antiseptic. Did not feel warm and felt like a lunch counter. SF version has better ambiance. Overall great food will keep us coming back.
The food was amazing and our server was friendly and attentive. We had a fabulous time!
Every dish was delicious! Four of us had the papaya salad, the dumplings and calamari as appetizers and the Sea bream, broccoli and eggplant for dinner. Atmosphere is fun and noisy. Service was good. Was very expensive but would be worth it occasionally as the food was so different and wonderful!
Service was nice and friendly. Food is good too. However, the ambiance was lacking. It did not have the same San Francisco Slanted Door feel and that was something we were expecting.
Good food and hip crowd. Service was excellent. I would recommend to others highly.
My husband and I had a Friday date night here. They were able to easily convert our counter seating to a dining table, which was nice. Dishes were ok, but really could have kicked it up with the flavors and seasoning. But the most frustrating thing was that each dish we ordered came out one by one with a lag in between. The flavors may have been better if they could have complimented each other, but we didn’t get the chance to try more than 1 at a time... also making for a more drawn out dinner, and it didn’t seem like they were needing the table anyway... we didn’t feel like we’d be going back given we didn’t feel like we got the “bang” for our buck.
This restaurant is a welcome addition to the East Bay. The food was unusual, so delicious and beautifully presented. Our service was just great. We will definitely be returning.
This is an excellent restaurant. Great food in very pleasant setting. We had outstanding service from our server Maggie Carpenter.
Wow the prices are outrageous!
Unique dishes. Definitely not afraid to experiment. I'll be back!
Great food and service. A very lovely spot. Glad to have Slanted Door on this side of the Bay.
Service was good and the atmosphere was relaxing. But the food was overpriced, small portions, and flavorless. We got the won ton noodle soup and the pho noodle soup. The broth in both had no taste. And there were a very small number of tiny won tons in the soup. The only good dish we had was corn and it was $11 for a small plate.
had a great time and loved Morgan!!! I would recommend this to all my friends / family and cannot wait to go back!
We had a reservation but were not seated until 30 min after our reservation time . The hostess was terrible ... she kept saying it will be a few more minutes ... for 30 min. Then they ended up seating us at a table that had been empty the entire time ! Not a great start ! Then we were given gluten free menus ... by same hostess . We had not asked for them and our server is the one that caught it . But our server was wonderful & the food was great . Fairly pricy though for small quantity.
The Food and Service were excellent. However the seating is VERY UNCOMFORTABLE. Also our table was just inches away from a large party.
Love the food, but the overall dining experience is not worth $200 for two people.
We didn't care for the sugar + black pepper coating on sweet potato donuts. The seating layout is great -- for the restaurant owners: high-density and flexible.
Enjoyable experience from the outside seating with a musician playing in the background to the attentive server who specifically highlighted what I could eat on the menu since I am a vegan.
I guess you would say I frequent the restaurant. I go about twice a month and am never disappointed.
Service was fantastic. Food was good. A great place to get together with friends.
WOW this restaurant was amazing. Our server was extremely helpful, he made excellent suggestions. We had Slanted door Spring Rolls, so delicious, then the Gau Choy Gow also delicious then the Shaking Beef OMG I still dream about it then the Peach Melba it was amazing now I wish we hadn't shared and I got my own. We will definitely be back
Very good food and service. Beautiful restaurant but price too high and portions small for the price. Two people ate lunch last Friday. No alcohol price was $90 plus well earned tip but we both left still hungry. Good to go for the experience but I would not go back to get a plentiful meal.
