The food was good but the service was horrible. My friend told them it was my birthday so they would do something and they completely blew him off and ignored his request.
Good tasty food! Look forward to a more expanded menu.
Outstanding food and service as always! Although I’m always a huge fan their shaking beef, the pork chop was exceptional!!!! Celebrated my sister’s b day! They did a flourless cake with candle. We all got a taste of the cake, fantastic cake! Will always go back when I crave for a wonderful upscale Vietnamese fusion meal!!!!!
We waited 40 minutes for our drinks but once they came, they were delicious. Food was also awesome!
Excellent experience! Can’t wait to enjoy again.
Great experience for my Wife’s Bday. Had a private room. Food and service was great
What an amazing restaurant to eat deliciously and the perfect ambiance to have a wonderful time, the slanted door is my favorite restaurant in San Ramon.
It was a weird experience. We came to Slanted Door for a cause dinner. Two friends wanting to catch up over dinner. We knew exactly what we wanted to order but the waitress seems super assertive and insisted we add this, add that and order this drink and that drink during our visit. It was a bit uncomfortable. When the bill came she said we added 20% gratuity to the bill. It is to compensate the staffs in the kitchen. We hope you are okay with it.
Clearly she didn’t give us a choice. We understand the pandemic has devastated the restaurant business and we are doing our part to help. We wish to be informed of the high gratuity charges and for the waiters/waitresses to relax and service what the customers order.
Food was great. The range of menu offerings including vegetarian and vegan dishes was much appreciated.
One of the best meals I've ever had. Everything was fresh; everything was prepared so beautifully. Entrees were expensive though -- it would be hard to make this a casual choice. For a special occasion, though, this would be my go-to choice.
This was not the well-oiled machine of the SF location. Middling service with large gaps in attentiveness. I was really disappointed. The food was enjoyable, but for those prices and brand reputation I expected a lot more.
Great experience for family Easter Lunch
Pork chops were amazing and Francisco have excellent service at the bar.
Very happy to see this epic restaurant back open to the public.
Shaking Beef is awesome
The food and service was amazing as always. Nice outside dinning patio
Delicious food . Imperial rolls were good so was the papaya salad
We were very disappointed celebrating my birthday at the slanted door last week. We regularly go to the city but thought we would try this one being closer to where we live. Service, ambiance value were are poor. No regular decaf coffee available at the end. The 20% built in service fee was not deserved. We will not return and not promote the san Ramon store again.
I’ve been wanting to go back after the pandemic and yesterday had the spectacular experience I remember from the “old days”, our server was friendly, attentive and provided us with great service and the food was exceptional.
The filet was tough. However, the “rolls” were excellent. We did not like the fact that even though there were only 3 in our party, a 20% gratitude was added without telling us.
The patio is beautiful and tables are distanced. The service team was fantastic and food of course was delicious.
Great food outdoor seating with lots of space between tables. Wonderful lunch experience, felt safe and “normal”. Will be back!
I never been to Slanted Door in San Ramon before and probably will never go back the Brussels spouts were flakes and the food was over salty I had prawns my friend had the beef bowl and he was disappointed more so. I hope the one in SF at the ferry building hasn’t changed when it come back bc it was great
Drinks were very expensive. No BBQ oven smoked smell, menu seemed limited. I’ll go back when things get back to normal.
Food is wonderful and the staff very friendly and helpful
Great to be back inside! Nice job of managing the people and space!
Great service and good food! Looking forward to go back more often.
Our server was so rude and messed up our order and then double charged us. Poor experience. We won’t be back.
Crispy Imperial rolls are the best!
We wanted to love it as we live nearby but the food and service were just okay. And then you see the bill (with automatic 20% gratuity) and it’s just not worth it. The yellow tail (4 pieces) and spring rolls were like so many we’ve had at restaurants half the price. The peanut sauce was the only star. The chicken in clay pot was tasty but way too salty. The carmelized shrimp were yummy. The Brussel sprouts were crispy but bland; needed something sour or sweet. The Manhattan was nothing special and a small pour. The server started off great but then got busy as we had to flag her down for the check and to go containers. Has great potential but they need to decide...keep prices high but dramatically improve taste and service. Or drop prices. Until then, we will go elsewhere.
Eating indoors again! What a fantastic experience. We tried about five or six dishes and all were cook properly, fresh, tasty and myself and the four of us commented how enjoyable each was. The waitress was very accommodating, listened carefully and attentive to our table. She was also supported by another individual who took care of ancillary needs in a professional manner. Bobby who manages a restaurant keeps the pace and quality going in an invisible way.
You will not be disappointed
I love this restaurant!!! The food, as always, is so tasty. I could eat their lemongrass tofu and vegetarian spring rolls and brown rice every day. There were four of us and one dog. Even though the evening was a bit chilly, we were very comfortable eating outside as they had heaters going and their outdoor eating area is protected from the wind. Just a lovely evening at the Slanted Door!
My first experience at Slanted Door was opening week. So needless to say, this was night and day. And this was in the midst of the pandemic. Safe clean warm outside table, great service. Beat crunchy imperial rolls the is my new craving. Shaking beef was perfectly done. Rice cake can be a miss. Nothing special. Excellent chicken in clay pot. And don’t forget the bok choy and rice. Lovely expensive cocktail. As was the meal. But we will come back.
Quality of food low. I have been here and in SF pre pandemic. Service fine.
Slanted Door food is very overpriced, to the point of ridiculous. My cellophane noodle dish was terrible! My husband's pork chops were good, but one chop had over 1/2" or more of fat along the chop! We know all restaurants are hurting financially, but we did
not get quality food worth the check. Sadly, we will never return to Slanted Door - any location!
Another great experience- will be even better when we can be inside!
The food was a little salty and the flourless chocolate cake was too airy, I wish it was more dense, flavor was good though. Excellent whiskey drink and service.
Greta service. Ate outdoor. Great heating which was nice as it was cool.
Amazing Brussels Sprouts!!!! Going back just for them and not sharing.
The slanted door has been one of my favorite restaurants for twenty years. I will continue to support them but hope as time goes on the menu is expanded and the wait staff gets a little more help.
I dream of the sf slanted door opening again. It was the last place i ate before we shut down last march
