Sky Room, located in New York Citys Theater District, serves a variety of upscale American cuisine accompanied by views of Manhattans famous skyline. The restaurant has a full bar which includes both domestic and imported beer, wine and spirits. Sky Room is able to host private events for special occasions such as wedding receptions or holiday parties.
Start out your meal at Sky Room with a drink and one of the restaurants appetizers to share like the cheese meatballs or the pommes frites. If youre not hungry for a full meal, try a small plate like the sweet corn and bacon flatbread or the General Tsos chicken nuggets.
8 off us in New York to celebrate my husbands 50 - the restaurant also provided a smal cake at no charge . we had a fab eve .
Basic night club selling food, very music so loud couldn't talk or hear each other, hosts just shout at you .. service? What service had to go to bar myself, waited 20 minutes for menu,, host didn't come back after 40 mins left.. Very disappointed ...
Before you are allowed up the elevator, you MUST check your coat, which is a $3 fee per coat. At the time we went (5pm) it was so early that the restaurant (really more of a bar/lounge) was empty and it wouldn't have been an issue for us to have kept our coats - it's just another way of making money. I felt as if we were treated gruffly by the elevator/bouncer/security person. We should have turned around at this point and left at the coat check. The food was fine - we ordered fried calamari, sliders, and pizza. The waitress was attentive and pleasant. View of the city was very nice. Each app was about $14 and a pitcher of margarita's was $89. I will not be going back.
too loud for me and too much security fuss getting upstairs
Good vibe but disappointed in the views. No opportunity to go to roof terrace and outdoor pool with 360 views of Manhattan.
Take I.D with you even if you are over 25! Need it to pay for anything over $50.00. Very small and no separate dining area.
3.5 - 5
Nice rooftop bar!
Sky Room has a beautiful view of NYC! Different ambiances for you to chose what fits better your mood that night. Music is fun, food is good and servers are kind! Wine is served in plastic glasses and mine was really hot. So I would not order it again. Also, OpenTable clients are only allowed to stay in a bar downstairs without the nice view. Found it really inconvenient and had to negotiate with hostess to stay in the rooftop area, which, of course, was my intention when I reserved that bar.
We got there right before 5pm and had to wait a couple of minutes until they opened the elevator. Was not packed for a Friday happy hour, which is great for me. My group had a good time until the happy hour was over and the music got really loud and we couldn't hear each other anymore. It has a great view, nice ambiance. It is not a restaurant, it is a bar. Doorman and servers were pleasant. But if you are a man don't come with shorts, I saw 2 guys being turned away.
Great for get together
The bruschetta was delicious and the silders were good but the service was horrible. Our waitress kept walking by ignoring us. At one point we tried to make eye contact with one of the five employees just hanging out at the bar so we could get something. We ended up asking a gentleman who I think was the elevator doorman because he walked by and looked at us. We noticed other people sitting for a long time too before getting their orders taken. The hostess was also not welcoming or open to any form of discussion and brushed me and my friend aside when we tried to ask her about something. Good food but definitely not good service.
Very disappointed with the quality of the food. We learned about this place from a special promotion.
This is a club where you get Id's and stamped on the way in by serious bouncers, where you are required to check your coats before getting in line (don't stand there! move over! make room!) for an elevator that takes you to a rooftop bar. Based on the totally inaccurate description "Sky Room Restaurant" I asked the hostess where the restuarant is and she replied that there is not restaurant but you can sit at the bar or in the lounge chairs (not there! that area's reserved!) and order some bar bites.
As a bar/club it deserves 2 stars for being nice enough but lame and with bouncers who order you around a lot, but as a restuarant it deserves no stars because it is not a restaurant.
not a restaurant, but has a nice happy hour vibe and is very beautiful inside and out
Great view of the city. Food and drinks are a little expensive. They have different drinks ,
Beautiful view, terrible food, drinks way too strong, interesting and eclectic mix of people.
Awesome view, friendly people, good service. Coctails just ok.
Security had us on their list so we got our wrist stamped & up we went. Pleasant security. Arrived up to be told that Open Table have what in our opinion were the rubbish tables. Not really dinner tables at all. More sofas/mini tables looking onto a car park & construction site. There are tables which actually have a good view at the top but these are not available to OT customers apparently, so completely disappointed as that is why we booked to go. There was an event on later so all other tables were reserved for that. We nipped up the stairs & had a brief look out the windows but felt a little uncomfortable. Felt like every move was being watched. Almost left but glad we stayed as food was amazing. Wouldn't book here via OT again
Skyroom is beyond loud - the music is cranked up to ear drum shattering levels as early as 5:30. Even wines that should be good for some reason are not. The food is overpriced and not inventive at all. Food seems to be served purely to allow you to drink more horrible wine. I'd stick with liquor or beer at this place for sure. Unless you are looking for a club-like atmosphere avoid this place altogether. I went with my team from work and while we had great laughs about the volume of the music we could not actually talk to each other at all.
Drinks are great.
Music is awesome.
View is spectacular.
I'm definitely coming back!
I had a wonderful view of the city. Lauren provided me with a nice location. The food and drinks was good. Lauren and the bartender were great.
You won't be getting dinner here but you will get a Great View and an appetizer or two! Had the Tuna Tartar, which was pretty good! Paired it with a Sauvignon Blanc. Also, ordered the Truffle Fries....were just ok at the Happy hour price of $8, but would not recommend at the non Happy Hour price of $15....
food was pretty good . sort of pricey but good .
when I got to the sky room the hostess didn't have any it knowledge meant of my reservations that I made well in advanced. Besides that beautiful place and I would definitely recommend it
Similar to most roof top type bars... great view and makes for a fun drink or two with a date. Quesadillas were great, but not a place to go for food that is completely heated or that you expect to stay hot by the time it gets there from the kitchen on the main floor. Waitress was fun and spunky but I think she needed another two or three to help her. Actually at one point she admitted she had just been talking to other people for too long. Wasnt really in a hurry so it didn't matter but she could of sold a few more drinks had she come by more often.
My party was so disappointed in this establishment. I'm sure it has it's following, but it doesn't seem appropriate to be featured with Open Table. It is not up to what I consider your standards. It was a bar scene and the waitresses looked like call girls. Not at all what we were expecting. I will read between the lines with reviews in the future. I could not recommend this for anyone.
Sky Bar clearly a hit among the trendy set, but for this 40-something professional who was looking for a place to have a drink and conversation, the music and scene was just too loud for us. Not yet crowded at the beginning of happy hour, it was still too loud to hear my colleague speak. Also, even though we had made a reservation, he was forced to stand in line at the lobby level before being allowed up by an intimidating bouncer. Just not our scene.
Nice view, descent food. Horrible service and that starts with the rough guy / bouncer. There is no reason to be extremely rude and borderline confrontational. I saw this with my own eyes waiting to get on the elevator and that should have been a sign for the rest of our evening.
We came in on a Monday night and were pleased with the beautiful Southern views of the Empire State Building and downtown NYC, not to mention a lovely sunset. Our host, Matt I believe his name was, was an absolute pleasure. They had a some very fun karaoke on the other side of the top level going on but we were shy so we just watched everyone else, lol.
Their happy hour is from 5 until 8 or 9pm, and it's moderately priced especially for Times Square. We had a very good time here and would definitely come again.
Try the bruschetta if you get a chance!
Great scenery of the New York City skyline. Service was fantastic. Many beautiful people from the cocktail servers to the clientele. Would highly recommend the Sky Room for private events or just an exciting night out on the town with friends or a night out with your significant other.
This was a great find. I had heard a lot about the Sky Room, but had never ventured to try it. Was not disappointed. Great night scene and above all what a breathtaking view of the Manhattan skyline. Wow!
Had a great night out on the town with my wife. Awesome scenic view as well as great music. Bartenders and waitress were fantastic . Would definitely go again .
My wife and I were looking for a nice spot for drinks before a show, and stumbled upon Sky Room. What a treat! It's very convenient to Times Square, and the view is incredible. We wanted the true New York experience, and this was it. Beautiful venue, and incredible view. Our waitress was very helpful too. We'll definitely be back before our next show.
