Some dishes were very good and some not so great. Shrimp and Grits and the Tuna Bowl were yummy, but the crab cakes and snow crab were not so great. Dessert was also delicious. Overall a good time and likely your best choice in the area.
The food was excellent especially on a hot day! A must go to eatery with great views!
Overcooked filet mignon ruined the experience for me. Views were beautiful but for an expensive dish you expect it to be cooked right. Seafood was decent and hush puppies and crab dip were good but the deal with the filet set the tone for me and made me feel like I wasted my money.
Overall very nice...need more sun shade outside..bigger umbrellas ?
Nothing to tell
Our server, Maddie, couldn’t have been any nicer. She was very quick and attentive. Also the owner came over and thanked us for choosing his restaurant. Beautiful view, excellent food, and amazing staff! We will be back.
The only down fall was the size of the entre. One of our guests had to order another to accompany the fish tacos he got and my husband ordered a trio platter and ended up eating half of mine too. This was with appetizers and drinks beforehand. Other than that the food all tasted great and the atmosphere was perfect for a night out
We first started frequenting Skippers five years ago. The service was great, the food quality was consistent and good. Over the past 2-3 years, the quality of the food has declined, until their new menu came out. It is better, but they offer extremely limited options for those with food allergies. And, the consistency of the food is hit or miss. Service has been horrible for the last three years, with the exception of one bartender who typically works outside. She is great! When sitting outside and only two tables of two (us being one) in the dock bar, with two people working out there, the servers/bartenders NEVER looked at us. We had to go up to the bar, order drinks, go back to order food, go back to order more drinks. The latest was this past Saturday. Our table of ten sitting on the deck with a table covered in pollen - totally understandable. It's spring. When I asked our server to if we could get the table wiped off, she wiped the section in front of me only! LOL Everyone else just started laughing. We waited 15 minutes (we timed it) for our drink order to be taken. Waited for another 15 to get some of the drinks. At one point we just went to the bar to get drinks. Even getting water refills was an issue - someone asked the server to just bring us a couple of pitchers of water - that never happened.
When the server took appetizer orders, she just started to leave when coincidentally several of us yelled: "Don't leave, take our entree order!" We'd been there about an hour at this point. One person's lunch finally came out, then much later the rest of the table's came out. Fortunately, everyone enjoyed their meal.
The view is phenomenal here. The food is usually good. But the service is increasingly bad and it the restaurant, deck and dock bar could use a good cleaning. Us and a multitude of our local friends rarely go anymore because of these issues.
What a disappointment! Took friends here from out of town and ended up battling flies at our table throughput the whole meal. We were there for early dinner but they only had small crabs left which had zero meat in them, the waitress was nice but MIA much of the time because she was too busy so everyone’s meals came out at different times, and the sun was in our eyes the whole time because there are no shades on the window!
The whole place was dirty and in need of a good cleanup and reno. We have been longtime fans of Skippers but not anymore. Our last three visits have been awful.
Note to the owners: you just lost three good customers today. Take a hard look at the experience you’re offering people. It’s in bad shape. Fix it before it degrades any further.
Food was great! Service was poor! Waitress was overwhelmed with to many tables.
Always memorable; have been going back to Skipper's for over 25 years!
It took a decent amount of time for the food to come to the table. Everyone enjoyed their dishes, myself included but my crab legs were hardly even lukewarm when delivered.
Overall we had a good time, we'll try it again.
I travel a ton and dine out constantly. Grace is one of the best waitresses I’ve met. Great service and super friendly. Really appreciated her understanding of a food allergy at the table and looked out for us the entire night. Food was awesome! Tuna bowl was top notch!
We lived in Maryland for 25 years before moving to Florida. We went to Skippers many times. This was a very special occasion to go to Skippers again with friends who still live in Maryland. The manager was attentive and made certain things worked perfectly. Another great memory.
I'm a local and eat here often and Skipper's Pier never disappoints! The menu was recently re-done and there are some very yummy new additions as well as many of the old favorites! Everyone in our group enjoyed the evening - the food and service were both top notch and after dinner we enjoyed listening to the live music at the dock bar. This is truly a neighborhood gem!
Decent but not excellent food. The noise level is horrible and you need to yell just to be heard. The manager should walk around and check on tables.
Great location! Great food! Really good service! We often go to the tiki bar to listen to live music on the weekends. The menu has a nice variety of food items to suit everyone's tastes and the waterview makes it just that much more enjoyable. Boat and motorcycle friendly, too!
Great Service the food was awesome; our waitress was very helpful and quick with everything she deserves a raise.
The food was delicious-we had a variety of items...crabs, shrimp, shrimp and grits, shrimp linguine, fish and chips-everything was delicious! The service was very good. BUT, the restaurant itself needs some improvements. It was 3:00 when we arrived and the afternoon sun was coming in the open garage door window so 2 tables asked to close the door which totally cut any airflow off. It was stifling hot and full of flies. The fans don't blow any air-I actually think they are on the winter setting. The women's restroom was out of service and was the last time we were there. The noise level was so loud I couldn't hear anything from people sitting 2 seats down. If the weather isn't too hot sit outside and you'll have a great time. Inside, not so much!
Perfect place on the water and amazing food! Great spot for kids, too.
Always nice to eat out on the water, food is good especially the appetizers and fish tacos, great local spot with a dock bar and plenty of outdoor seating
Me and my girlfriends enjoyed dinning at this restaurant and will come back again. The food was good and did not take long to get after we placed our order. One complaint - the waitress created a mess when it was time to pay the bill and it took a long time to get it cleared up.
I was still celebrating my birthday with family/friends we had a blast 😊😉Alicia my waiter was phenomenal 🎊🎊🎊kudos
The food was excellent with a spectacular view.
So delicious and had a few snafoo's. We were there celebrating a 94th Birthday for my father-in-law and the restaurant is a family favorite. We were told we would get inside seating and we did, sort of, we were inside yet patio doors were open on a 95 degree evening. Food was amazing and the flies agreed. Suggest ceiling fans to assist with this. Our waitress was not as attentive as she should have been with condiments and water on a hot night
Made reservations online when restaurant was closed and it all worked out. Went for a birthday, the atmosphere was excellent, the service great and the food even better. Love Skippers Pier.
I have eaten there before but very disappointed with the crabs, sent them back, too noisy, too hot, cramped space, too busy, our waitress did stop by to see what else we needed, so when she did, we had a lot of request for her with a group of 10.
Six of us had a reservation at 5:30 on the 4th for dinner. We were seated promptly. Good variety of seafood and beverages. Drinks came out quickly, as did our calimari appetizer, which was excellent. Tender and crisp, just how I like it. Of note were the fried whole belly clams, normally, only the strips are served ~ very good. Two of us ordered the tomatoes pie and were very pleased, however, 2 of us ordered the fish and chips, only to be told 15 mins later that the sold out ~ weird since we came so early. Fortunately, they substituted grilled rockfish for the fish and chips at no extra cost, and it was very enjoyable, when it finally arrived. 30 minutes later, with the rest of our meals..That was unacceptable. The pier salad was good as was the vegetable crab soup were both good. The crab cake platter was good, especially the roasted Brussels sprouts and tomato/cucumber salad. Overall, an ok meal, but I wouldn't go out of my way, like we did this time.
Skipper's is my favorite local restaurant and they are quite crowded every night of the week, especially in the summer. Our food was outstanding and the service was great, but the food and drinks took a little longer than normal to arrive. Would like to see them hire more bartenders and servers for the busy summer. Overall, we had an enjoyable evening at Skipper's!
Food was AMAZING.... thank goodness because the service was very poor. The server seemed annoyed the entire time we were there. I'd go back but I would def ask for a different server.
You need to answer the phone for reservations. The waitress for us was good but the kitchen was to to slow. It took 30 mins. to get appertizters. and then 20 more for food. To long to wait!!! Your parking is bad! Need a valet, not enough handcap spaces
Drink orders were way to slow! Can't tell if it was the bar or the waitress was to busy and didn't put them in quick enough. Writing down our drink order would have helped possibly. Food was very good though! And views were amazing!
Great Mothers Day Brunch!
The food was fresh and tasty as usual.
It was a good amount of variety on the buffet.
Having buffet out under the tent was a good idea
Sometimes it got very crowded by the hostess stand with people coming in/out from the buffet and others coming in waiting for their table.
Parking lot too small and crowded
Great location, good food, but service was super slow.
My siblings and I came here for the Easter brunch. Our reservation was for 2pm. For the price of 27.99 pp I was extremely disappointed to say the least. The food looked picked over, it was cold. The shrimp cocktail was the best part, other than that I was not impressed AT ALL. It didn't appear that the Buffett was restocked at all while we were there. We ended up ordering from the menu after 3pm, which we had to wait to do so.
Pretty view, but that was about all.
Had an excellent Easter Brunch. Were somewhat slow getting some items replenished.
Loved the food - but WAY too noisy inside. Looking forward to going back this summer when we can sit outside and have a conversation while we enjoy another delicious meal.
Melissa was our waitress and she was great. The corned beef and cabbage was amazing
It was a cold night. We were initially placed @ a table by a door to the outside deck. We were invited to move to an inner table, which we did. We still felt a blast of cold air every time the door was opened. That was our only complaint.
