Food was mediocre as far as tapas go. The food looks exactly like the pictures and comes out super fast - as if the food were premade. Fairly similar and bland tastes across dishes. Also - imitation crab on one of the dishes. Was not feeling that. Chocolate textures was best part of meal.
So to start it was a bit hard to find. After my wife and I found it we parked in the valet parking which was $10 cool. The outside was a nice scene the inside was the same, very nice and up to date.
Now to the food 🥘.
So we ordered 2 sangrias which tasted old but not horrible i wouldn’t recommend though. The water was Luke warm no Ice so pass. We also wanted to taste at least 4 items. So we started off with the potatoes with a Mayo spicy sauce it was great but I don’t think you can mess that up ijs. Second we ordered the paella 🥘 the rice was old, the scallops where way over cooked like gristle from chicken. The shrimp on the top of it was cheap and undeveined. We had to scrap the rice off the bottom of the plate which we were told that’s where the seasoning and sauce were 🤣 sir it was nothing there but crunchy rice that steamed as if it were cooked yesterday.
Now to my lamb chops I must admit it was amazing and tender lite seasoning medium well with some potato chip fries aaaamazing. I also ordered the prawns those also were to die for. They were in a spicy 🌶 lemon butter sauce I believe it was like 8 prawns 🦐 well worth the money.
Also a plus, complementary of the chef 👨🍳 he did bring us two freebies. Smoked salmon and crab bruschetta. They were delicious. And free 😂
All in all I give them a 5 out of 10 they are new so I do understand that they have room for improvement and I hope they stick around and add more creative dishes to the menu.
Last and least we sat by the window and there were a few flies just flying around the whole time. Not really a big deal because you can’t control flies but I would suggest to be more aware or those spots before you seat the customer.
I’ll try again in a few months.
As a native New Yorker who moved to Dallas I can honestly declare this is the best Spanish/ Tapas spot in DFW. The service is in incredible too. Definitely my new go to place!
Great cozy Spanish restaurant. Eduardo our waiter was beyond wonderful, his service was amazing!
We had a few tapas before our paella and they were great. I have had a few paella’s around DFW area and with all honesty I would rate it a 3 out 5. The flavor could be a little bit stronger. But overall great experience because when the service is this great the little details aren’t so bad.
Thank you Eduardo!!!
The food is not of the quality found in most spanish bars, let alone a restaurant. The tapas were tasteless and dry. The entrees were not properly cooked or seasoned. The drinks, in particular the sangria, was just watered down wine! No fruit or alcohol - for $11.00 a glass - total rip off. You couldn’t even order a coffee or expresso with desert!! There isn’t a bar or restaurant in Spain where you can’t get a coffee!! Way overpriced and lacking of originality and/or quality!! If your looking for an experience akin to dining in Spain - don’t go here!! Nothing like Spain or Spanish food !!
Amazing restaurant 😍 we love the food and the service
Apps were good. Sangria was the winner but overpriced at $65 for the pitcher. Paek was just OK. I had to ask for chef to add Spanish chorizo. I’m not sure how you can make a paella a la Valenciana without chorizó.
The outdoor patio is lovely!
Customer service was amazing The food was okay.
Great service-- drinks were amazing! I would recommend the Bravas!
Wonderful food, thoughtful service, calm and inviting atmosphere
Just an amazing.
True Spanish cuisine.
So honest food!!!
I was excited to try this place. Unfortunately, it falls short. Having lived in Spain for a few months, I am decently versed in Spanish food. The Paella I had here was by far the worst Paella I’ve ever had. It was extremely under-seasoned, and the meat didn’t even have salt. I’m not sure what’s going on in the kitchen, but their paella needs a total revamp. Lastly, service is extremely slow. The bad paella took over 50 minutes. I want to like this place so hopefully they get it together, but I’m not going there anytime soon.
The waiter was nice but not attentive and forgot most everything we would ask for. The food was ok but not super flavorful. The food also took more than 30 minutes to come and it’s Spanish tapas. So we received a couple small dishes then it was 15 min for the next small dish, then another 30 min for the next small dish. It was not a great experience. I wouldn’t return nor recommend it to anyone.
Sketches of Spain has become our new go to spot! The food is absolutely amazing- especially the (Bravas) potatoes and the octopus! The Smokey paprika flavor is so divine! We also enjoyed the paella special (A Banda) it’s on special 2 for 1!!! You can’t beat it! We will be back very soon!
Love Sketches of Spain, chill spot for happy hour, but even more fun when it is lively. Favorite dishes are prawns, tripe stew, octopus, and black paella. The sangria is good also, but it is easy to overdue it and give yourself a hangover.
1/2 of the mussels in our paella were unopened and not edible. They do not treat their guests equally. Service was slow.
Like always at Sketches of Spain, excellent food and wine selection. Great service as well.
They were late in seating us and the server didn’t bring water until 30 minutes later. Then he left us unattended for another 45 minutes. When we finally got to order our drinks and food he told us the kitchen was out of mostly everything. Overall we felt ignored and unattended yet they still charged us with a 20% service charge despite ignoring us.l and would not let us split checks. Would not recommend to anyone.
Too hot indoors
Excellent food. Everything we had was well prepared and delicious. Tomatoes, eggplant, piquillos, ham croquettes, potato/tuna salad and seafood risotto. Desserts - chocolate bomb and fried bread w/ice cream - were also good. Cocktails were well made as well. Excellent, attentive service.
I opted to have my party of 14 eat on the patio due to the increased rates of Covid 19-Delta Variant- it was hotter than a sauna but the amazing food and offerings made me forget how uncomfortable we were - so clearly the food is amazing🤣.
I loved the eggplant and the grilled prawns but my absolute favorite was the octopus and potatoes!!! The flavor and texture has me craving more… like right now! I love Sketches of Spain and will be back! Great service, and amazing food. Only downside was the $60.00 pitcher of sangria 🥴
It was delicious. And I love the decor inside the old house.
Charming place. Food took a little longer than expected but place was busy. It’s a small intimate place but we didn’t feel crowded in. Food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Server was awesome and accommodating.
Only issue was the heat. We were indoors but it was still hot. Table rocked a little.
Overall, I’d recommend this place. Five stars if not for the heat issue👍
Food was great, high tops aren’t comfortable to sit in so just a heads up.
Not working A/C at 100F
Fantastic food. Fantastic wine. Great service and ambiance. We ordered every appetizer and each one was better than the last. Seafood paella was perfection! I can’t wait to go back.
Added bonus: they have bug spray available if you choose to dine outdoors (even though there were no bugs)
Had a great time with friends for dinner and drinks at Sketches of Spain. Loved the decor and the staff was very welcoming. The food was good and the drinks were great as well. I had the sangria and I loved that it wasn't too sweet. We had appetizers, entrees and even dessert.
Service was great and the food was amazing!!!
Staff was pleasant but restaurant temperature inside location was so high my wife and I were sweating during entire meal. Food was okay but not great.Menu is very limited. I wish this restaurant luck but I will likely go elsewhere to get my Spanish food fix in the future.
horrible service and a tapas menu with 4 or 5 choices is a sham. had to leave with half of order not served. Stick with Si Tapas in DFW
We had a wonderful experience. The pork dish and tomatoes and olives tapas were fantastic. David was our waiter and service was exceptional. The cheesecake dessert was also a favorite. Will definitely return.
Fantastic evening, perfect ambiance for a lady’s night with great food and drinks!!! The Spanish G&Ts are delicious!!! And their garlic shrimps the best in Dallas!
Not impressed. Pallela was dry and not flavorful. The other tapas were okay. We’d heard great things and it didn’t match the reviews.
Great restaurant, service is terrific, drinks clever & delish!
Delicious food, excellent service :)
Great food and ambience! I would highly recommend dining at this awesome establishment.
Thank you, Eduardo for your recommendations and your excellent service!
Incredible food. Ordered for tapas plates and the chef kept checking our table to ensure each new plate came out fresh as we finished the first.
