In short, loved the food - the management is so bad, there's zero chance we'll be going back - or to any of their other properties.
Food was fantastic - atmosphere on a Saturday night on the patio was pretty and fun. But they have some serious staffing problems. Staff, in general, was very nice and friendly - but in all areas, clearly overworked.
1. Host - got an opentable text 15 minutes early to confirm "your table is ready" - after replying 1 to confirm and arriving 5 minutes before our reservation, waited in line at a host stand clearly needing 2 people working, but only staffed by 1. By the time we got to the front, we were told "oh sorry, your table isn't ready yet - could you wait outside?"
After waiting another 15 minutes (and the host running in and out, rushing to get on top of seating others probably waiting as well) - we saw them set up a makeshift seating all alone near the exit. And within minutes, were told that was our table. But they clearly had others available - since as soon as we said we didn't like that one for an anniversary dinner - they had two others in nicer locations available immediately.
2. Server - was very nice, but obviously working WAY too many tables. Took almost 2 hours - mostly waiting in between while we watched him rushing from table to table to table - to get through 2 courses, ordered all at the same time. And then another 15-20 minutes for the check.
He was clearly working hard - unfortunate that 2 people overseeing the dining on the patio were just spending time chatting with people they were familiar with rather than helping servers, allowing other customers to wait, and wait...and wait...and wait.
Really unfortunate for a first time visit for a long-time neighbor.
Went here for my boyfriends birthday- everything was perfect- it would have been more helpful to have more service when it came to the explanation of dishes and more time for answering questions about the food from the server. The server seemed pretty busy. Overall though great experience.
Ambiance, service and food were all on point. Kudos to the entire staff for making our party of 9's evening great!
Generally average food with some standout dishes (meatball appetizer, papardelle) with portions on the smaller side and not a good value. Service was good and overall the restaurant tries to step it up but you will have a better experience for your dollar at Bestia or Rossoblu which are in the same neighborhood.
We love this place and have been dozens of times. Tonight, the wait service was terrible. The waiter was too busy. We wanted to order three courses. The kitchen jammed courses 2 and 3 together, which overwhelmed our small table with plates and made the experience lousy. I also had a hair in one of my dishes - yuk. We may try again, but this was not cool.
During this difficult time post-pandemic, I realize it is challenging to find experiences restaurant staff. However, the service was poor during our visit and this was our first time at BRERA. Our appetizers were still on the table when our entrees arrived. My curly pasta with duck rahul was just ok (Factory Kitchen pasta is much better) and my husband’s bone-in ribeye was also just ok. The dish thy stood out was the grilled octopus appetizer. Our main entree plates were at our table for 20 minutes after we were finished and our server brought the dessert menu to us with the finished plates still in front of us. Needless to say, we didn’t stay for dessert.
The pizza, gelato and chocolate tart were the highlights.
Great food and atmosphere. Can’t wait to come back
we had the white truffle tagliatelle made by Chef Angelo Auriana. I've had the white truffle pasta at Angelini Osteria, Providence, etc. I can attest that this is the best my wife and I've had. He uses two different truffles to capture the subtle flavors of the truffle. We had a pizza and Caesar salad afterwards. A GREAT MEAL. We were content. The service was very attentive.
Interesting and unusual menu. We created and shared a 3-course meal; enjoyed every last bite!
Outdoor patio is great setting for lunch of their yummy Italian food. Free self-parking at lunch in their parking lot. Take home a pizza to go at end of lunch for an easy dinner later. One of our favorite dining spots in LA.
The service was above and beyond and I think the best part about the place. The ambience is great. I got the Brussels sprouts and capansei (sp?). The food was pretty good, but it seemed like it was missing different texture to the dish. The sommelier came out and helped with a great wine choice. I would definitely go back.
The cocktails are amazing, the food is delicious, and the service is always top notch. Also, there's a huge parking lot and you never find that in DTLA. This is one of my favorite restaurants and it's my go-to if friends are coming downtown to meet me for dinner.
Amazing restaurant, ambiance & food. Only problem was our server apparently overcharged an extra $10 on an already generous tip. Now my bf has to dispute charge.
Wonderful cocktails & delicious food with amazing ambiance
I lived my experience atbBrera. From the valet to the incredibly attentive wait staff, to my exceptionally strong and tasty cocktail and of course the delicious Caesar salad and both dinners exceeded expectations. I will be back and probably on a weekly basis.
We had a great time and a great meal.
Great food and great service. I love the look and feeling inside.
Delicious food, excellent service and great atmosphere!
Hire more attentive servers
Came in for dine La. Food looks complicated but it tasted simple and delicious!
Even though it was a busy night. We were catered to very well! Food was great and we had a great time!
Great decor, great ambiance, great food but please don't rush me!
We enjoyed our meal but we had to ask our waiter 3 times to come back later (after we ordered our appetizers) because he kept trying to hurry us to order our entrees. At one point he returned twice in 3 minutes! We had to resort to waving away the staff to stop them taking our plates so we could enjoy our meal and not feel hurried. I totally understand the COVID restrictions and the need to turn tables within a 2 hour time limit but at the pace our waiter was trying to go we would have finished our Friday evening dinner within an hour. The hurried pace definitely affected our enjoyment of what was otherwise a great meal in a cool location.
We enjoyed the tagliatelle and each of us chose the soft-shell appetizer as our entree with the Cesar salad. the soft shell crab with the cauliflower was stellar.
Do not sleep on this restaurant! It was fantastic. Great drinks and wonderful handmade pastas.
Went for DineLA. Will definitely come back. Everything was delicious and the staff were excellent.
This is a nice place! I was
Food was extremely disappointing, soggy salty puzza, watery bland pasta.
The gnocchi is outstanding
Love our experience in Brera.
Great food and service. Good for any occasion and patio seating on a warm evening a plus.
Great service, nice location.
Not the best.
The food was (as always) fantastic, service impeccable, and ambiance so lovely.
Amazing food, good service. I came during a quiet time, I loved everything and will come again
Food was amazing - surprised the pizza was so good too! Overall, great meal, high quality food, great service. Indoors was great atmosphere - outside looked super fun after dark, when we arrived it was still light out and the outdoor parking lot atmosphere didn't look very high end but when we were leaving, the outside looked pretty in the dark with some string lights and I would definitely eat outside.
Bread made to order, fresh made pasta and amazing cocktails. We will definitely be back.
It was great overall. Some of the staff can be friendlier, but we definitely had a blast. Drinks and food were all very good, desserts too. We would know, each one got his own lol. We celebrated my birthday and I would go again.
I'm so happy these guys made it through the covid storm. They are so friendly and yummy. It also happens to be my kids favorite restaurant. I could eat their pizza every day.
