We had a nice visit to Brera, we were seated quickly and service was attentive. We were outside and the heaters were on too hot we asked and they moved the one that was closest to us away and then actually turned it off for us which was considerate.
We had hot bread, small round loaf, and butter with anchovy - that is one single anchovy and a thin slice of butter. Stuffed/fired squash blossoms were ok, not great, four per order. And a pizza for the three of us to share as appetizers. Pizza del campo was tasty and the crust was very good, crisp yet chewy with burnt bubbles (yum) and fresh vegs on top.
Mains were two pastas, cacio e pepe - very tasty and rich and amatriciana which was basic. They were accommodating to make with it without guanciale as the person ordering was vegetarian. Last main was the pork shank which was tender and delicious. We had one dessert, the triple chocolate tart - very yummy. One espresso, one martini, three glasses of wine, three people - was just under $300 with tip. It was nice evening but only three stars because the food was good but not great for the price. The prices are out of line with the level of restaurant. You can get similar food at many Italian places in LA for less than 1/2 the price. And its not so special that its worth it for an occasion, no view, nothing out of the ordinary. So all in all, nice dinner but pricey for what they offer.
great food and great service. love the design.
Lots of flies and gnats. The food was cold. One dish just wasn’t good.
One of my favorite restaurants with excellent pasta and appetizers. The gnocchi is to die for... soft, pillowy, delicious! The octopus was perfectly grilled and seasoned.
I docked today for ambiance because our table had an odd problem but they reseated us without hesitation !
As per request, we were seated at a table away from other diners on the patio. Happy that you made an effort to accommodate our request. Food was quite good and reasonably priced. The white asparagus was tasty....wished I could have ordered a larger portion. The octopus was good but a bit chewy. Very pleasant ambience on patio without the music blasting at our ears. Thank you for a lovely evening.
Has steadily improved since we first went here a few yrs ago. Service excellent, outdoor seating good (thought the table for two was a bit small), food exceptionally good (carpaccio outstanding, caprese equally so, brussel sprouts and Tuscan kale bitter and very good knowing that in advance. We split the braised beef cheeks truly outstanding and as fatty as would be expected, falling apart in the Nebbiolo wine sauce. Semolina toasty and crisp, though had to ask for more butter. In a restaurant of this caliber, we defer to the sommelier on which wine, only giving a price point (less than $100) and red vs white. And were rewarded with a 2010 Il Chiosso Ghemme Nebbiolo for $78 which was truly wonderful with the meal. Dinner, with wine, tax and tip, over $225
Lovely space. Took a bit longer to be seated by host and greeted by server than expected. While server was pleasant, he was a bit difficult to understand, and a bit inattentive at times with wine and water service. Another server came by at one point, and asked if we wanted more wine, to which I replied yes, and asked to see the wine menu again. She never returned to take the order. We informed our primary server that a dish we ordered (heirloom tomato salad) was not good and we sent it back, yet it appeared on our bill. While paying our check I handed a man the cc and asked if he was the manager. He said he was the owner, to which I told him that the tomato dish should be removed from our check as it was not fresh or tasty. He “corrected” me and said, “While you may not have liked it, it was fresh.” How about simply, “Of course” without a defensive response? Oh, and adding $6 to the bill for COVID related issues seems petty (do i add a fee to my services which were also impacted by COVID?) and discourages patrons who go out for dinner every single week from returning to this restaurant and others in the group. I have spoken my mind.
One of the best restaurants my family and I go to every week. Edwin especially at Brera is amazing.
Food was good, maybe due to the pandemic it felt like front of room was missing personal. Service was slow and needed to look for staff to get refills and clear dishes. Food in general was good, pizza was the standout. Steak was overbooked and sent back. We decided to order something else. The streak was to thin to cook properly was our opinion so decided to pass on refire.
1st time trying. Food and service were terrific.
If you’re into the chic industrial aesthetic, you’ll love this place inside and out. The service was warm and lovely and the food was exceptional. I got the wild boar pappardelle. You need to get it, just trust me.
I’ll be coming back here with more friends and family, 100%
First time here, recommended by friends. What a great find. A hidden gem in the Arts District of downtown LA. Great menu. Lovely ambience and terrific service. Highly recommend the Wagyu tartare! Had an amazing Barolo. Looking forward to going back very soon.
Always warm and welcoming, love this restaurant for the delicious fresh food, the drinks - Staschisc is my favorite, the atmosphere it's located in a super cool warehouse downtown LA and the friendly staff. They have gone above and beyond to make everyone feel comfortable and safe whether dining indoors or out. I always recommend BRERA
Celebrating birthday with friends. We were not rushed out so that was wonderful.
Great ambiance and tasty food! Our reservation was for 8:45 and we were not seated until 9:20 but it was a great meal and a fun ambiance!
The ambiance was very relaxing and its a great place for a date or intimate dinner with friends. There is $7-$10 valet parking in a large lot. The service was a bit slow, but I think they were understaffed and quite booked up that night, and our server tried his best so it was alright. The wine selection is fabulous—I had a glass of the white pigato and it was probably the best wine I’ve had in a while. The star of the show was the spinach potato gnocchi. Imagine a cloud that melts in your mouth, packed with an intense flavor that lingers long after you have swallowed it. That is the experience. I felt like I was transported into someone’s Italian grandmother’s kitchen. I truly don’t think I will ever eat gnocchi of that caliber anywhere else (in America at least). I will come back here solely for the gnocchi, and honestly I think if you come here and get something else you are making a grave mistake. I’m sure the other pasta dishes are great, but this one is a must-try.
Overall, it was a sweet and classic Italian dining experience inside a beautiful, dimly lit repurposed warehouse with high ceilings and modern rustic features. The outdoor patio had plenty of heaters and pretty fairy lights, although if you can secure indoor seating I would highly recommend it. Reservation is a must.
The owner was very rude and disrespectful. We had reservations and he sat us by the bathroom in a corner and when we asked him to move us he was very rude and not accommodating. Food was very salty, steak wasn’t cooked right,... will never go back because of his attitude
Food was delicious. The pork shank is spectacular and the drinks are really good. There isn't any music outside in back... not sure why.
We loved the space and the care taken to achieve it. The wait staff was excellent and the food was good-to-great.
But it was very expensive!!
The food and drinks were amazing! The service and the ambience were great. But the portions are incredibly small and it’s hard to justify spending so much money on a meal only to leave still hungry.
First time back since before the March 2020 national shutdown, and how we missed the food, the welcoming staff and the lovely, intimate seating outside (yes, we loved sitting alfresco even before "times."). Seasonal delights of black and white truffles and zucchini blossoms were gorgeous. Cocktails as delicious as ever. Looking forward to returning.
Wonderful staff and food. Highly recommend.
It was a wonderful dining experience as always. Comfortably spaced tables and delicious and well presented meals and drinks!
I booked this restaurant for my 15 year wedding anniversary. The reviews online were very good, and I have never been there before When I arrived, my husband notified me that he was running a little late, so I asked if I could be seated to have a cocktail. The gentleman who greeted me at The entrance was shocked that I asked such a question. His eyes got really big, and he replied, “Madame, we have strict r regulations here.” He proceeded to tell me that it was against the LA County health rules to seat an incomplete party. I ended up by sitting outside alone for 15 minutes (on a cold bench). When we were finally seated, our table was inside, even though I had requested an outside table when I made the reservation online. The food was pretty good, and our food server was very friendly. Not sure the quality of the food made up for the bad first impression and very unfriendly greeting I got, though. Lastly, beware - they add a $3 Covid service charge per person to the bill.
The service was a little uneven. I would go back...the food is qute good but we were disappointed in the chocolate dessert.
I always enjoy coming to Brera and Sixth & Mill next door. The food is delicious - I've never had a bad meal here. The entire staff is always so helpful and accommodating.
When in the arts district you need to stop by here and even when not on the arts district you need to stop by here.
Relaxed atmosphere, and the food takes you back( in my case 45 years to my then best friend s from Italy’s shores mother’s place, I haven’t smelled tomato sauce like that since then), wow what a treat .
We will return soon as well as hit your sister restaurant
Have been dining here since the opened. Still excellent food! Space is also amazing. Not quite as lively with 50% Covid capacity but still had a really good meal. To get the full impact, request a table in the main dining room. And be sure to order some steak. Don’t order steak out much cause we’re really good at it, they’re better!
Terrific dining experience. Even had a vegan choice!
Great food and service.
Tom Costello took care of us and made my partner's birthday a memorable one. I never write reviews but was compelled by the outstanding service and the amazing food. Mucho kudos!
Service was slow... we got our starter bread *after* our entrees. Dessert menu took ten minutes to arrive, by which time we were ready to leave. Food was okay... definitely overpriced. We had cacio e pepe, which was average. Margherita pizza was also average. Will not be coming back.
It was My husband’s birthday and he was so satisfied with the food.
Came here to celebrate a birthday, and wanted to try somewhere new. SO good! The outdoor patio was cute, well spaced out, and they had enough heaters to keep it warm once the sun went down. The service was outstanding, with everyone (servers, bussers, managers) working seamlessly. Food and drinks were excellent! Everyone wanted to go back again to try different items, so I will absolutely be returning. We had the Spring Sprung cocktail, Margherita Pizza, Tagliatelle, Ricotta Capunsei (I know I want to try something new, but I'll be ordering this for the table again. Too good not to!), and the Risotto Milanese.
Brera is always fantastic.
As an Italian living in L.A, I love to feel at home there.
Great wine selection, service is impeccable. the ambience stylish but not loud and Angelo, the chef, is wonderful.
Solid service and food. I will probably go again in the future.
