Polite and friendly service. Great food and wine. Only disappointment was limited choice for starter and main course

We eat regularly at 6PF- at least 1-2 occasions per month. The food is always of a good standard using local produce and the service is friendly, non-patronising and timely. Pete always has a brilliant suggestion for wine to accompany a meal - we're really glad he stayed with 6PF. We have recently discovered a wicked dessert substitute - Luke makes a truly lovely Espresso Martini- one or two of those always sends us home happy! Look forward to seeing what menu changes might take place next month!

We went on Saturday evening quite early, so the venue was quiet, but soon filled up. We had a table downstairs, and it was nice and warm on a cold winter evening, because of the fire. We liked the simple decor and touches of unusual artifacts and items as decorations. The plate of mussels for starters was HUGE and we both shared it... with an excellent sauce with thyme for a nice change, accompanied by some very tasty crunchy bread. My Iron Steak was absolutely delicious and medium rare to perfection. Congratulations! My husband had the veggie roasted barley, and which, whilst unusual, and looked white and ghostly looking on the plate (suggest putting in something for colour??), was delicious and filling. A very enjoyable meal and we will certainly visit again.

Our visit here was for an evening meal on Christmas Eve, very nice decor and a friendly welcome... The bar area is a little small so gets crowded and cluttered easily and was difficult to squeeze through. The menu was small but had some great options and variety within it. The sharing platter was disappointing, the content doesn't match the price at all. The main courses arrived and were amazing, well presented and delicious! I'd definately return for another meal and highly recommend a visit although I'd have to say stick to just one course!!! (We didn't see puddings? Maybe they'd be ok?)

I have eaten at Six Poor Folk several times now and I have never been disappointed. The staff are always welcoming and helpful. The food is absolutely delicious every time and I love the fact they change the menu selection often. We visited the restaurant on Christmas Eve and they had Carol singers in which made it perfect to put us in the festive mood. I would highly recommend Six Poor Folk.

Really lovely restaurant. Good, inventive dishes and pretty decent breads. We shared a platter of squid, salmon and Brie for a starter. The salmon was great. The squid needs a bit more punch in the flavor and the oil needs to be hotter for frying. We both had the pig cheek with kale and pumpkin for mains. The cheeks were tender but needed a deeper flavor - chilli, star anise and sweet soy would impart the flavor needed. The kale didn't add anything. Good ideas that will get better.

We attended on the basis of the Festive Menu but were only offered a standard menu, when this was queried we were told that the Festive Menu had to be pre-booked, pre ordered. On reviewing the website it stated pre-ordering was only required for parties of 8 or more and we were a pre-booked party of 5 At the time of placing our order there was only one more table of 2 but errors were made on our order (these errors were not raised at the time) The vegetable curry was dry and mushy like it had been reheated several times and there was no yoghurt topping The chocolate cake dessert was dry and burnt

The food was good and there was a good buzz in the restaurant. Our waitress Raquel was exceptional and thanks to Matt for finding us a table on a busy night! Only thing we found strange was the Hanger steak was a steak. Not a hint of green...a tmato ....a chip....nothing! Fortunately our waitress pointed this out, but I would have been really disappointed to have just received that as my main meal. I guess it's a way of increasing the cost by paying for side orders, but when you order a main course that's what it should be, sides are extras not a necessity! Otherwise yes a good night and we will go again, I might order 34 peas next time! 😃
