It was simply, the best gnocchi I've ever had. You will not regret this choice.
Second year we've come here for our team's holiday lunch. Everything, as always, was fantastic. Love sitting at the long table extending from the kitchen. A great place to gather with friends and enjoy a meal.
I think one of the dishes was oversalted, which was a shame. One of the duck entrees had a cut of duck that was mostly tendon or cartilage, which my friend did not appreciate for a $28 entree. The service was adequate and less than attentive, although I understand that is a fine balance to strike. The server returned two minutes after everyone received their entrees, so we hadn’t discovered the cartilage/tendon issue yet. Then the server returned 20 minutes to clear our plates and ask if we wanted dessert.
For the quantity and quality, there are better restaurants in Seattle that offer similar menus at a lower price with better service.
I booked this reservation for my son and his fiancé on her birthday. We had all eaten here before and loved it. The tasting menu is delicious and the ambience here is lovely.
What a delight find! We had the theee corse lunch and it was fantastic. Chef really knows how to deliver a taste filled meal. Bring your friends bring your family.
Very little variety
Basically two choices for dinner
We've been a few times, but the last couple we've been underwhelmed with the food. We found a couple of the dishes bland and under-salted, or just ill-conceived. The cocktails were lovely, and we love the space, but for the price we're likely to just go elsewhere.
I travel to Seattle often and have eaten at many, many fine restaurants in town. This may have been my favorite....
Sadly, the meal we paid for was not worth the hype. The wine was delicious but the food felt underwhelming and even clumsy at times. Cold flavorless fat (pork terrine), poor plating, and tough gristle-laden porchetta were the standouts for us.
Beyond that, our 9p reservation must've pushed the staff to the end of their night, possibly far later than they wanted to be there. Understandably, I would not be energized at the end of my night either but please don't offer reservations past 8p or let us know the tasting menu is not available. Rushed courses, tired responses, and minimal conversation does not justify a $100+ per guest price tag.
It was fine
My favorite place in Seattle. The perfect place for a quite business dinner or romantic date. I wish every city I go to had a Sitka & Spruce.
Food awesome, music great, hip and cool. The server was good but not very personable. Wasn’t very engaging or welcoming. But overall a great experience.
Another great lunch at Sitka! They have a wonderful wine list, small but amazing menu, and cozy atmosphere.
There was nothing inventive about this food. It was meh, overall. Coupled with service by a server who was super unfriendly, and a kitchen that was in the weeds the entire night made for an unpleasant experience. Will not be going back when there are so many other good restaurants nearby.
My husband and I were traveling for our anniversary and someone recommended Sitka and Spruce to us. What a delight.. the food was delicious and the service was great. There wasn’t a huge choice on the menu so we decided to opt for the tasting menu and so glad we did. It allowed us to try things we would normally not. I would highly recommend if you are in the area. It is small so get reservations.
Amazing service every time we go. The wine was overpriced in our opinion and the lamb was salty and rich. I would still definitely recommend and we will be back, but not leaving blown away like other restaurants in similar genres.
Loved the fresh fish and the intimacy of sitting at the wood block table right next to the cooking station, so we could see our food being prepared right with us. Very nice! Loved it!
The tasty bread and whipped butter is a great way to start the meal at Sitka and spruce. Extensive wine selection, and the numerous cocktail choices leaves you very indecisive.
Loved the ambience, food and service!
Great food and service. Rilettes were amazing as was the halibut and duck confit.
The eclectic wine list always has hidden gems.
Food is always fantastic, have never been disappointed here. It is fresh and flavorful. Service is spectacular, I never feel rushed but I also feel well-attended to. Cocktails are always really good here!
We have been there a bunch of times. It is always good, but sometimes not great. The menu is pretty limited and its sometimes hard to find something you really want to eat. The food is interesting and always well prepared,
One of my favorite places to go. On the positive side always good food. The entrees seemed on the sparse side this time. Only two, fish or duck. My fish was perfect. I was also surprised that the bread was a baguette vice the normal country loaf.
Brought a visiting foodie friend. Melrose Market is lovely and Sitka & Spruce is a great venue. Opted for prix fix menu. Food was unremarkable at best. Flavor balance, portion sizes, etc. were all off. Wine pairings were good though, as was the service.
Above and beyond expected! Front row seat to meal prep, ambient flame cook stove visible from dining area. Amazing host! Brought family with a variety of food preferences and everybody found something they loved!
Fantastic experience. Loved the vibe and the entire pescatarian adjusted tasting menu! Great date night.
We came here for our 3 year anniversary. We had the tasting menu and everything was excellent! Ambiance, food, and wine all incredible. The only thing was I wish the server would have given a more in-depth description of the courses as she placed them down. I get that sometimes it’s overboard when a server does that. But since we ordered from the tasting menu, each course was a surprise and it would have been fun to know more about what we were eating.
Sterile room, interesting concept, attracts the kinda wanna be cool crowd, but the food just falls way short. Food as soulless and dry as the environment. They are sincere and the service is great, but hire a chef that can turn this culinary disaster around.
Used to be my overall favorite restaurant but it seems as if the food as declined from its former glory. Would love it if it made a comeback as I love this place
Great and affordable food in a nice setting. A small daily menu for all tastes.
We were very happy with our meal. I love to come here. Sitka and Spruce has a wonderful take on small-dish/pacific-northwest-style/local/seasonal food. I also love the ambiance and the service.
Our only complaint was that someone outside the restaurant window (in the alley?) clearly smoked a joint. The smell of marijuana wafted in through the window and my wife, a doctor who is troubled by legalization, was extremely annoyed that the smell was so strong. S&S: Maybe consider closing that window or ensuring that the staff go a little further before they light up.
Sitka and Spruce is always delicious! It's fun to go there with a group of six, so you can order everything on the menu and share!
Outstanding food, simple, clean, fresh and absolutely delicious.
I had high expectations for this restaurant. The food was cooked well, but the ingredients/flavor combinations were ill-conceived and ultimately unsuccessful. Dishes were either bland or way over-spiced. The bread and butter was awesome and so was the sparkling rose.
We chose to do the tasting menu. The food was incredible and the chef was wonderful in providing alternatives that avoided my tomato allergy. Can’t wait to go back!
Food was amazing and the service was spectacular. We got the tasting menu for my boyfriend’s birthday :)
Sitka & Spruce was recommended to us by a friend who said it was one of his favs. He was so spot on! We celebrated our anniversary while visiting Seattle and wish this place would fit into one of our carry on bags so we could take it home. The food was amazing! Our server was personable and fun. On the top of our list for our next trip to the Northwest!
Delicious plates of local cheeses from Vashon Island, house cured pickles, and house made charcuterie! A great spot for lunch in Capitol Hill.
I thought the food was excellent, fresh and delicious. I eat out a lot and fine dine also. I thought the value here, however, was just not there. They advised that each dish was to share, and the menu divided into small plates and large plates. The large plates were not the typical large plate size, however. We filled up on white bread and butter, which you had to pay $6.50 for. The large dishes we thought would be more filling were extremely small... really the size of a small plate somewhere else, yet the prices were around $30-$35 for the large dishes and close to $20 for apps. The smalls were about one bite of food per person with the exception of the cucumber salad where we could have a few bites. The larges were about two very small bites per person. We started by ordering seven dishes for a group of four. We were all still hungry after devouring them, and given the price, portion size, and how hungry we still were we decided to cut our losses, pay the pricey bill and went for an artisan pizza. I have NEVER gone to dinner before after a dinner... I realize for a group of four we could’ve got more plates but the prices and portion sizes just didn’t make it worth it. You’d need to order three to four dishes per person I think, which would be at least $100pp without drinks and this place is not the type you’d walk into thinking you’re going to spend that much. All that said, and that was a lot, the food was very very good.
So the first time I came here it was amazing, unique, delicious and to die for and every food combination was intricate and complimented each other perfectly. So, I decided to take my boyfriend here and hyped him up, we decided to go big and get the family style option on the menu BECAUSE the waiter encouraged it and said she can switch things out if we don't like them ($60) a person and I was very disappointed. First of all the salad was just cucumbers and some lettuce and a dressing that I could have easily made and was quite lacking in flavor and pretty much everything... the gazpacho "course" was just one tiny shot glass filled with gazpacho. The salmon course was great, but again not much...just salmon, zucchini and some green tomato sauce. What really disappointed me was that our waiter said that she can kind of twist it based off what we like, but she didn't ever ask before the next course whether what she was bringing was alright. So the next course came and it was a super fatty piece of pork with mushrooms (I DISPISE mushrooms, and I do not like very fatty pork so I really didn't have much of this course and gave it to my bf. Our palette cleanser" was one small strip of cantaloupe and we each only got 3 pieces less than the size of a thumb (common guys!). For desert it was something pretty simple too, just heated up berries, and a peach sorbet with a (tiny!) bit of merengue crumbled... For $60 a person I expected something much better, more creative, and NOT something I could have just made my self at home. None of the sauces were delicious or special in any way. I was just overall disappointed because we ended up spending around $140 on disappointing family style meal that the waiter talked us into when we would have just ordered off the regular menu.
