This was a new experience for me, and it taught me a valuable lesson: Call the restaurant personally, instead of relying on online booking! The restaurant was closed for business!!! We left the airport, sped to the restaurant for dinner, and no one was there but us!!!
After looking at rating we wanted to visit Indian food we decided Sitar, we were seated right away we ordered some vine and food, our food was served even before our vine within 5 minute of our placing our order. It was stale tasteless probably leftover from day buffet when we asked the owner/ manager/ chef who was defensive arrogant told us you eat it, this is a Nepalese place selling Indian food. I could not give negative rating which it deserve
Having read the reviews and seen the issues with the lunch buffet, I chose instead to hit up their dinner hour to satisfy my "curry" craving. After taking a sip from my Kingfisher and nibbling on a poppadom, I opted to order the "House Specialty" which is a few different dishes under one. The curry was good. Not great, but good.
First was that the paying my bill took a long while. The lady running the register was also responsible for taking phone orders and she had to run back to the kitchen twice to get stuff straight.
Second was the very loud discussion going on in the kitchen. In Hindi. (Well, it might not have been Hindi. They speak a dozen languages in India, none of which I understand at all.)
First experience with this restaurant. Waiter was friendly and guided us on the menu. I like spicey food but wife and son are not as aggressive. Waiter suggested we keep it mild for first time and try hotter on next visit. Food was excellent and I will go hotter next time. Prices were surprising low. We were stuffed and took home a full meal for less than we spend in most other places we normally go. I noticed a lot of patrons taking food home as well. The atmosphere is not the greatest but the food was! Waiter was attentive but not overbearing.
The restaurant looks drab and plain but the food is very good.
Large quantity of delicious Indian cuisine. The "hot" option is really hot so eater beware. It has wonder file flavor but it astronomically spicy. The regular is how most patrons should enjoy it but they do offer a mild alternative which is nice for the faint of heat.
Food was delivered to our table just as ordered. Each dish was spiced as requested. The food was some of the best Indian style food we had at any restaurant in a very long time. I wish we lived here to be able to order take-out regularly.
Now the service... The service was sub par. The wait staff was too interested in their conversations to care about their guests. Empty glasses, plates from previous course left on table, and even getting the check and paying was a chore.
This was my first visit so I will go back to give them another chance. If you like Indian, go for the food and if you get good service, BONUS!
Second time eating at Sitar. Brought a group with me this time. Everyone enjoyed it. Great change from typical dining. I want to come back and try the buffet some time.
This evening I had the Non-Vegetarian plate. It’s a combo with Curry Lamb (or Chicken) Rice, Naan bread, Curried vegetables and some other small dishes. It was very good, I really enjoyed it!
Had the Mixed Grill, great meal more than I could possible eat and very tasty. I would have it again and recommend it to anyone who’s going there to eat!
