Sister - Oakland
Very good service, had reservation for 7:15 for high stools, showed up at 6:45 and were seated at a regular table, which we preferred. Had a little gem salad, very tasty but a bit expensive. had a great pizza and several glasses of unfamiliar but excellent wine. Tipped well as the wait person was attentive and not intrusive. Overall, good food, good service, pricy and very noisy. We will surely go back again.
Great food, nice vibe, good service. Definitely coming back!
Only 1 visit, food was decent, cocktails good; it's just expensive. Cant afford to spend $200 with tax and tip every time you want to go out to eat.
Fantastic food. Small, intimate restaurant. Loved it!
Great waitstaff. Very attentive. And either everything we chose was great or they really listened to our tastes in foods and wines. I’m going with the latter.
Very enjoyable. Hubs had the pizza, it’s highly recommended, unfortunately I’m GF and DF so went with a lovely salad and some crudo, both delicious. Service was efficient but not quite friendly which dinged them for stars IMHO.
The best part of the service was when a busser attended to our table and brought us a lint roller. He was great:)
The cold plates arrived timely but the hot plates took over 45 minutes and we had to chase down our server! When our hot dishes arrived, they were lukewarm and we had to return them only to wait AGAIN. This gave us the impression that the food had been sitting in the kitchen for quite sometime and the waitress forgot about us! We wished the waitress would've checked with us but she vanished pretty much the entire time we were there.
The cold plates were great. The pasta with anchovies seemed like they must have ran out of anchovies because it was really hard to them amongst the pasta (which was cooked perfectly).
Overall, we won't return until we read reviews that indicate they've fixed the service.
We loved our server, and got to eat alfresco in the courtyard in the back which was lovely! Food was great and different. Starters- we ordered the pizza with fennel sausage- was good but not that exceptional. The lamb ribs were however- served with very elevated mint pesto- highly recommend. We also tried the burrata which is not the traditional presentation and seems like less cheese than usual, but, its served with amazingly fresh snap peas and mint leaves. Great summer dish. Craft cocktails were excellent. I had the Dandelion Angoilotti pasta which is one of my favorite dishes in a while. Excellent flavor, perfectly cooked pasta. The dandelion pesto was brothy and incredible, and the dandelion leaves were not too bitter. Very well balanced dish. Crave-worthy!! Will return soon.
The reservation was on time and the hostess was very pleasant. The server was ok. polite and cool. We had the halibut ceviche and it was just ok. The duck was presented very nicely but was very salty. the lamb ribs were good, but again very salty. The server was very helpful with the wine selection since they were unfamiliar wines .
I love the place! Food and service are always wonderful. My only issue is the acoustics..it is so loud.
Excellent service! Delicious dinner and cocktails!
We were seated on the patio and it was very quiet and cozy back there. The service was great and the food and drinks were on point. I’d def come back
We love Boot & Shoe. The food is creative and delicious and the service is always friendly and professional. It is our favorite neighborhood hang out.
We love Boot and Shoe for brunch and we were glad to see it back. They are still working the kinks out, because the kitchen timing was less than perfect, but the food quality was fab.
Music was too loud but we were seated fairly close to a set of speakers.
Mother’s Day dinner
I’ll begin by saying I usually love Boot & Shoe and always have a great meal/drinks there. Because of this I booked it for Mothers Day. Unfortunately they had just started serving brunch that weekend (not sure why they didn’t do a dry run the weekend before). It took an hour for 5 out of 6 meals to come out. Mine was brought out after everyone had almost finished eating. They did take my meal of the bill and the waitress was very apologetic. But the damage was done. My mother’s day brunch certainly didn’t live up to my expectations. It would have been nicer to offer us brunch another day. We will still go to Boot and Shoe, a wonderful neighborhood place.
I was expecting a typical, Bay Area quasi high end yada yada yada, same old taste, but instead I LOVED the bold decisions on flavors and very unique dishes. I was really genuinely surprised and in a good way. I can’t believe more people are not raving about this place. I’ll tell everyone I know. Great cocktails too, solidly done but with a unique twist.
Very noisy. My Aunt wears hearing aids and had difficulty hearing me. Other than that, B&S is my absolute local favorite!
Boot and Shoe is great food, pleasant surroundings and good service. We’re glad to be able to back again now that management has changed.
Been a long time since I visited Boot and Shoe. It was amazing! Did a grazing/sharing menu so we could try various items. The Korean ribs were fantastic. Pizza well executed. And the steak melted in your mouth. Great selection of beer. Waitress was fun , helpful and efficient. We will be back! Change of hands maybe only made it better. Good Job!
Great food with interesting flavor combinations. The space is interesting. The music was a bit too loud for conversation.
Not as good as my last visit.... they did not have our reserved table ready for half an hour. The pizzas were not as good as last time and some were actually really burned. $200 total for 3 pizzas and a salad and some desserts for the 4 of us seemed excessive given the quality. So dark we could barely read the menu and so loud we could barely carry on a conversation
Good spot to take a date and the service was very welcoming and so accommodating. I would definitely go back for the lamb bites.
never have had a boring pizza or salad in 10 years!
Salad was good and scallops were exceptional (but there were only three!). Pizza was good but not extraordinary and took way too long. Service began attentive, slacked off and then almost disappeared...
Ask about the vegan pizza! Always delicious. Everyone enjoyed their meals (pizzas, pastas, salads). Drinks were great too.
Nettle pizza. What's not to love. Wine Wednesday. Half price by the bottle. Only challenge was that they did not have a table available at the time reserved so we sat at the bar.. which we enjoyed.
Innovative Dishes, such as the Pastrami Nuggets, the Salads where solid, and the wood fired Pizzas had interesting choices.
This is one of my favorite, go-to restaurants in Oakland. I always experience friendly, welcoming service and great food. The seasonally driven menu is great, not too precious yet innovative. Don’t even get me started on the cocktails!!! Delish. We ordered for four, 2 pizzas and two appetizers along with bread and olives. Perfect meal. I will definitely be back.
Really wonderful staff - so accommodating to our party's questions and concerns and the food was outstanding! can't wait to go back to try more of the menu!
We go here all the time - the pizza is amazing. I also got the chicory salad this time and loved it.
We will definitely be back! The drinks were fantastic, the food was yummy, and the service was stellar.
The hospitality was really spot on, so nice, attentive and lovely. The food is really good, the chicories salad was so inventive and tasty. Such a good operation here.
We've been meaning to come here for yrs and yrs and finally had a chance. Maybe that's a good thing with all the changes it's gone through. All that has been said in the past, is still very true of Boot and Shoe. It's a wonderful space, amazingly flavorful and colorful foods, ambiance and mood is romantic and cozy and the STAFF and SERVERS were friendly, welcoming and gave excellent service-nothing pretentious. We brought our 15 yr and 12 yr old boys who throughly enjoyed the experience. It is our new favorite spot, though it's been around for years. We're happy that we found it.
Everything was delicious, but the pizza is always a standout! Slightly charred crust, but still pillowy! Yum!
Amazing dim environment. Great service, amazing cocktails and beer menu. We loved the crafted salad and wood fired oven pizza.
They're getting their legs back! Food offerings are a little more diverse. Great pasta, love the dough on their Pizza! Service is definitely improving. Happy to make this place part of our regular neighborhood spots again.
We are regulars but the food on our last trip was just so so salty it masqued the simple fresh local seasonal ingredients. What a shame. The sweet delicate crab on the toast was just lost as where the sea scallops & cabbage dish.
