It was so dark inside that it was difficult to see the food we were eating.
Cocktails disappointing, food excellent. Loved bread with salted butter. Pasta and pizza exceptionally delicious. Friendly, informative servers, appreciated hostess's attention to our seating request.
Server was excellent, knowledgable, attentive but not intrusive. Apps and pizza were terrific--love the new sourdough crust. The heirloom tomato app was a particular treat. Desserts were not as spectacular--a bit bland, particularly the blackberry cake. But overall, very pleased with our meal.
Approachable, enjoyable and interesting...good for a casual date night or just for meeting a friend.
My friends and I just had THE BEST meal at Sister. It was so good that we wanted to eat it all over again...like order all the same things. Exceptional service, incredible food (and cocktails and wine). I love the new name too and that a new restaurant can bloom inside this great space. I'll definitely be coming back to Sister. 💗
Nice restaurant, good quality, friendly staff and customers, but pricey?
Pizza was fine but both appetizer and salad were below par. Really wanted to like it more but not there yet
Lovely experience on the patio. Great server. Would love to see a gluten free bread added. Would definitely recommend and will come back!
Met friends for dinner. I don’t eat pizza very often, but will day this was really good. The ambiance was great, service friendly and food really tasty. Four of us split 2 little gem salads and 2 pizzas. I had the mozzarella and Gouda pizza and added sausage. Very tasty. Would definitely eat here again.
Pizza service at a fine dining price. It was Friday date night and it took the receptionist 10 min to even get to me. I explained that my husband was parking the car (we were not a group of 6 teenagers). She then declared that I could not sit at the table until ‘my party was complete’. So I sat the 7 min looking at the table that she ultimately sat us at when my husband arrived. I guess that as a 60 year woman, I just look like a liar. The waitress did not take our order for another 15 min. The food was fine (I loved my tomato entree ($17) and my husband thought the salad was so so. All in all we could hardly wait to get out of there.
Three of us ate recently and two of us were extremely pleased with our orders. My little gem salad was great as was my duck breast main; my daughter's lamb ribs, which we all sampled, may have been the best thing any of us ordered, and she was very happy with her agnolotti main. My wife loved her celery salad. The only weak point of the meal was her salmon main. To her it tasted fishy; to me it tasted as if it might have been pre-smoked a little. But 5 out of 6 is pretty respectable, so on the whole we were quite impressed. I wasn't drinking but the cocktails were very enticing. Next time!
Not quite the same as Boot and Shoe Service. Food was good, but not great, timing of food was a little off, was happening to other tables s well, staff was very friendly and helpful, out door seating was delightful.
Love this place! Everything was so flavorful! Staff is so wonderful as well! Grateful to have this place in our neighborhood.
The service was exceptional. Our server was knowledgeable about the menu and gave us excellent suggestions. The over all experience was fantastic.
Great service, great food. Will come again!
It was great. Very casual and nice back patio.
The rebirth of this restaurant is a welcome addition to the Grand-Lake area. Similar food and vibe to its previous incarnation, but without all the baggage. I actually ended up having breakfast and dinner there within a span of three days, and everything was excellent. We had the bread, little gem salad, agnolotti, duck breast, and sausage pizza. The bread was so good, too! We'll definitely be back again :)
Everything was fine. Our server was great and gave us excellent recommendations. However, my main take away was that the place is simply too expensive and I will never go back.
Superb experience, especially the warm and thoughtful service and the tangy flavors. Highly recommend!
Cute restaurant with tasty food, however I found the food to be overpriced based on the portions.
The food was fabulous. The wines were pricey and I’d come back faster if there were more bottles in the $40 range. Also we were on the patio and the noise level was still really high. It would seem that bringing down the music volume a bit would also get diners to stop shouting over it. It would still have a lively vibe without wondering whether my partner could hear me.
always good after many years of going. great drinks and pizza, plus service.
Nice place, friendly service and tasty food but the portions are ridiculously small for the high prices. If you’re going to charge that much at least make sure your customers don’t go away hungry. We actually went home and ate leftover pasta. I’m serious!
Got the gold dust and the pacific coast highway cocktails, both delicious. Then bread, halibut credo, bucatini, squash blossom pizza, yuzu ice cream, and the cake with sweet corn mousse. Expensive but delicious overall. Would definitely come back.
The pizza my god the pizza
It's a super cute place and the staff were all super nice. The drinks we got were great, and watching the bartenders in action was fun. The house-made bread was nice, but not something I'd return for, and the butter was fairly tasteless. After we were seated the service was also good. The little gem salad was odd, good lettuce but the sauce wasn't lovely and fresh and bright, it was creamy and quite flat, with an overpowering dose of tarragon. The pizza was decent but it wasn't more than good, and it took fooooorrrrreeeevvvvvvveeeerrrrrrr to arrive. The halibut crude was excellent, so one/three was as I had expected based on prior reviews. The music was rough, like some kind of experimental sound that would appeal to connoisseurs, but was a terrible backdrop for a nice meal and conversation. The volume and pace of the music was so high and fast that it was quite difficult to simply relax and converse. We asked for our check early just to get out of the atmosphere. Unfortunate, as the staff was great and it's a nice looking place.
I went to check out whether the former Boot and Shoe Service still had it's mojo, and it does! Great cocktails; wonderful, creative small dishes; lively, "hip" atmosphere. A little on the hot side, I think due to the proximity of the pizza ovens...
Friendly attentive service, great quality ingredients and inventive dishes and drinks, relaxed atmosphere, lovely setting inside and on the patio.
Lovely dinner! First time dining after transitioning from boot and shoe, and I must say it is an amazing transformation in food and service. The menu is versatile and innovative. Many exciting twists in seasoning, and the fresh ingredients are prominent in their dishes. We shared the cured halibut for appetizer, sweet and zesty, the fish was so fresh and well rounded out with a sprinkle of caviar and fennel. I had the duck for my entree, I eat duck a lot in restaurants, this was one of the bests, done perfectly, tender and juicy, I had to order the homemade bread to soak up the juices. My hubby had the steak and it was excellent, perfectly done to medium rare. We sat at the patio, nice and shady, very cozy and inviting. Service was excellent, fast and efficient, everything we ordered got delivered fast and kindly. Don’t forget to buy their homemade bread to take some home with you, have some for breakfast the next day. Highly recommended, great experience!
Best pizza of my life!! Great food, great service, reasonable price. All around wonderfulness.
Lovely! Dining In the back patio was delightful. The Wednesday half price wines is an opportunity to try wines you might not usually try.
The food is fresh, flavorful, inventive, and visually appealing.
Unfortunately one of the two desserts was super salty. Everything else was fantastic!
LOVE this place. Food is always excellent and the patio is lovely.
very good food in a nice neighborhoody vibe. drinks were a little pricey for how they were presented but overall, worth the value.
great ambiance. we sat at the high tables which was just fine. Ate ravioli as an appetizer. Very tasty. Then shared a pecorino pizza which was superb. good drinks. i had the levitation. for desert my son ordered a chocolate chip cookie that came with a tumbler of milk! nice touch.
Good pizza and great little green salad.
the same great pizza and salads, plus a fun and good bar scene
Overall fun and lovely experience! We've always considered this a favorite spot for a romantic evening and will continue to visit under new ownership.
Very good service, had reservation for 7:15 for high stools, showed up at 6:45 and were seated at a regular table, which we preferred. Had a little gem salad, very tasty but a bit expensive. had a great pizza and several glasses of unfamiliar but excellent wine. Tipped well as the wait person was attentive and not intrusive. Overall, good food, good service, pricy and very noisy. We will surely go back again.
Great food, nice vibe, good service. Definitely coming back!
Only 1 visit, food was decent, cocktails good; it's just expensive. Cant afford to spend $200 with tax and tip every time you want to go out to eat.
