Sirens Restaurant and Bar
Bull” Terzoli. This seafood-centric spot — with a menu as diverse as its
surrounding San Diego neighborhood — features casual European dishes,
inspired by Frankie’s family recipes and international travel experiences.
Stylish but unpretentious, Sirens straddles the vibrant communities of Hillcrest, North Park and University Heights, offering sustainable seafood, pastas and more — all with fine ingredients sourced from around the world. Try the fresh ahi crudo, dusted with dark chocolate, blood orange honey and ginger-flavored salt. Or the smoked tuna melt with sourdough and brie, heralded by some as the best sandwich in San Diego. Or, for a twist on steak, check out the Sicilian Swordfish with roasted cauliflower and our signature "Bomber" sauce.
Gave a poor review because we set a reservation for the restaurant, but when we showed up, the restaurant was closed with a handwritten sign stating that they were closed for renovations for the month of September. The management clearly didn't turn off the reservation feature, and who knows how many other people found themselves in a similar situation this whole time. Due to this we went across the street to TRUST and had a great time! Too bad for all the lost business at Sirens.
Was excited to try this place for brunch and was not disappointed! The drinks and food were good! Our waitress was very attentive. Excited to have another place to do brunch on the weekends that will take a reservation! I do worry just a little that once word gets out - and they get more busy - that the kitchen won't be able to keep up because the kitchen seems too small for the space. We'll see....
The food is awesome, and the staff is super. Love the decor. Will definitely come back again. Totally recommend this place for casual dining with friends.
Best new restaurant in SD! Food and service are always exceptional. Kaylee does a great job making sure everyone enjoys their experience here. Andrea took care of our table tonight and was super; attentive, never over bearing.
Wanted to have delicious seafood, cocktails and be in a relaxing ambience. Will definitely come back! Do try the Blood Orange Mezcal Margarita 😋
Wonderful restaurant. The service was outstanding.
beyond expectations... I was looking forward to this restaurant because of the Chef. Frank Terzoli. His days on Top Chef were great and I wanted to try his food. You have to try it... I would be a shame for this restaurant to fail... Go... parking is easy to find.
We went for the Sunday brunch.
My friends said they saw a buffet brunch at Sirens on the Internet. $25 price fixed.
I said let’s go.
When we were seated the waitress told us there wasn’t a buffet. So we ordered off the menu.
The food was great.
Big portions and great quality.
At 11 am there was a drag show inside.
We moved from the patio to the bar area to watch the show.
It was so fun. Lady Coco Channel was wonderful.
As was Lady Pepper and (I’m so sorry, I can’t remember the other Ladies name).
It was so fun.
Service was ok considering there was only one nice lady in charge of the reception, bar and table service. Food description sounded really unusuall and good, sorry to report, it was not...
All the crudos were warmer than room temperature, no bueno
One of my new favorite places. Recently remodeled on the inside and very well done. Our waiter was also very accommodating and nice. We started with delicious oysters and I had the chicken gumbo soup which I should have gotten a bowl of. It was spicy and delicious and better than I expected. I had the Sicilian style swordfish and we also had Paella which was also very authentic as I recently was in Spain myself. Can’t wait to go back.
I had the paella, and my friends had the salmon carbonara, the cioppino and the lamb. We were all delighted with our dishes. We started with three crudos -- the chocolate tuna, the cherry hamachi and the octopus -- and these were great. Very interesting flavor combinations! Frankie, the chef, came to our table to welcome us, which was nice. We had a great evening at Sirens and look forward to next time.
Kitchen was extremely slow! Server was attentive.
Sirens was very quiet the night we went, but the service and food was excellent. It's a little pricey, but the seafood seemed to be high quality. A very pleasant experience with great service, excellent wine list, great food and nice ambiance.
Problems getting food out of kitchen in timely manner for our table and patrons next to us. Wait staff was very accommodating but it clearly wasn’t their problem. Loved the menu. Nice quiet outdoor seating. We eat out at various restaurants in San Diego and this is one we would return to because we loved their menu. It was worth the wait.
Small birthday dinner celebration on a Saturday evening. We ordered cocktails, a starter to share and 3 entrees. Our cocktails were served promptly and were well made. Our Steak Tips appetizer was cooked to perfection and was delicious. Our waiter Santiago made some entree suggestions that were spot on. I highly recommend the Pan-Seared Halibut! The complimentary birthday dessert was also a delicious surprise! We are looking forward to our next visit!
You can't taste the duck when you put sweet chili sauce all over it
Relatively new place that seems to be sorting a few things out. Overall very nice. Varied and interesting menu with something for everyone. We will try it again soon.
The food was amazing and the service excellent. I ordered one fish and the sever explained that the fish was not up to their standards and wanted to substitute. The dish I ended up with, sword fish, was great! Service was excellent. Although slightly pricey, the portions were a nice size and well worth the price.
Went to Sirens for Easter brunch, and it was an excellent experience!
Generous portions of crab and sourdough in the Crab Cake Benedict. Delicious smoked salmon in the Salmon Scramble. The Mezcal Manhattan and the Rose Bellini were outstanding drinks. Our server, Santiago, was informative and friendly. And it was a treat when the restaurant owner, Frankie the Bull stopped by to wish us a happy Easter!
I was extremely happy to find out that Sirens participates in the United Airlines Mileage Plus Dining rewards program. I almost always rely on that program to help me find good restaurants when I'm traveling, and it led me here!
Great food and people!
Great fresh food and interesting combinations at amazing prices! Drinks were awesome too! Will come back for sure!
Try it, you’ll be glad
The service and food were wonderful. The wine selection was not to my liking.
It does not get much worse than this. Although the place was almost empty, the service was awful. The fish appetizers and main dish were “off” (expired?) the polenta was a lump of boring, the octopus appetizer was ok but a bit chewy ... and it all took forever to get to the table. Fortunately the drinks came faster and helped ease the pain.
This was my 2nd visit to Sirens, this time for brunch.
Wait staff was prompt and very attentive! Food was yummy...especially chicken and waffle plate. We sat outside this visit and it was lovely. Chef Frankie came out twice to say hi and check on how everything was. Overall another wonderful experience at Sirens...I will definitely be back again :)
My husband and I were in town for the weekend and were looking for seafood for dinner, but didn't want a touristy location. We found Sirens and thoroughly enjoyed our meal outside on the beautiful and relaxing patio. The crudo dishes were EXACTLY what we were looking for, but we also tried the Octupus Escabeche appetizer (very good), and the truly unique and delicious stuffed calimari. Our waiter was excellent, attentive and made great wine pairing suggestions. We would definitely return next time we are in town. The chef / owner was very gracious and made sure to check on us, and made great recommendations.
From the moment Frank, the Host/owner greeted us at the door I knew we made a good choice. The food was outstanding to go along with the very individualized service. I cant wait to go back.
Overall good experience. Food was good and our server was excellent, he provided perfect amount of attentiveness and was everything a server should be. Not sure if this restaurant is only in it’s soft opening stages because it was surprisingly not busy for a Saturday night dinner crowd. It’s very cute, the decor is nice and they have an outdoor patio with a fire pit.
A place to have fun and enjoy good food.
Love the SirenSkirts Fashion Show!!!
Best new Brunch spot in Hillcrest area. Music, DJ, Fashion Shows and amazing food. Waffles are to die for. They also have a great Happy Hour daily.
Great food and service!
We were very impressed with Sirens, especially considering they had only been open 3 weeks. Our waiter, Santiago, was attentive and friendly . We all loved our food (swordfish, calamari, chicken/chorizo pasta, salad, cannoli ). I will come back soon for the seafood salad, very well -priced at $18. Very good deals for happy hour. I do feel, however, that the octopus crudo (tapa) was overpriced at $9 for 4 tiny slices. We had an early dinner at 4:30 before theater, with only one other party in the restaurant, so it was quiet. Considering that, I thought the food came out rather slowly, but this operation is very new. All of us agreed we will return!
Food was decent , but not for the price way too expensive . I ordered halibut and it was just ok for $35 my mom ordered salmon and it was just ok . Fish and chips were great best meal at the table , very strange fir a high end top chef style restaurant .
We had the opportunity to dine twice now at Sirens — first time for brunch, and then on Friday night for dinner. Both experiences were great, with dinner being the slightly better of the two. On each visit Frankie Terzoli not only greeted us, but made everyone in our party feel as if we were invited into his home for dinner. I have watched every season of "Top Chef," so meeting him was fun surprise, but his warmth and love of what he does made that meeting so much more special.
Brunch: the Belgian Waffles topped with fried chicken, an egg and served with a side of warm (thick) maple syrup was good, and filling. The waffles are made the traditional Belgian way, which required them to rise three times and ultimately are much heavier than we "American folk" are used to. I couldn't finish mine, but it wasn't from trying! Other dishes tried: Crab cakes, (good according to my husband but he is still in search of the perfect crab cake) Eggs Benedict (A play on the traditional. There was some confusion about whether the breakfast was vegan as it was marked with a "V" in front of the description, but it showed with an excellent pancetta. The use of the V for vegan and GF for gluten free on the menu was a bit confusing — so diner beware.
Dinner: AMAZING food. The rack of lamb was the BEST I have ever had anywhere. It was served, however, with slightly cold/mushy fingerling potatoes and roasted cauliflower. Also enjoyed by my other guests were the fish and chips, (light and considered the best he has ever tasted) Lobster Mac-n-cheese, (filled with big chunks of lobster) and the passion fruit duck. The only disappointment of the evening were the drinks. Straight up vodka martinis cost an additional $3.00 ($11/reg) and were not as dirty, nor had that float of ice on the top of them that you get with a really "good" martini. We also felt they were a bit watered down. Not accusing, but you won't go here for the drinks as much as the food and warmth of Frankie.
Siren's is a wow. Four of us went in for Brunch on Sunday, and each agreed it was the best food and restaurant experience we've had for quite a while in Hillcrest. For starters, the staff is friendly and genuine, attentive yet not pushy. The food is amazing - especially the unique waffles, Eggs Benedict, and crab cakes - and the Bloody Mary & Bellini refreshing. We ate outside, and found the overall experience absolutely terrific.
They are going through their growing pains right now. The operating partners took good care of us though the service was rough and we found a raw shrimp in one of the dishes. I will give it another chance
We had the fisherman's stew and octopus escabeche — a great midweek lunch! Staff was friendly and attentive.
