Open only from November 20-December 31, Sippin' on Sixth is a holiday pop-up bar with a decidedly tiki twist: think kitschy, over-the-top tropical decorations, festive original cocktails served in holiday mugs and plenty of good cheer.

Portlanders can tap into their inner Beachum with drinks like the “Merry Spritzmas” (prosecco, aperitif, tawny port, cognac, lemon, falernum, fig preserves, cardamom bitters) and “Yule Tide” (tequila, applejack, lime, maple-cranberry syrup). There will also be playful options such as “Ho Ho Hot Buttered Rum” (navy strength rum, spiced honey-butter, vanilla, passion fruit) and the large-format “North Pole Bowl” (Martinique and Jamaican rums, black tea, thrice-spiced honey, lime, vanilla syrup) made to share.

Located off of 6th Avenue and Oak Street across from the "Big Pink" - US Bancorp Tower.
Part of the Courtyard City Center by Marriott hotel.

There was a novelty factor that made it fun. The drinks were very strong.

The Sippin with Santa needs some work. Our first reservations weren't they weren't actually open. Our 2nd and actual time was okay. It's decorated sort of needs more of a tiki feel. Our cocktails took about 20 minutes to make we were the only table there and we're a 3 top. My 2nd drink tasted nothing like my first one even though they were the exact same cocktail., Sharky's 1st Christmas. 1st one pineapple forward 2nd one walnut forward. We couldn't order the Sippin with Santa food because it wasn't being served. The regular menu food was good. Hopefully it will improve if they have it again and it was first time jitters. Also they didn't advertise in Portland at all we found the Portland one because we looked at a different city and Portland was listed.

Don't waste your time. I was willing to be tolerant of the experience if the mugs were at least worth it to look at. This was a bad joke.

Avoid this place while it’s around, which thankfully won’t be for much longer! Made reservations for Christmas Day. We get the text the day before, asking us to confirm - which we did. Not sure why it all went pear-shaped after that, but it did… We get there a few minutes before our reserved time and are told that the bar is closed today. Umm..but we confirmed via text just yesterday. Yeah…we’re sorry. But we spent a fair bit of money to get here, why weren’t we notified earlier today. Yeah…we’re sorry. You know the type of sorry that is SO insincere? Well, we got that in spades when we tried to get some clarity. Nothing else though. We left, with our Christmas off to an awful start and the bitter aftertaste of bad customer service. I sent a note to the bar, and haven’t heard anything from them. Not a peep. Given our experience while we were there, we’re disappointed but not surprised. Thanks so so much, Sippin on Sick and Courtyard CC. And yes, I can be insincere too. 😘

This experience was a letdown for sure. The space didn’t lend itself to the fun, divey, tiki bar experience that the event/Instagram portrayed. If there was Christmas music playing, I couldn’t hear it. There seemed to be only two servers working the whole event, and only one bartender making the tiki drinks. It was clear the cocktails were premixed and none of us enjoyed the drinks we had. The mugs were absolutely fun, and the shishito pepper appetizer was also tasty. Those were about the only highlights. Overall, this was overhyped, overpriced, and underwhelming.

I have been only to one other sip and Santa in Seattle and it was lively and fun and crowded. Unfortunately, that was not my same experience in Portland was quiet no Christmas music and there wasn’t a lot of jolliness. The drinks were delicious.

Very disappointed, I was expecting a real Tiki Popup. The decor was dollar store quality and not much of it. The lighting was very bright and no Christmas music. I think Sippin Santa needs to vet there venues. Menu cocktails were well executed, but you could not order off menu, unless you wanted something simple, like beer. Food was pretty good, be prepared for lots of fried options. I was very excited for this to come to PDX. They have very cute mugs but were all sold out. Not planning to go to a Sippin Santa in the future.

We were ignored when we walked in and it took 20 minutes to seat us when others got seated right away. We also did not get helped for another 20 minutes after being seated. It felt very discriminatory. But the drinks and food were cute and good. The space was not what I had expected- it was a converted diner vs a bar. It seemed like they only had 3 people working as well.

Went for Breakfast with my colleague during a work training and loved it! Jeffrey at the bar is a total gem, the staff were super attentive and nice. The atmosphere was very jolly and made it very cozy with a mix of Santa/Christmas decor and tiki esthetics. Both my colleague and I ordered the "2 Egg Entre", I got the one with sausage and it was surprisingly very delicious! Sounds like they make the sausage in-house. I'll definitely be back!

Our group of friends enjoyed an evening here. The service was great and the decor was festive and fun. The drinks were on par for downtown Portland prices and we enjoyed ours. The festive glasses were fun too! The fries and apps were good. The entrees were okay. Best to go for just drinks. We were concerned at first because reviews have been mixed but we enjoyed our time and are so glad we went!

We loved this pop-up. The food was good. Not outstanding, but the drinks made up for it. The service was amazing and having Tiki Santa to take photos with people and bring food was awesome. The vibe was wonderful and it was a perfect way to spend a holiday brunch.

Had a great time! Went for food and drinks with some friends. Loved the holiday ambiance and decorations, and the service team were friendly and great! Love this restaurant and hotel! They are doing a “Sippin on Sixth” theme for the holidays, so fun. Got me right in the holiday spirit.

I gave all 1 stats because I didn't actually get to enjoy my reservation. When my party for Sippin with Santa.got the the hotel bar the bar tender told us they were closed. When we said we had reservations he seemed confused asked us if we booked through open table we said yes. He said they were closed, that's it no explanation.

Venue is meh; it's basically a 70's diner vibe w some tiki decor. Drinks were so-so; the only cocktail we all enjoyed was the fish bowl one, which serves 2 and costs the most. Very few vegetarian and vegan options on the menu. We ended up getting food elsewhere.

A little disappointed in the service and the atmosphere for our reservation. We were one of a handful of parties, but the staff seemed to be overwhelmed and inattentive for such a slow evening. I also thought the bright lighting in the diner took away from the holiday cheer and "tiki vibes". I had attended a Sippin' Santa event in another city last year and this experience didn't even come close. (We didn't have food; but it had to be rated to continue.)

Got there early, only two other people in the place. No real greeting, no one sat us down, no one presented menus. We were basically forgot about till they saw us walking out. No food menus on tables and tiki drink menu didn’t even have a mai tai. other than that it looked like a hotel breakfast cafe weakly converted to a tiki bar, no ambiance

I absolutely love what they have done with this space! I thought the ambience was fantastic and the service by Jeffrey was incredible. What a GEM! I had a Surf Nut, Sippin Santa, and a Navy shot. These drinks have a kick! I'm Vegan, so I didn't try a lot of the food, but the Curry Butternut Squash soup and Tofu Katsu was delicious. I highly recommend checking Sippin on Sixth out. I'm local and it's lovely to see this area coming back and the city activated. I will be back for brunch with Santa.

Hello, I am very sorry that you had such a poor experience we strive to create better experiences. We were going through the final stages of finishing our setup. But I agree this is no excuse. I can tell you that we now have a curated Christmas playlist by local DJ GREGarious. And several vegetarian or vegan options. If you would be willing to come have another drink I would make sure to personally treat you and a friend to a mélange of dishes just for you to make up for the experience. Again I apologize for the poor experience and I hope you're receptive to giving us the opportunity to make it up to you.

The ambience and vibe are lacking. It’s in an old diner with fluorescent lighting and there was no Christmas music playing. The drinks were good and it was decorated throughout the restaurant. They should add candles to the tables and maybe add curtains to the windows to make it cozier and feel more festive. Cool concept with the tropical Santa pop up but it would have been better in a different venue/space.
