Paella De Mariscos
Peruvian style paella with shrimps, calamari, octopus, mussels and scallops.
Fresh halibut, calamari, shrimps, mussels, marinated in lemon juice and peruvian spices served with peruvian corn.
Cau Cau De Mariscos
Peruvian style seafood stew with mint, potatoes and peas. Served with peruvians steamed white rice.
This was our first visit and we can’t wait to return. The ceviche sampler was outstanding! The salmon with a delicious quinoa side was also a favorite. Friendly service and a nice selection of different cocktails.
We ordered two different types of paella. Both were delicious and servings plentiful. Specialty drinks were an added treat.
Nice Meal with Great Hospitality
I would come back for the service alone. Very welcoming! The food was pretty solid as well. I had the aji de gallina and the flan for dessert.
We had a reservation for 4 on February 2. When we arrived the restaurant was closed.
This was my third dinner visit to Sipan and it does not disappoint. The dishes are tasty and the portions are amble. Service was excellent.
This is always a good spot for a relaxing meal and an adult beverage! And the food is great!!
Our first time at Sipan and we definitely enjoyed it and plan to go again in the near future.
Valentine's dinner was disorganized at epic proportions. Understandably it was a busy night, but there clearly is no excuse for the service.
We had an 8.30pm reservation. We reached 10 minutes early and there were 7 other couples crammed up at the entrance. They all had reservations around 8pm and weren't seated. We were asked to write our names at the front desk despite having reservations, and were seated after 9pm.
We ordered ceviche since we figured it wouldn't take long to make, a Pisco sour and a picante margarita (called something else on their menu). The ceviche was good, the margarita overly spicy. For main course we ordered a steak and a seafood dish.
Around 9.40pm I asked the server how long our food would take to arrive since all the tables around us had been waiting; he said maybe 10 minutes or so. At 10pm he stopped by us again and said the food would be delayed by a bit. I asked by how much longer, he said 5 or 10 minutes. I asked him to tell me 5 minutes or 10 minutes; to be precise. He said he couldn't tell. I asked him to cancel our order and give us the cheque.
We received the cheque promptly, and were charged for the main course, a total of $140. I had to follow the server back into the kitchen area to ask why we were charged for the main course since we had an 8.30pm reservation, were not served until 10pm and had clearly not eaten the main course. The charge was reversed, the server very apologetic, but he didn't have a pen to sign the cheque. They scrambled for another minute to find a pen.
Food was good. The only issue was that they were understaffed on one of the most busiest day out of the year. Server Raul did an excellent job to make sure we had a good service. We had no bad experience, but just seeing how overwhelming the workers looked and seeing everyone angry because of how busy it was it brought our mood down. Overall the whole thing was ok
When we arrived for our 8PM reservation, there were at least 5 parties ahead of us with reservations as early as 7:30 still waiting. There was complete confusion at the reception. Everyone was standing in the small space in front of the desk, waiting. People spilled out the door. The hostess was completely overwhelmed. No one else from the restaurant helped her. We guests took it upon ourselves to create a list for her, which she ended up using. We got seated about 30 minutes late. It took forever for our order to be taken, with minimal wait service. We didn't even get water or menus for at least another 10 minutes. The restaurant did nothing except say "sorry" to make up the experience.
Though the food was reasonable (my date was Peruvian and agreed), the overall experience was substandard.
One of us ordered a flat iron steak saltado. It was only warm and one piece of meat was still slightly frozen. The paella was good but not great. Price seemed high for quality and portion size.
Made a reservation several days in advance; every time slot was open, so figured it would be crowded. When we arrived it was maybe 1/4 full? They seated us at a high table in the bar. We have it a shot, but just wasn’t comfortable so I went to the hostess and said we’d really prefer the dining room. They said nothing was available, and moved us to a low table in the bar. Better, but not great.
Cocktails were good. Food was forgettable. Started with the Causa, a ceviche and the pulpo. The causa was ice cold (as was its plate) - clearly made in advance and pulled from a fridge. At least let it rest and come up in temperature perhaps? Very plain; I’ve had better potato salad at a picnic to be honest.
Ceviche was okay. Pulpo tasted fine but the presentation wasn’t appetizing.
We’re just starting our appetizers and the entrees arrive. Really? Now they’ll be as cold as our appetizers by the time we get to them.
Place was getting crowded and new arrivals were holding the door wide open. Everyone on our end of the room was putting on jackets but none of the staff seemed to care. Couldn’t wait to wrap it up and get out of there.
Took a while to get the check, but finally left and found someplace warm and inviting to have another cocktail Won’t be back.
The night was very enjoyable! Nice location in Saratoga to share a meal with my GF. Good ambiance, nice layout, appropriate level of noise, and staff was attentive. The ceviche is outstanding!!! The entree options were varied enough to provide selection based on pallet preference. The orange sauce on my GF's mahi mahi entree was amazing! A little pricey, but I'm assuming that was influenced more by location than what the menu is? Flavor profile of dishes was subtle, but to be expected for south american food. I would definitely recommend to family and friends.
Dined there with a couple of friends to pre celebrate Valentine day and avoid crowd and fixed not so good menu as it usually is the case. Ha been there before for dinner.
Relaxing, casual ambiance. Peruvian dishes were very good and not overly spiced . I had the paella which was excellent (Kurmi paella ), everyone had different dishes and all were very satisfied. Service was fine. No crowd so noise level perfect . Different cuisine, very tasty . Would go back again.
Great, authentic Peruvian flavor and presentation. Easy to make a reservation online.
Wonderful ceviche and “best Pesco ever”
Unique food in a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended and will certainly return.
Great food and service
Great food, excellent service, descent drinks. Would recommend to others
The food was wonderful, but service was a bit slow - considering there were only people at 2 other tables while we were dining . . .
Had a very nice meal. Ordered the Pollo Saltado on the waiter’s recommendation and it was delicious!
Overall great place to share a wonderful meal with friends and family. Their food offers a tasty not often found in the Bay Area.
The service at this restaurant is wonderful - attentive, friendly, professional. I was disappointed in the food. I got a dish recommended by the server as authentic Peruvian. It was...OK. Two of my party got the special and it was acceptable. The ceviche was excellent, though, and it's the only reason I would come back.
Authentic!!! Absolute fantastic Peruvian food, reminded me of the good old days back in Lima.
Great ambiance. The menu is much cheaper than you would expect from the fine dining touches of the setting. The food was kind of bland but was a great value for a nice dinner out.
Family visiting from out of town
Surprised to find such an excellent restaurant in Saratoga that was not totally crowed. This is a gem that offers exceptional quality at a reasonable price . Proud to take my friend there.
We had dinner before a concert at Mountain Winery. Wow, what a delicious surprise. I love eating at the restaurant at the winery - the views make it worth it. But Sipan is going on our list for pre-show again next year.
I had the Ceviche Pescado and Cau Cau de Mariscos. The ceviche was delicious as I expected based on other reviews. But the Cau Cau was the surprise for me. I wasn't expecting to finish it because I didn't arrive too hungry and the ceviche was pretty good-sized. But I couldn't stop eating it. Every bit of seafood in it was scrumptious.
My wife had some of my ceviche, plus the Lomo Saltado which was yummy too. My sister tried the Halibut that was very slightly over-cooked (not enough to deduct a star), but oh-so-tasty.
Also don't skip the cocktail menu. I tried a Sipan Sour that was good enough I ordered a second one. Like I said, we'll be back.
The food just wasn't as flavorful as we expected and my friend didn't like the texture of her chicken. The plantains were yummy.
Short Rib was fair - not as tender as it could be. The sauce did not compliment the flavors of the meat. Salmon appetizer was not quite what we expected—ton of sauce vs a compliment. Also very loud— every surface is glass or concrete— would benefit from some curtains or rugs to absorb some noise reflection
We loved the Ceviche. The ambience was relaxing as it felt like nice dining without being pretentious. Service was prompt and friendly.
Love the pisco sour menu and the ceviche is to die for!
The menu is very impressive, with seafood and specialty Peruvian dishes. The service was attentive and friendly.
We went to this restaurant before a concert at the Mountain Winery. Perfect for that occasion. Not overly busy (Monday night) and the service was very good and attentive. The menu was varied and several things piqued my interest. We shared ceviche and pork belly skewers for dinner and I had the paella kumir as an entree. All were well presented and very good. There were spices but also a bit of blandness; however, it was all in all a good meal. Would go again, but maybe not top of my list. Definitely worth a try for variety.
An interesting cuisine, great for trying something new
I love this restaurant. The menu has been recently revised and they have a nice choice of Pisco drinks. It’s a favorite place when I am on my way to a Mountain Winery concert.
4:45 a great time to dine and take advantage of happy hour drink and appetizer prices. We were looking for slightly exotic food and Sipan delivered. Happy to have discovered the place and to have eaten the paella and the bread pudding and Peruvian fruit ice cream.
