About this restaurant

  • Charming
  • Good for groups
  • Great for happy hour
Sinsa is a Korean American wine bar in the East Village that serves inventive remixes of classic Korean dishes with global influences. It is the sister restaurant to Rice Thief in LIC. The food is designed to pair with wine and cocktails, and the ambiance is warm and stylish. Some of guest favorites are the Kimchi Uni Toast, Wagyu Beef Tartare (Definitely add the caviar supplement!), Southern K.F.C., and of course, the Rice Thief which is an homage to their sister restaurant. The restaurant is named after the Korean word for "gentleman," and the staff strives to make guests feel welcome and cared for. Whether it's date night, a special occasion, or just a fun evening with friends, Sinsa is the place to go.

Food and drinks were so good, Kaung was very hospitable and Jon recommended a delicious riesling. The ambience inside the restaurant was amazing, I had a blast!

It kind of Korean food meets french wine bar. I think there are some dishes which are stars - the wagyu tartare, shrimp toast, shishito peppers, korean chicken. I think the scallop crudo and rice thief was good, but compared to their sister restaurant Rice Thief, I prefer theirs. The blue crab fettuccine was interesting. The sour taste was offputting but had the makings to be really good. Otherwise, a really good dinner! The wine program is stellar.

The food is excellent! Portion sizes are perfect, not too much or too little. Each dish is a special flavor combination which should be savored and appreciated. The service is attentive and accommodating. I will definitely be back.

Sinsa was a great choice for date night. What truly stood out was how our server Kong balanced professionalism and friendliness. He was efficient yet never rushed, thorough yet relaxed. I can confidently say it was one of those rare dining experiences where the service alone elevates the entire meal. Thank you, Kong, for making our night memorable. Highly recommend seeking him out because you’ll be in incredibly capable hands.

Didn’t get great guidance on menu options. The pasta dish was incredibly rich and just over the top and I like rich food. They also didn’t have a couple of their signature dishes which was a bummer.

Tonight’s dinner was truly a standout experience. We dined at a spot that effortlessly blended style and flavor, making for an unforgettable date night. The ambience struck the perfect balance—chic, modern, and undeniably cool, with dim lighting and sleek décor that set the mood just right. We kicked things off with the “Rice Thief,” a dish that completely stole the show with its bold flavors and comforting textures. The Korean fried chicken was perfectly crispy and flavorful, delivering just the right amount of heat and crunch. The ceviche was bright, fresh, and expertly balanced, a refreshing contrast to the richness of the other plates. Equally impressive were the zero-proof cocktails. Each was crafted with as much care and creativity as any classic cocktail—layered, complex, and beautifully presented. It’s rare to find a place that puts that much thought into non-alcoholic options, and it made the night feel inclusive and elevated. Overall, everything from the service to the plating hit the mark. This spot isn’t just dinner—it’s an experience. Ideal for a date, catching up with friends, or treating yourself to something special. We’ll definitely be back soon.

We came here to celebrate a friend's birthday, and the food was super delicious. We came around happy hour, where certain drinks were priced at $12, and oysters were $2 per piece. We ordered the kimchi uni toast: the perfect bite-size, oysters: very unique sauces, wagyu tartar, and rice thief: just perfect. The staff were super friendly and would return to try the other dishes.

Food was so good. Maybe the best oysters we've ever had. We also had the sea bass, celery fries and rice thief. All three were delicious. The wait staff was quick and very helpful in choosing wines to go along with our food. Will definitely be back and with more friends next time
