This is a beautiful setting, with views of the Columbia River and even Mt Adams. It is an elegant restaurant, but I was disappointed in some of my meal. The Caesar Salad was excellent, but the rack of lamb didn’t have much flavor and the crust was uninspiring. The vegetables were nice, but needed a bit more flavor. Our server was excellent and made a very good wine recommendation.
While the staff was very polite and nice, there was a large amount of disconnect from the seating, to the presentation of the food. The menu online did not match that of the menu we received, but that was not a large issue. The staff not knowing the names of the cheeses presented or other items served was odd. The presenting of honey, a largely depicted "part of the experience", 10 minutes after the scones were served was not too ideal. When asked if we needed any condiments, my daughter asked for some catsup for the potatoes. We were quickly provided two small containers. The shock came when after putting it on our plates and taking the first bite, we quickly discovered we had been provided sriracha hot sauce in error. Well, it looked like catsup anyway. We were then provided catsup and some new potatoes. The omelet was great. The desert was good too. To us a Sunday brunch in this setting should have a flow of service and food however, in this case, flow was lacking completely.
Meal was good overall but somewhat spoiled by use of the lower floor as a wedding venue. Music from the DJ was far too loud below us.
The two things that made our meal here so wonderful were the view and the service. The dining room overlooks the Columbia River from a high bluff. Diners look down upon the gardens and walks of the hotel (the Columbia Gorge Hotel) to the broad expanse of the river, which was dotted that evening with windsurfers taking advantage of the strong early evening breezes. We were also most happy with our server, Tim, who was prompt and friendly. He offered honest opinions on the dishes we considered ordering, guiding us to choices that turned out to be just what we wanted.
I had reservations and was the second person to be seated and our cheese/fruits and pastry tower did not come out till after our main meals arrived. How did people who were seated after us get theirs. I had people in town was Texas and I wanted to impress them with this wonderful meal and I was so disappointed.
Wonderful view, great food, easy to make reservations. We mis judged our travel time and it was very easy to alter the time. Great service to boot
Old World charm and great view of the Columbia River and Gorge. Service was impeccable for the location. Food was tasty and well presented. Despite upscale feel and appearances prices were very reasonable. My wife had the prime rib special for the evening, which was outstanding. I had a seafood pasta with smoked salmon, shrimp and crab ravioli. It was presented in a cream sauce which was a bit heavy for my liking. Only negatives were that desert was nothing special and the wine bottle prices seemed high. Would go again when in Hood River.
Featured prime rib was up to par. Potatoes too dry. Vegetables too few. Wife's scallops were quite good. Were back for happy hour the next day. Deep fried fish unfortunately had oily streaks that are unpleasant to the taste buds. A bit surprising as most bites of the fish were quite tasty. Wife had the spicy shrimp that were too dry as is frozen and refrozen before cooking. Too bad that in Oregon you did not have any really good porter or stout beers available.
We were engaged at the Columbia Gorge Hotel almost 40 years ago so, of course, this place holds a special place in our hearts. That being said, the hotel has changed hands at least once that I know of. The new owners have done a great job of increasing the service and offerings at the hotel including the Cliff House dining room menu and its attention to detail. The wait staff from the greeters to the bus boy and girl to the waiter were all very well trained, knowledgeable, friendly, engaging, and professional. The chef prepared a wonderful variety of offerings. Both of our meals were fantastic and we had pasta!!! We were very happy with the food and service.
We dined in the bar one night and that was great, as well.

We went to Simon's for the Thursday night prime rib dinner. Great value and good beef.
Everything was good. The main course, the sides, the dessert, the service, the view.
We were very tired from a long day of travel; so that has a negative effect on our evaluation. First the service was very good except that our original waiter was replaced for most of the evening by an arrogant, somewhat overbearing individual. I had a salad with some shrimp added; it was good. My wife had fish which was dry. The wine we chose was very good. Choose not to eat there the next night.
A very nice surprises . The food was great (we took the Salmon and the Filet Mignon) and a great treat for families, the kids menu has very good prices and large portions. The services was excellent. Every one had fun and enjoyed the food. ( not an easy task with our children!)
I brought my husband to the Columbia Gorge for brunch because he's never been there and I had such amazing memories from years back. to say that I was disappointed in the meal and the service from the waitress is putting it mildly. My past experience at the Columbia Gorge hotel brunch was storytelling about the history of the falls and the ambiance of the hotel. And there was none of that. Plus the food wasn't very good. We don't be back.
This is a beautiful hotel with amazing views - we loved visiting the property. The food we had in the main dining hall was terrible though - very outdated and needs some work. I'd recommend the property but not a dining experience here.
Beautiful setting, an elegant, classic dining room with a glorious view of the majestic Columbia River. The food was delicious, though the crab in the raviolis was rather mushy.

We brought my great aunt here for her 98th birthday, on July 25th. We were a large group, 12 people. Our server seemed to be barely tolerating us through the whole evening. We ordered appetizers, but they never arrived. Three people ordered extras with their dinners and never got them. The food was just ok, a little bland. The piano player was fun, and played Happy Birthday for my aunt, as well as all our requests. (Although the music was a little loud, when we were trying to converse with the guest of honor.) When we received our bill, all the forgotten items were listed. We pointed this out to our server, who corrected the amount and brought it back to us. There was never an apology or an offer to somehow compensate us for the oversight. He did bring my aunt a complementary dessert of her choice, but I suspect this is standard procedure. So disappointing for a restaurant with such a lovely atmosphere and view.
Great food and great service in a beautiful location.
Beautiful location overlooking the many windsurfers in the Columbia river. Went for lunch and celebrated another birthday. I felt like we were transported to Lake Como in Italy just waiting for George and Amal to walk in.

Went for our anniversary. Beautiful day and we explored the wonderful gardens and property. Service was excellent and live piano played great selections. Multiple courses served for brunch were good.
We made reservations, but that was never mentioned. Nevertheless, there were no window seats when we got there. They seated us with the option to move to a window seat when one opened up. One opened up almost immediately, they even offered to give us all new table setting, this was classy, but totally unnecessary we didn’t mind carrying our plates and drinks over. Our waiter, Tim I believe, took a. Interest in our conversation and my Russian made watch. He made the evening very pleasant. The food, view, atmosphere, and service was fantastic. They made our 22nd wedding anniversary even more special!

Located within National Historic Landmark. Very nice view of Columbia River. Waiter was very attentive, knowledgeable and polite. Pacifica pasta recommendable, as well as their wines by the glass.
I love the location, but the food choices were not what we were used to, and we missed some of the old options. The server was very helpful, but it seemed they were understaffed. We appreciated two complimentary desserts for our two "birthday girls" - a lovely touch!
Such a beautiful place to enjoy a romantic Sunday brunch. The host was very amiable, genuine, and non pretentious. Our waitress, warm friendly and timed her visits to our table perfectly. The food was very good and plenty of it. To top it off we strolled around the grounds and took in beauty like no where else.
In short....we loved it!
Our overall experience was very disappointing. We had a reservation and asked if they could seat us early (we had stayed at the hotel) and the host said absolutely. After we were seated we felt that we were forgotten after the first contact by our waitress. The service was less than stellar but observing the level of service all other tables received we were certain we were not receiving what others were. The food appears to be "banquet" food. Preplated at best. The eggs benedict were cold and the eggs were hard. The meat omelet was full of meat but it was again not very good. The quiche was alright and a little warm. The side potatoes were the same you would find at any buffet but this was not a buffet. The dining room and our particular waitress was not what I would say was busy. There was one wedding party but a different waitress other than that the restaurant didn't merit excusing the lack of service or the quality and temperature of food. I definitely would find other local restaurants for breakfast the next time we visit Hood River.
View was great. Wait staff were courteous but very slow. Food was good but not spectatular.

The service was awkward, we arrived for our reservation only to be told to hurry so the kitchen can focus on the buffet. We rushed to take our order and the food took almost an hour. The waitress then blamed the kitchen and gave us an uncomfortable story full of excuses. My food was cold and the eggs were cooked unevenly. I was there to celebrate Fathers Day and regret booking with Simons Cliff House. I will inform others to stay away from dining but to enjoy the beautiful property.

We had the Sunday brunch. The food was tasty but arrived lukewarm. The wait staff were nice but the service was very slow. Beautiful setting with stunning views across the River. Nice ambience. Not really worth the cost given that there are much better options in town.

The atmosphere is lovely. If you are someone who considers themselves a foodie and is accustomed to trying new restaurants, I wouldn’t recommend this one. Everything tasted of refrigerator. Putting grocery store cheese and club crackers on a 3-tiered plate display doesn’t make it high-quality. The service was friendly and disorganized without communication to the guest about what to expect from the order of the courses. The staff was very apologetic; don’t apologize, just communicate. The management should be held accountable; our brunch ran 2 hours with all the waiting between courses. Would have been tolerable if we understood what to expect, but long stretches of time went by without seeing or hearing from our waiter.

We felt the food was over priced. Scallops were over cooked and pasta dish too thick and quite average. The view is wonderful. If we go back, we’ll go for happy hour - same view, much more reasonable prices.
