    Llegamos al restaurante, los trabajadores en general nos dieron una cálida bienvenida. Al sentarnos en las sillas, notamos que eran incómodas, se sentían como sin soporte en la sentadera-el lugar tiene que revisar esto. Pedimos agua de la casa, el pichel de vidrio venía lleno de marcas de dedos lo cual se veía bastante mal. Nos recibieron con 2 copas de vino espumante de la Casa de cortesía por nuestro aniversario, ese fue un lindo detalle, sin embargo el mesero no sabía servir vino y regó el vino al servir cada una de las copas. También pedimos vino tinto y las copas que nos dieron eran diferentes, no eran iguales ( copas de vino tinto, parecía una de blanco o 2 copas de juegos diferentes de copas-pedilos el mismo tinto ambos). El servicio puede es la nota baja del lugar, realmente puede mejorar y los meseros ser más atentos para el alto perfil de comida que se sirve en el lugar que es exquisita, pero bajo puntos por la falta de entrenamiento de los meseros. Sugiero incluso un asesoramiento en ese sentido porque dista mucho de la calidad en relación al lugar donde se come qué es de los mejores restaurantes del país. Esto lo vi a nivel general en los meseros: no saben servir el plato, copas, postre, etc. ( se sirve a un lado de la persona sentada y se retira por otro) -en general sí explican el plato pero demasiado cerca de los comensales. La genialidad del chef debe ir acorde con la "experiencia restaurante" ya que en nuestro caso vamos a un restaurante de ese nivel por ambos factores.

    As an OpenTable VIP member for over 13 years, I’ve dined at many high-end restaurants. I’ve always appreciated how those establishments take the time to recognize both my loyalty and the special occasion noted in the reservation. Unfortunately, that was not the case here. I booked this reservation to celebrate my third anniversary, expecting a memorable evening. Instead, we were seated at a generic table with no welcome, no acknowledgment of the occasion, and absolutely no effort to make the night feel special. It felt like just another reservation in their system—no thought, no care. While I will say the cocktails were excellent and the appetizers were solid, the rest of the experience was incredibly disappointing. The service was inattentive and slow, despite the restaurant not being particularly busy. Our server forgot part of our order and barely checked in on us. The main courses arrived lukewarm, lacked flavor, and were nowhere near worth the price tag. To make matters worse, it was hard to converse with the waiter; he seemed to lack interest and did not care much about knowing about my wife and me. Not even to care about asking where we are from or what the special occasions are. When dining at this level—especially for a meaningful occasion—you expect thoughtful service, attention to detail, and a sense that your presence matters. Sadly, this restaurant missed the mark on all fronts. I won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend it to others looking for an exceptional dining experience. The quality of service isn't worth the price you pay. The restaurant is overpriced but poor in food quality and service.

    We had a mixed experience here for dinner. We did the chefs tasting menu and found some dishes that were tasty and well crafted and others that were bland and tough. The last savory dish, a pork preparation, was very good and we had one dish with a small piece of sausage that was tasty, the lionfish tartare was delicious and a small biscuit was soft and warm. The elements that didn’t work were the corn which was tough and cold and filled with a hear of palm puree which was very bland. The sardine slice was quite fishy with minimal seasoning. We did the Silvestre drink pairing which I would highly recommend. They made different fruit based wines/liquors to pair with the dishes including a blackberry vermouth, pineapple wine and they were all beautifully dry and flavorful. Overall a mixed experience and I did not feel it was a good value given the inconsistency of the dishes and small portions of meat.

    The food was exceptional and service was good too. The dishes were very innovative and totally off the beaten path, yet very well presented and tasty. The tastes of tangy, sweet, salty and textured soft, creamy and chewy were all very well balanced in every single preparation.

    A truly excellent culinary experience with flavours I had never experienced before. Fantastic service that was personal and informative. Presentation of the food and the classic stylings of the food made it all visually stunning

    The food is excellent. You will be pleasantly surprised by the combinations and inventions of the chef. Definitely a great option, if you like to try a variety of different flavours.

    The Alma tasting menu was incredibly creative, clever, and surprisingly. It showcased Costa Rican history, culture, geography, and cuisine across seven outstanding courses. The Silvestre beverage pairing of house fermented wines was an excellent companion for the courses. Our server kindly and enthusiastically explained the dishes and their significance to us. This experience is not to be missed for visitors to San Jose.
