The Silver Heights Restaurant opened its doors at 2169 Portage Avenue in June, 1957. Former cabbie Anthony Siwicki Sr. had no idea it would still be going strong today! His operating philosophy was simple: “Provide your guests with quick and friendly service, and to serve fresh, delicious quality food at a reasonable price”…and to keep it that way. The restaurant is now in its third generation going forward.

Silver Heights Restaurant was slowly transformed from a coffee shop into a lounge and dining room and bar. The adjoining hardware store on the East side became the dining room. In 1964 Tony bought out his three partners and his three sons Jim, Dave and Allan have grown the business.

    Service was excellent and we were very well attended to. It was a quiet night in the restaurant so not a good measure for the busier timeframes. One of the guests had Steak and one had Prime Rib and both said the meat was done to perfection. One had Caesar Salad with a Grilled Chicken Breast and was pleased with the amount of chicken although felt a bit underdressed. I had the Salt and Vinegar Pickerel and was happy with the portion size and the cook on the fish was perfect. The hit for dessert was the deep fried ice cream.

    Our waitress was excellent. Our food was hot, delicious and large quantities which were great. The only negative aspect was that the parking in the back of the restaurant. When we came out to leave my car was blocked in by 2 other cars. The owner was very nice and helped us get the cars moved and guided me when I was backing up as there were 2 hydro poles close by.

    Haven’t been to Silver Heights restaurant in over 10 years. I don’t know why since I live in the area but we were very happy with our choice. My prime rib was done to my liking along with my wife’s tenderloin. Very flavourful & tender. Our waitress was very pleasant and attentive. Truly a neighbour gem and we’ll be back to try other entrees. Cheers.

    In ourparty of 6 we had a vegetarian & a picky eater who prefers pasta, both were able to find something & all 6 of us were very pleased with the meal. Also surprised at the cost, expected it to be more.
