Silver Fox Steakhouse Richardson Ratings and Reviews
We were there for Thanksgiving. My expectations are never very high for holiday dining, because places that are open are usually overcrowded and rushed, and limited menus are often mediocre. We were pleasantly surprised by how good the food was--the roasted turkey was moist and tender, and the traditional sides were all excellent. The place was crowded and loud and slow (as expected), and there was a glitch in service--they forgot our salads--but they were duly apologetic and we still had an enjoyable experience.
We came for Thanksgiving Dinner and were pleasantly surprised. In spite of sold out seatings we never felt rushed or hurried. We ordered a bottle of wine that was not available so the sommelier came to our table to make recommendations and provide samples. We were able to select a wonderful white burgundy that went perfectly with the meal. Food, service and ambience were suitable for the occasion and exceeded our expectations. Thank you for a great dining experience.
I reserved a spot for 7:30 online and arrived on time, however when I arrived the place was packed and I was told there was still a 10 -15 minute wait and I could sit at the bar (only 2 seats at the bar, the fireplace on the end was cozy but the TV went out with a message that the cable bill needed paid). The bar waiter offered to give me a menu but I never got one.
After 30 minutes I went back to the reservation desk and was told it would be 10 more minutes, and then the table was ready. The food was good, especially the III Forks Salad with Walnut Maple vinagrette. The waitress Jeanine was good; she just spoke really fast when describing the meal selections. The steak was good, the sides are routine veggies, I just would have thought perhaps they would be grilled or prepared a bit differently for an upscale place. The visit was enjoyable otherwise.
We had the Dinner for two... the 8 oz Filet Mignon was seasoned and cooked a perfect medium rare. We has the roasted brussels sprouts and it was plenty for both of us since the filet came with mashed potatoes, sugar snapped peas, and tomatoes and green onion.
It was a great meal and a great deal. All we had room for was the bread pudding with iced cream and coffee.
Our sever was Jesse and he was wonderful. Professional and just the right amount of attention to our table. We will be back...
The night started off right with a wonderful server. Jesse did an outstanding job. The wine was very fitting to our meals. I highly recommend the crab with the filet mignon. The bread pudding and after dinner drink put it over the top. Will definitely be back.
Dining at Silver Fox, was overall, a good experience. I'd heard about Silver Fox about a year ago and thought I'd give it a try. I took my friend, who had flown in from NYC, out on Sat night. He was really impressed with his rib-eye steak, but thought the whipped potatoes were bland. I had the filet mignon and it was just that, a filet mignon. Nothing really impressive or exciting. The lobster mac n cheese was just okay as well. While the food wasn't as great as expected, the customer service was excellent. I will definitely be back to give it a second try.
The service was excellent, attentive but not intrusive, friendly but not hovering. I was a little disappointed in the bone in ribeye. The part of the steak nearest the bone was somewhat stiff but the lower portion of the steak was very tasty, tender, well marbled and everything you would expect from a ribeye. It was cooked exactly as I ordered it (medium) and had a little char on the outside-excellent. In addition to potatoes, it was served with very crunchy, short green beans, a slice of tomato, and a raw green onion. We ordered a side of creamed spinach which I thought was rather bland. It is a very large meal especially if you order a salad which we did. My friend ordered the petite filet and said it was excellent, best one she ever had. Singing was offered for my birthday . I declined but the server offered a brief sampling, he had a great voice, I probably should have accepted the singing to really top off a very enjoyable dining experience!
