Silver Fox Steakhouse Frisco Ratings and Reviews
I have been to Silver Fox no less than 25 times i would guess this has to be the worst service I ever received . I do give the a little lea way as they had 4 large groups of 20 or more at the same time while we were there which was interesting . While i am sure it was a large bill on all , they were great top be sure imposed at a high percentage because of the size of the groups none the less 2 and 4 deserve to be served as well in a timely manner - Having said that food for thought for the management . Still i will go back
This was one of the most unfortable dinners I have ever had! I confirmed my reservation upon entering the door. The young lady answered the phone and asked me to give her a minute. When she came back, she asked the group that came in behind me if they wanted a booth or table. She came back to seat my guest and I. My guest asked for a booth (4 available), only to be told they were already taken. Again, the next patron was asked if they wanted a seat or a booth. (You see where this is going, right?) The crabcake was mediocre and the tenderloin tip was overpriced and overcooked. The potatoes and snap peas were good. The bread pudding was very dry. Not coming back.
We were dining with friends to celebrate my husband's birthday and our anniversary. We have dined with Silver Fox before and always enjoyed everything about this place! On this night, everything was great except our waiter was rushing us! This was a night we wanted to relax, with cocktails & appetizers first before ordering our meal, wine, etc. As soon as appetizer came he was back asking if we were finished and ready to order. He was very attentive but barely gave us time to look over the menu and was rushing us through dinner. Definitely will go back as we like Silver Fox but hoping our next experience we will not be rushed!
As always the food was great at SilverFox, however this time we were seated close to the bar section and it was very loud. Also seeing the TV's was a huge turnoff as I am at a fine dining establishment. Next time I go I will request a more quiet place to sit. Food was on par as usual, service was good but not great, (water glass was empty on several occasions and it took forever to get the bread out). I was drinking wine and SilverFox has a great wine list so you will always have something great to pick out. They had several off menu choices and I picked one and was not disappointed. My wife and I normally have an awesome experience at SilverFox but this visit was not the best! I will go again but without a honest review what is the point of doing it.
I had the bone in ribeye. It was excellent. I took my family as a gift and everyone enjoyed their food. Our reserved table was ready as soon as we got there, our food did not take long to bring out, and the staff was pleasent and helpful. It is fairly expensive, so I like it for special occasions. This is somewhere I will go back to.
I took the family Christmas Eve as I have many years previously. We always look forward to the Prime Rib although some of the group had steaks. For the first time in all the times I have been there for the Prime Rib, this time is was tough. My wife had the 10oz cut and said she could barely cut it, although she managed enough to be satisfied. I had the 16oz cut. Not only was it difficult to cut it was so chewy I only managed to eat about 1/4 to 1/3 of it by the time all 7 others had finished their meals so I just left it on the plate. The waitress asked if I wanted a box to take it and I said no, it was too tough. She did the right thing and took it off the bill. But that still meant I didn't really have a meal that evening. I don't know if my and my wife's cuts where just luck of the draw, if Silver Fox has a new supplier or if they have changed the way the Prime Rib is cooked, but it was disappointing and I hope they find a solution as i always had the Prime Rib whenever we went to Silver Fox. With 5 other premium steak houses close around the Prime Rib needs attention. At the same time those of our group who had steaks said they were good.
My wife and I have visited this Silver Fox in Frisco, TX, many times; we save it specially for anniversaries, birthdays, special guests, etc., when we want an outstanding dining experience. Unfortunately, our experience on December 23 was absolutely embarrassing for our guest and for us; everything was atrocious; we will NEVER visit this establishment again. These are some of the horrible things that happened in what we consider to be an upscale restaurant. Apparently additional tables were moved in for the holiday period so there was barely enough room to walk to our table, with a commensurate noise level in what we consider to be a quiet setting. The Prime Rib was horrible: Too salty with too much fat; we sent two plates back because of this and the waitress informed us that the kitchen staff argued with her that the meat was not too salty. The aesthetics of the platters was abysmal: The mashed potatoes were just slopped on and were fighting for space with the nearby peas. The waitress removed two sets of silverware after the appetizers, said she would bring replacements, but when the main course finally appeared, we had to remind her that two in our party needed utensils with which to eat. We continuously asked for the "sliced tomato/spring onion" tray and it was NEVER brought to our table. The waitress was very aggressive in trying to sell other items on the menu. In sum, the setting, service, food, and food presentations were abominable and absolutely not commensurate with the prices that this joint charges.
Silver Fox Diner
Drink orders took about 10 minutes and we were sitting in the bar. Our server couldn't get a salad order correct....twice! He made excuses on why it was wrong and blamed other servers for his mistake. He couldn't get the bill separated for two couples to save his life and his appearance looked shaggy. The valet topped it off by leaving a key fob in our friends car all night and then when they pulled his car up, they told him "it's in there somewhere". Even after they were told we were in a hurry to go, they purposefully walked to retrieve my vehicle. The manager was notified and he didn't seem to care. This used to be one of our favorite places but now we will stay away because it seems they have lost focus on customer service both inside and outside. Literally.
Yesterday was our third Thanksgiving at Silverfox for their fixed price dinner. Choices included two salads, a traditional turkey entree, chateaubriand, or salmon, and three dessert choices. Overall very good, as we would expect. Two of us had the turkey entree, and one the chateaubriand. Two opted for cheese cake with raspberry sauce, and I had the beacon pie with vanilla ice cream. They serve gravy separately, coming around to each table with pitchers. The gravy is beef-based, only one type available. If I had any requests, it would be to serve turkey gravy as an alternate.
My wife and I love Silver Fox - it is clearly our favorite steak house in the DFW area and has been for many years. On most visits, the service has been above the norm. However, this visit was somewhat disappointing. Our waiter told us he was new and normally, that is not a red flag nor a problem. He seemed a bit flustered and forgetful at times during the dinner. He failed to bring us the traditional tomatoes and onions after our entrée was served. No big deal but maybe he needs a little bit more training on attention to detail.
