Silver Fox - Grapevine Ratings and Reviews
We went for our anniversary and were less than impressed. The service was excellent but quality for the price was below expectations. The salad was great, the wine list was impressive and I really enjoyed my sea bass with truffle Mac & cheese. My husband ordered a medium rare filet that came out way too rare & was taken back to the kitchen. The chef brought it back out and it still wasn’t correct. As he went to take it back again, he dropped half of it and so he started a brand new steak (which also came out rare). The positive - they did everything from a service standpoint to make it right and didn’t charge for the steak. The downside is that for a steakhouse, a filet is something that should be a home run every time.
Unimpressive. Over priced for the quality. My wife ordered the fillet mignon which was ok but the chef cannot prepare seafood at all. We ordered the tuna tartare appetizer and it was badly prepared with strings of connecting fat and not chopped through. I ordered the seared scallop dinner and the scallops were way over cooked to the point of having a very rubbery texture (chewing gum) There are so many better choices for that price point in that area.
Went for anniversary dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The Bartender made us a couple of great pre-meal drinks that were very generous. The hostess was awesome, allowing us to take some time in the bar before being seated. Our server was great as well. She knew the menu well and was very attentive, but not too much. The food was great as well, generous portions and very tasty. Overall we had a great experience. We would definitely recommend and go again.
I felt that the service was excellent. The food was decent but absolutely not worth the amount charged. A $45 filet tends to have a little more attached to it, meaning high end restaurant, upscale atmosphere, etc. I feel like while the restaurant was good it was overpriced for what it was.
Awesome as always.
This is a best value in high end Dallas Steakhouses. In addition to a top flight prime steak you get hearty sides and tomatos and scallions with every meal. The bone in filet is my favorite.
In addition to a great ambiance you can easily carry on conversations with your table mates.
Silver Fox is a jewel that is surrounded by many choices. The steaks were excellent as was the service. It had been some time since anyone in our party had been in.
Saul, Proprietor and Executive Chef, stopped by to check on us, a nice touch.
As a party of 8, we enjoyed having a round table and a quiet atmosphere.
Do check out this gem. It is sure to exceed your expectations.
We had a reservation but arrived early and waited at the bar. The hostess never came to get us and I had to go back and tell her we were still waiting and she seated us. Bartender spilled the drink when serving it, and then when he returned with a new drink he had taken it upon himself to make substitution on my drink rather than tell me he did not have the requested vodka in stock and suggest substitution - I had requested a Citron vodka and he gave me Deep Eddy Lemon which is not even the same category, I did not make fuss as we had already been delayed getting drink due to spill.
Excellent service, very quiet (We were the last table after 9:30). Running out of Scallops (A minor problem)brought the Executive Chef to our table to offer alternatives thay included a smaller quantity of Scallops. Lee, our waiter was quick to recognize that we wanted a leisurely pace for our meal and adjusted accordingly. Although we left 10 minutes after closing time the entire staff was very gracious.
Our appetizer was excellent with quite possibly the best crab cakes we've had away from the DelMarVa area. The scallops? Completely unbelievable.
I would go back for a those two items as a main dish and would gladly pay a premium. They were that good.
My Rack of Lamb was done to perfection and they also were able to serve the filet my wife ordered to her satisfaction without losing too much of the tenderness. The wine list is extensive and for the most part very reasonably priced.
I was very appreciative of being order a decent champagne split to enable a glass with our seafood appetizers.
This was our first time after wanting to try it for many years. The food was good (scallops were excellent, steak was ok) but the restaurant was dated. We assumed on a Saturday night it would be crowded; there were many tables open and the bar was almost empty. The background music didn't fit an upscale steak restaurant. We are glad we tried it but will not be back.
Great food and great service. Don't let the outside appearance fool you as this restaurant is a little older than the other steakhouses in the area but it has more character like the original Bob's Steakhouse in Dallas. The service is much better than the other steakhouses in the area. I would even consider this a hidden gem.
We went to Silver Fox for Restaurant Week. Apparently to offset the reduced price the quantity of food was also reduced. I have eaten here before and expected to get a similar meal to prior visits. In the future, I will skip restaurant week week at Silver Fox.
Selected SF because of restaurant week special. Dinner was really good, everyone said the meal was done well and very tasty. Dessert was also thought well of and sweet. Waitress (server) was below par and not very personable and didn't seem to get it (understand) that we were in no hurry to order / eat and leave. Asked her to be patient and we'll order later but this didn't seem to be well understood. Overall, service was below par and it's fixable, I just don't understand the need to (while drinking a cocktail), to bring out the wine / bread / appetizer all at the same time. Bartenders before hand were very attentive and helpful.
Silver Fox impressed with excellent food, quality service, and a rich, ambient dining environment. I would rate this a 92 out 100. Here's why.
My wife and I ordered menu items from the Dallas Restaurant Week menu. We both had the filet mignon. Her steak was ordered medium rare, mine medium. Mine was excellent, her's electrified my taste buds.
My friends ordered the Chilean sea bass, solid choice. Their boys raved about the mac n' cheese; said, "they'd never had better." Dessert was split between three items, bannas foster and two types of cakes. We all enjoyed them.
Our waiter checked on us regularly and made sure we had everything. It was a team service effort for the party of six. They treated us with respect, but gave space to enjoy the evening.
The red cabernet sauvignon was outstanding which enhanced the overall mood of the environment. Great food, service, and tasty wine. It was a great night out with my wife and friends. Highly recommended!
My husband and I thought this would be a wonderful place for a date night. After seeing all of the reviews we thought wow, this is it, the perfect restaurant. It was a terrible experience. The location was a bit loud due to TV's in the dining area and a loud guest that decided to talk between tables. I thought this was supposed to be a nice quiet romantic dining experience. The food was terrible. My husband's steak was served raw when it was delivered. Instead of the staff taking his plate to cook the steak a bit longer, they reached over and grabbed the steak off of his plate allowing the juices to spatter. I never received silverware to dine with. We had to ask the waiter multiple times for beverages and silverware. The sides we ordered were awful and not what I would expect again from the wonderful reviews. We are not a picky couple but we just couldn't sit by and not say anything. In the end, the manager spoke with us and covered the check although that was not our intention as we told him. We still gave the waiter a 15% tip of what our total bill would have been although the service was far from great. Unfortunately, we won't be back. There is a certain standard restaurants follow when serving food. The fact that they didn't take his whole plate to the kitchen and grabbed it off of his plate to take it back in front of us and did the same on the return is not very becoming of a restaurant and etiquette. Most restaurants would have taken the whole plate back, cooked the steak and then returned it with fresh hot sides that were previously plates. I would expect that for the $$$ they charge.
