Silver Fox - Grapevine Ratings and Reviews
Wait staff from water refresher to wine steward and waitress were wonderful. We come for the excellent steaks served by careful hands and with cheerful smiles. Our waitress remembered me from a prior visit. My son knows it's my favorite place to go so he and his wife gave us a gift certificate for Christmas.
First, the food was good. No quibbles there. Perhaps it was the Christmas Eve staff but, attention to detail seemed off. No one in our party noticed any ripe tomato nor spring onion on the plates per the menu description. Not a big deal as we had plenty of food and it was good but, it’s a detail thing. Also a few other minor things such as someone removed my martini glass while I was engaged in conversation. There was only a small drink left but, I am used to someone asking if I want that last drink. Good food but, certainly not Pappas or Al Biernat w.r.t. attention to detail.
To me this restaurant did not meet the level of experience I was expecting. The test was beautiful whene you walk in but was very loud. We were seated in the bar which was said because I had reservations. It was so pound you could not here nothing. After 5 minutes I asked to be moved to some were more quite. The service over all was great but the food was aweful. My brother and I had lobster bisque to start with. There was plenty of lobster but the bisque needed some seasoning. It was terrible. My brother and I had mac and cheese that also had no flavor. The Salmon also was to be blackened, it was without the pepper. I had lamb chops was good. The waitress asked how everything was and I told her it was edible but that I would not be back. Then the manager came by asking how everything was and I told him it was edible, he had no words. Next thing I know the chef came by and I told him the same thing. For some reason no one understands that edibles means it was no good the meal. Like I said I wasted $150 and I had no liquor.
Arrived about 20 minutes before our reservation for 7pm. The restaurant was not even half full. Hostess made us wait until 7 to be seated at a table that had been empty since our arrival. They did offer a complimentary round of drinks for having to wait which was weird as we didn't have a reservations until 7.
Had requested a "quiet table". Were seated at a table on edge of the main dining area that was also the main access route to the private party room where a large crowd was dining and making several trips outside to smoke. Very annoying. Overall the restaurant was very loud with another large party of about 20 seated 1 table away.
Food was average. Overpriced for the atmosphere and service. My wife and I have a habit of attracting crappy service and I had hoped this would offset our usual experience. It did not.
Bob's Steak and Chophouse or III Forks next time out.
Very disappointed in the service and the turkey dinner. Salad plates were left of the table until the dinner was served. The turkey was quite dry with very little gravy. Ordered coffee with dessert and was not served until the desserts were finished. The salmon I was told was very good and so was the beef. Have eaten at the silver fox a number of times but this time it was very disappointing especially because we had company from out of town and we had praised the restaurant.
The Silver Fox in Grapevine is in a very understated building compared to the more updated and swanky restaurants around it, but the personal, highly professional service and outstanding food keeps us coming back again and again. It's a great dining experience with special touches in an intimate atmosphere where conversation is not lost to background noise. We especially appreciated the bartender who was very friendly and kind enough to surprise our party with a festive after dinner cocktail. Great for a romantic dinner or group occasion.
We went for our anniversary and were less than impressed. The service was excellent but quality for the price was below expectations. The salad was great, the wine list was impressive and I really enjoyed my sea bass with truffle Mac & cheese. My husband ordered a medium rare filet that came out way too rare & was taken back to the kitchen. The chef brought it back out and it still wasn’t correct. As he went to take it back again, he dropped half of it and so he started a brand new steak (which also came out rare). The positive - they did everything from a service standpoint to make it right and didn’t charge for the steak. The downside is that for a steakhouse, a filet is something that should be a home run every time.
Unimpressive. Over priced for the quality. My wife ordered the fillet mignon which was ok but the chef cannot prepare seafood at all. We ordered the tuna tartare appetizer and it was badly prepared with strings of connecting fat and not chopped through. I ordered the seared scallop dinner and the scallops were way over cooked to the point of having a very rubbery texture (chewing gum) There are so many better choices for that price point in that area.
Went for anniversary dinner and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. The Bartender made us a couple of great pre-meal drinks that were very generous. The hostess was awesome, allowing us to take some time in the bar before being seated. Our server was great as well. She knew the menu well and was very attentive, but not too much. The food was great as well, generous portions and very tasty. Overall we had a great experience. We would definitely recommend and go again.
I felt that the service was excellent. The food was decent but absolutely not worth the amount charged. A $45 filet tends to have a little more attached to it, meaning high end restaurant, upscale atmosphere, etc. I feel like while the restaurant was good it was overpriced for what it was.
Awesome as always.
This is a best value in high end Dallas Steakhouses. In addition to a top flight prime steak you get hearty sides and tomatos and scallions with every meal. The bone in filet is my favorite.
In addition to a great ambiance you can easily carry on conversations with your table mates.
