Silver Fountain Inn & Tea Parlor Ratings and Reviews
This very special Inn has such history and beautiful architecture, and Pam especially caters to us “gluten free” diners. You can also peek into available rooms at the Inn, to see how wonderfully they have been restored! A great value amd the Themed dinners are a very special evening!!
My Mum, College Freshman daughter and I booked a table for tea. It was a Friday at 12:30pm and we had the dining room to ourselves until a pair of friends walked in.
The setting was glorious with the original woodwork etc...still intact and in very good shape. Note: we were welcome to walk around and explore the house, which we happily did! Well worth the visit alone.
We ordered The Duchess...a three tiered presentation of sandwiches, scones and sweets. The Duchess came with a large pot of tea each, but the tea selection was huge making one single choice impossible. Happily we were able to get two small pots each and choise two different types a piece. I highly recommend the Pomegranate Clove. Perfect.
The sandwiches were yummy and satusfied all three if our tastes. The scones were cinnamon and served with clotted cream and lemon curd. And the sweets were eaten quickly by the youngest of us, with the remainder brought home in the offered pretty pink boxes.
This isn’t an inexpensive endeavor, but the entire experience is worth every penny. Wear something just a bit special, bring the perfect person (or people) and be certain not to have a rigid schedule so that you can enjoy the tea, the food and the company to the fullest!
I always enjoy the Silver Fountain Inn. It's a great place to have lunch or tea with a girlfriend or to mark a special occasion. This time we both had quiche and a lovely salad with small asparagus and hazelnuts. Both were delicious and left us room for a "sampler" dessert which had 4 yummy small cakes. With our tea, it was a cozy, relaxed afternoon where we could chat away to our hearts' content.
My two sisters and I enjoyed an informal high tea in a pretty Victorian environment. The sandwiches, scones and mini dessert items were very tasty and filling. Popular mini series music, in the Downton Abbey genre, played in the background, adding to the relaxing and comfortable ambience. Our experience was a little like stepping back in time and retreating from the noise and hustle and bustle of the world outside. We look forward to our next visit!
Beautiful Victorian home built in 1800's and now a bed and breakfast inn and tea house in an area of other similar homes. We had a delicious lunch, opting for the Duchess high tea for the full experience. Hugh selection of teas. Service was excellent and you can explore the inn when done.
The antique house is very unique and was perfect for a tea parlor setting. The food however was terrible, especially for the price. I ordered the Duchess. The croissants were stale, the bread of the tea sandwiches were nothing special and the pastries were old. I felt like I was eating leftovers. The only good part was the tea and the scone I was served which was obviously made that day. Too bad I though I found a good spot for my daughter and I for a Christmas treat.
The Silver Fountain is my favorite tea parlor and I happily bring friends and family with me there!
When I was there on Monday, a friend had to cancel so I texted my son's fiancee just in case - she was free and we had a wonderful time!!
We were visiting in Exeter NH and had happened on this tea venue earlier in the month. Decided we should also go for a leisurely fun break while packing to go back home to Midwest. Since it was Nov 1, we got to try a new menu. Equally enjoyable as our first time. The pumpkin Struesel cake was the top fave.
Wow! What a great place to have tea! My daughter wanted to go to tea for her Birthday. I picked the Silver Fountain Inn off the internet mainly because it was close. We all ordered the Duchess and were blown away! Great venue, great food, wonderful china, and a good hostess,
My daughter, who frequently has tea back home in Texas, said that this was the best tea that she ever attended. I would highly recommend this Tea Parlor.
Went here for an afternoon lunch date with my boyfriend, we had a great time! The grounds and the building itself are absolutely beautiful. The inside is splededly decorated and really puts you in the Victorian era. So many teas to choose from as well as an excellent wine list. The food was delicious and tastefully presented. Very quiet, light atmosphere with music playing. I recommend this for romantic dates as well as fun lighthearted lunch dates with friends or family! Staff is very friendly as well, please check it out!
I and my cousins stayed here for the weekend. Great accommodations, food, service and ambiance. Would highly recommend. Pam & Jim are awesome hosts w/a great knowledge of the beautiful home that is theirs. The food and tea is delectably delicious! Thanks for sharing it!
I took my 87 year old mother and my childhood friend of over 50 years to lunch at the Silver Fountain. We all love tea so this was right up our alley. Decor is like stepping back in time. Food was delicious and tea was piping hot! Innkeeper was delightful and allowed us to visit some of the unoccupied rooms. My Mom now wants to bring her 2 sisters back for a stay! We lingered on the rocking chars on the porch since it was such a delightful day ...I don't think any of us wanted the afternoon to end!
We adore Silver Fountain Inn & Tea Parlor. I was able to spend cherished time with my 13 year-old daughter and 62 year-old mother. We are truly blessed to have such a memory of 'tea time' and the rooms are gorgeous and quiet too. Pam is fantastic. The Inn & Parlor is a true gem. ❤️
Our experience was amazing. I made a reservation and then called with a request for my sister's birthday which Kelly accommodated beautifully. The atmosphere is stunning and food was incredibly delicious . The tea selection was such a fun part of the experience. Thank you to Kelly for such a memorable experience :)
Quaint and quiet! Boasts historical charm of yesteryear!
My first thought upon entering the Tea Room was wondering why there was a vase full of artificial flowers in the summertime. Our table had fresh yet wilted flowers. Afternoon tea was great although not filling enough for a lunch. My husband and I thought it should have been included in the cost of the stay since most B & Bs have an afternoon tea or wine and cheese.
I'm REALLY picky about sheets and would have preferred highest thread count in Egyptian cotton sheets. Sheets on bed were beautiful but did not breathe well at all. The quality of pillows and cases were average. It was hours until the somewhat noisy air conditioning cooled off the room. Fresh flowers or a small bowl of candies would have added a special touch to the room which needed a little something extra. The art on the wall was not antique but for sale and painted by a local artist as a poor replica painting to its original. There were plenty of wines for sale (four bottles) in the room as well.
Breakfast was homemade to perfection but again, the limited amount of the serving size and not offered seconds or a second cup of coffee was disappointing. It was awkward to walk through the tea room side door to get to the parking lot since the front door did not have access to the lot.
In summary, The Silver Fountain Inn is a charming place to stay but did not exceed my bedding comfort expectations (which was most important to me) The historic Inn did not provide those little special extras to qualify as an exceptional stay for a Friday night which was over $200 for our room.
My Friend and I were delighted and our expectations were met.
Kelly, our server was awesome, so welcoming, conversational, upbeat and very attentive to us and ALL the guests there last Monday afternoon.
She is very friendly , capable, and able to multi task with the best.
The ambiance was perfect. The landscaping as well. It was a rainy day so we did not go into the gardens but I look forward to that . My only comment is tables are close in the parlor so overhearing others conversations is a little to easy. However, that is a minor issue!
Loved our time and our salad, wrap and teas!
