Wisconsin Ave. is extremely busy and creates quite a noisy atmosphere. It’s a toss up in pandemic times about whether to be outside and endure noisy background or enter Silver and risk coronavirus spread.
Our server was a wonderful professional and took very good care of us.
So nice to be able to eat outdoors. Excellent $10 Express lunch. No problem sitting and talking. Very helpful waitstaff. Lovely to remember the days before covid19.
Good, safe, outdoor dining with a pleasing menu! There was something for everyone at our Silver brunch - from vegan to bacon. The heat lamps removed the chill from the air and we could concentrate on our meal and quality time with friends. Tables were spaced appropriately and servers seemed observant of appropriate pandemic protocols. We'll be back!
We are return customers despite the repeated billing errors.
A mushroom omelet without mushrooms, coffee brought only after a 15 minute wait and request, a wait staff too frightened to do more than drop the serving and flee the table. Your staff made us feel like lepers.
Dined here for brunch with friends on a Saturday before visiting the National Cathedral. Silver has a menu that makes you say Wow! You’ll see 20 dishes you want to order, but have to narrow it down to one.
I chose the Short Rib Scrambler, my dining companions the Banana Split Parfait and Western Omelet. The parfait got high marks as you’d expect from a breakfast with “banana split” in the name. Lot’s of fresh squeezed juice choices, the What’s Up Doc blends carrot, ginger, apple and orange and received two thumbs up. My Short Rib Scrambler was tasty, but the short rib seemed more like chopped lean brisket than the tender braised beef that comes to mind. And the dish suffered from being served at room temperature.
We were greeted warmly and the service started off well up to the point where our order was taken, but our original server disappeared and service was spotty after that. Getting condiments to accompany our meal proved challenging.
The uneven service aside, there are enough creative and interesting menu choices to lure an adventurous diner back to Silver. Food was a solid 4 stars.
The atmosphere was really nice we asked if we could sit outside next to heater where other ppl were sitting the server informed us the heater isn't working but when we left it was on and working. It was our first time there and I asked the server for suggestions she recommended the chicken wings for an app and she informed us that she gets them well done so I asked for mine to be the same. They were undercooked along with rib entree my husband ordered. My job as a director of food and beverage and have opened restaurants I dont complain but when the server asked how was the food we hesitated but she said comments will help. Next we were met by the manager and we told her and she asked us do we want the same entree made better we said no we were ok she then said well free dessert for us. We said its not necessary but we ordered dessert. We then was met by the server stating the manager said you are only allowed one dessert. I was a little offended I then let the server know I can pay for all the desserts we are not complaining to get anything free. I will not return the food was not good but more the service from the hostess that sat us and the manager. I would only return due to our server.
Consistently good! You get what is expected.
The food was good, but our server was exceptionally nice and thoughtful.
Nadine was a good server. Food good generally. Grits need to be done better Grit Cakes are not grits.
The food was delicious and our server was friendly and efficient. This is my "go to" place when I need comfort.
Eating on Wisconsin Ave., with all the noise of the traffic, particularly the heavy trucks, is less than ideal.
Sat and waited for, not an exaggeration, 20 minutes before server came. Took appx 10 minutes to get a coffee refill. Food was very good, enjoyable patio, reasonable prices, subpar service.
I’ve passed by Silver a lot but finally went after receiving a coupon in the mail. The food was delicious, the outdoor seating was nice, and the service was great! Excited to go back!
All good but the eggs Benedict and the obnoxious music piped too loudly outside so that my friend and I had difficulty talking over it.
The Silver is consistently a first-class experience with a wonderfully healthy and varied menu. Even in arduous times like now, they make going out safe, sound, relaxing Amadeus delicious.
A nice experience. We planned to sit outdoors but with the rain, we sat inside. Server was professional and courteous . Crab soup was outstanding. I would recommend this location and I would visit again.
It remains a neighborhood gem, even in a CoVid world. Outdoor tables are widely spaced, all staff is masked, and customers are asked to queue outside at six-foot intervals. The menu is still replete with delicious, Americanized bistro items, just like the ones I wish my mother had actually cooked. The sautéed scallops are one of my all-time favorites, while my friend liked the cod served on a cauliflower mash.
Despite reserving table through Open Table from the restaurant week page, the restaurant did not honor restaurant week promotion. The restaurant's own website had the last day of restaurant week as 8/30/20. After advising us they were not honoring, the waitress wanted to take our order and was visibly annoyed when we told her we needed time to look at the full menu (given our anticipation to order from the restaurant week menu). Service overall was not good. Tables on patio seating CLEARLY not 6 feet apart. Waitress continued to have an attitude throughout the meal. Main entrees came out soon after our appetizer. Last straw was another patron walking around with no mask that coughed as he passed our table. I know restaurant can't completely control patron behaviors, but perhaps reminding everyone when seated may have helped. Food was good.
Sat outside. Traffic noise a little louder than expected due to frequent bus/truck activity. Overall, it was OK...had to adjust conversations somewhat but still tolerable.
Fast service, easy to understand COVID precautions.
Ate at Silver for first time as part of DC Restaurant Week. Very good food items, with appetizers being perhaps most pleasant surprise. Service was consistent without being overbearing. Outdoor seating was plentiful and well-shaded. Staff did good job of following public health guidelines.
We really liked the new air purifier installed in the restaurant. We also appreciated it when one party was sat too close to us, the hostess/manager came over immediately and moved that party to another table.
My dining partner and I experienced the age old problem of the waiter disappearing as the night progressed. My friend was asked if she wanted another drink. Meanwhile I’m sitting there with an empty glass and wasn’t even acknowledged. Waiter was just awful. The food at Silver is mediocre and the menu selection is slim. The only reason we came here was for connivence.
I had a waiter with purple hair and he wasn’t very welcoming, came by once to ask if we were okay or needed anything. He seemed to have an attitude when i asked questions about the drinks on the menu. Other than that the food and seating was very nice.
Always the best choice for breakfast or brunch! Servers are pleasant and the food never misses.
Silver is one of my go to places in DC for casual high quality food and drinks. They are very consistent and the staff is warm and inviting.
It was a great brunch, the first time we'd been out in a restaurant (okay, outside) for six months.
Service was kinda slow, especially when there were only a few other folks. However, the food was great. Best chicken sandwich I have ever had.
Food and service were outstanding. Waiter was prompt, efficient and friendly. Had the french toast and it was right up there with the best I have ever had. We sat outside so road noise was a little loud but still would sit there again. This is far more than your ordinary diner. Wide variety of foods on the menu. Some traditional stuff that is done with an upscale twist and a lot of upscale stuff that sounds and looks very good. Will definitely go back.
Food was great (had the meat loaf). Service fine too. Sat outside. All in all a very good experience.
The food ranged from good to excellent. The menu choices were varied and offered many healthy options (but if you'd just like burger and fries, they're on the menu too). Service was good. The patio was well aerated and distancing was totally feasible. Overall a great restaurant to go to with family and friends.
The food was delicious, the drinks refreshing, our waitress pleasant and we got to sit outside, as we requested.
Excellent meal on the patio. Good distancing between tables. Great food and service.
It was SO good to be back inside, enjoying some of our favorite dishes AND air conditioning once again. I love the avocado toast with smoked salmon, and my husband thinks yours are the best BLT sandwiches anywhere. The big booths make social distancing easy, and we look forward to a return soon (maybe for those fabulous wasabi sliders!).
It was dank!
Based on the limitation of Covid the experience was nice and the server was very efficient
Great outdoor brunch spot and dog friendly.
Had a good system , reservation was a 10 min wait. Food was wonderful. One thing out of their control is the public walking by like homeless people randomly shouting for example.
