Excellent food at good prices. Very helpful waiter.
We got 3 orders: salmon sliders, veggie salad and a Gouda burger. Everything was tast, but the burger was noticeably over cooked and dry. We were given a complementary dessert as a result which was fair resolution
Our lunch selections were excellent: Ahi tuna poke bowl and fish taco bowl.
Service was not so good for two reasons: our only beverage was water and we had trouble getting our glasses re- filled; we had to get up and walk around to find someone to fill them.
We were seated inside but our server was responsible for several outdoor tables and was hard to flag down for water and our check when we needed them. When we did get our server's attention he took our credit card to process it before presenting the check to us: when we did see it we saw that we had been charged for an entree we had not ordered and which was several dollars more than the one ordered. The bill was corrected, but it added still more waiting time. Our impression was that more servers were needed to take adequate care of the number of people dining there.
Nice outside seating and creative lunch food. One of my go to lunch spots.
We had an outside table which affected many of the ratings given. From past experience I know that the ambience on the interior is really good, but outside a tent is a tent. The noise level was graded poorly because of the noise from the many trucks going to the construction site a couple of blocks away. However, all this being said, for outdoor dining in an area created for the pandemic I would give Silver high marks and will be back. I'm looking forward to indoor dining when it's possible.
Enjoyed the food. Ate at outside table. Enjoyed viewing passers by. Veggie hamburger was quite good as was the four- fruit pie
Every dish was outstanding--chicken pot pie, avocado toast with pistachios. Sat outside with great heaters. Service seriously lacking. We were almost standing up to flag the waiter down to pay our bill, have him come back to settle up, bring salt and pepper etc. Would have given all 4 stars if not for such a glaring shortcoming but food is beyond yummy
What a pleasure for my 2nd only meal out in over a year! Silver is local for me and I met a friend for lunch and we ate outside (although we have both been vaccinated). The main downside was the amount of street traffic noise sometimes interfered with conversation.
I was surprised to get a written menu, but also saw staff sanitizing the plastic covered pages as well. Distances between tables were adequate and a family with a screaming toddler was moved to the furthest reaches of the patio. Service was as pleasant as possible, though there was interaction with several servers.
The food was excellent. I ordered an Ahi Tuna Poke bowl and was surprised and delighted by the layering of flavors. My friend was happy with her Croque Madame. We splurged (having not eaten out for so long) and she enjoyed her Creme Caramel (I think) and my Smith Island Double Chocolate Cake was exactly as it should be.
I look forward to returning.
My friend and I have brunch at Silver every two weeks or so, because of the great value and effort staff put into keeping the restaurant clean and safe from Covid 19.
Had brunch on a Sunday. Food and ambiance were wonderful!
Another great Sunday brunch at Silver. French Toast with sausage and Cobb salad. Must say that given the caramel coating of the French toast , there is no need for additional syrup. Silver's outside tent seating works well. Wait staff still excellent. Patricia our server was wonderful. And the young manager was again very solicitous of our experience.
Great weekend brunch experience. All dishes we had were excellent and the ambiance and service were exactly what Sunday brunch needed
The menu at the Silver Diner was varied and interesting. I had the brisket scramble. It was really good. Everyone enjoyed their meals. The service was good. We had a great time.
Very respectful of covid guidelines!
We ate outside, so noise generally wasn’t an issue. Food was good. I would have been more comfortable (and I should have asked) to be seated further from other customers. Will do that next time.
The server was quite attentive and the food was well prepared. Even in this time the lunch was a pleasant affair.
Silver is becoming our go to breakfast spot on nice sunny days. The staff is great and the food is always solid.
Second week in a row to Silver for Breakfast/brunch. Their omelets are outstanding (great to see a competent short order cook who can do eggs). Western, and Salmon Omelets were both exceptional. We also tried the half Cobb salsad which was also great. What makes this place hum is their outstanding young service staff, in management, reception and table waiters/ewaitresses.
Great service and I love the menu! The ahi tuna bowl is a real winner!
Great food and awesome service! Definitely welcoming and readily available. First time having avocado toast and it was amazing!
Easy, felt very aware of safety, little pricey particularly after tipping very generously.
Went for Sunday brunch and they had great gluten free options and friendly service. Would definitely go again!
Hi Yo Silver!
This was our first time "sitting in the street" as the hostess put it. Sitting in the street can be quite stimulating, especially when a Metrobus or large truck rolls by in the curb lane - and the tent starts dancing :).
We love the staff at Silver - young, energetic and professional.
The fish and chips were quite good - but....for the price we could have had juuuuust a little more fish. The 4 berry pie for two dessert was excellent. The COMPASS coffee is very good but it must be served hot especially if you are outside "in the street"
Keep up the good work, Silver!
HH outside was wonderful!
Loved the roasted vegetable salad! Will order it again.
A quiet Monday evening, we sat inside and enjoyed the warm, inviting ambiance. A refreshing Kale salad started us off, followed by the catch of the day-a pan seared cod with lemon risotto, & the truffle bison meatloaf- both absolutely scrumptious. Ended with apple beignets a la mode. YUM!!
Service was great, all protocols in place
The brunch food was fine, but staff seemed overwhelmed. We had made a reservation, but had to stand in line outside to be seated. When we got to the stand, and said we had reserved inside, we were told to go to the stand inside to wait again. That should have been made clear from the start, either with a sign or announcement. We could have bypassed the wait line to eat outdoors. Once seated, when coffee and food came, we had no silverware, or cream, sugar and sweetener and had to snatch them from a nearby table. We have been there before with no problems. Perhaps the sunny Sunday caught them off guard.
Great food and great atmosphere!
Ate outside so it was a bit cool due to windy day, otherwise a perfect experience. Be adventurous and try the Hen in the Woods. Wonderful.
Food was excellent. The hostess was very and accommodating. The waiter was also pleasant. Ordered the shrimp and grits and the shrimps were nice and spicy. We.ate indoors and the staff wore masks and diners were seated a comfortable distance apart.
Will definitely go back.
Silver was a lovely surprise on our recent visit to DC. Not much was open and I happened upon the Silver website. Such friendly servers and yummy food (the caramel drizzle French toast with strawberries was beyond yummy! ) With dining outdoors and limited seating inside, we felt safe from the Covid demons. Silver will be a regular stop on our DC visits!
Excellent experience! Food & drinks delicious and great quality for the price in the area. We will definitely be coming back!
We are grateful to Silver Diner for staying open during a tough time...and for offering a dining option in the neighborhood. This was really the first time we'd dined out since the pandemic...so again...all-in-all...appreciate that they're trying. If you do go...don't order the fried chicken. Service was decent...and ambiance was as good as it could have been sitting on the sidewalk next to a busy street.
This has been a go-to place for outdoor COVID dining. Casual, good value, good dining on the brasserie/cafe level.
Silver is my neighborhood favorite, especially during Covid. Sitting outside is always pleasant, the service is attentive and professional, and the food is simply delicious.
Salads are a personal favorite--all of them -- but once in a while it's nice to splurge on a great hamburger, which comes with the best French fries in town.
Terrific taco and tuna ahi bowls. Respectful (during COVID) and responsive service.
Delightful spring day. Would have actually been warmer if the easily assembled tent(s) would be taken down.
We have been enjoying every single meal we've eaten at Silver for years now. The menu is varies, the ingredients are fresh, the staff is very attentive and friendly. We have been delighted to support this restaurant throughout the pandemic either by ordering meals to go dining outside or dining inside. We really need this restaurant in our neighborhood to be successful.
I love coming to Silver but my last experience makes me hesitant to dine there again. The waitress charged another table’s $80 check to my credit card and I have to wait a week for it to be returned. We ordered off the happy hour menu but the waitress charged us full price and when I debated the bill she argued about not saying we wanted the happy hour price. It took over 30 mins to get the check and I had to ask three times. The last time I went to the hostess and asked to pay upfront.
A great wait staff and hostess...really pleased with the service. Food is always good.
The service and food here are excellent. We each had a burger: mine with macaroni and cheese and my husband's with French fries. Both were just as we wanted them.
