Great food at fair prices.
Excellent service and meal
wonderful salad; convenient to work. nice to have such a good restaurant within walking distance
Lovely service and food. Thanks!
Was not approach by a server for 30 minutes. Ended up going to a different restaurant.
Two days later I'm still thinking of the food served. Delicious...
The cocktails are amazing. If you get a chance to try their pair Blossom try it it is delicious.
always reliable... but maybe there needs to be a few changes, specials maybe, so it doesn't get stale?
Nothing to complain about, but nothing, except the staff, to be thrilled about, either. Chicken pot p. ie was fine. Burger was nicely cooked to order (rare) but loaded with all kinds of things that kept me up much of the night. As I say, nothing bad, but nothing that makes me want to go back soon. Except the staff--they were all wonderful
OUr server, Crystal, was fantastic. Food was good. I like the menu.
Chaotic, indifferent service, tasteless cobb salad, "we don't do bread service here"
Not my best experience at Silver: waitress had an attitude, food was not served correctly and I was glad to leve.
Great brunch spot for friends and family!
I like Silver. It is not fine dining but good food in a good room with good service. Solid.
We enjoy meals at Silver on a regular basis. The food is innovative and delicious. Unlike many DC restaurants, Silver is not extremely noisy. Conversation is easy. Silver’s prices are also very reasonable and the service is excellent.
Love the food and the location. This most recent visit the service was off—but ultimately the manager made it right. The veggie huevos rancheros is my brunch go to!
Silver offers a lovely selection of creative dishes with a strong organic and vegetarian accent. The free parking at the nearby Giant garage is a huge plus in this congested neighborhood. On a rainy-sleety slow Saturday night, we found the food a bit mediocre. Service, which in general is not Silver’s strong suit, was also just under the weather.
I prefer Silver on a weekday morning, when you can easily find a quiet comfortable booth to spread out and be creative or have a great conversation at leisure. The Compass Coffee is splendid, and Silver’s breakfast cuisine does not disappoint.
Great service, good food and price point: the server was outstanding
I think the chef or cooking staff has changed
Great food, friendly staff, wonderful ambiance
Good service! Menu is creative and I appreciate some dishes that had plant based ingredients.
I had a reservation, which another party “claimed” and the restaurant still accommodated our party of six.
Staff was friendly and receptive. Food was okay. I wouldn’t pick it over the lower priced Silver Diner. Nice ambiance.
Slow service, charged incorrectly and ambiance too much like a diner at more expensive prices
It took about 30 minutes just to get drinks, and it was over an hour to get food because they were apparently out of fish, but our server basically disappeared and avoided us and never advised us of this. We then asked the manager, who was very nice and comped our drinks. The fish was cooked well, except that the breading was soggy as if the cooking oil was not hot enough. I believe the manager offered us a free dessert as well, but at that point it was so late that we just paid our bill and left. This was a Monday evening and the lace was not that busy.
This Sunday's brunch was not Silver's Best Day. Place was crowded, food service was slow, even slower when someone else gets your pan cakes :)
But overall, recommend Silver - service is normally quite quick and the staff is always pleasant.
Dishes recommended: any omelet, any pancakes; bison huevos are spicy; fried chicken sandwich is good.
They have a 10$ lunch special during the week - Tomato soup and Grilled Cheese - great taste and the price is right.
While the food is excellent, the service was extremely slow. Despite being in close proximity to the servers' station, it took forever to be served water, forever to take our order, forever to serve the food, forever to clear our table, and forever to provide the check. No inquires about appetizers or deserts. Pretty frustrating evening. And then the food was relatively cooled off as well; great taste, poor temp.
The service was great. The food was too salty.
Service was not good, we were ignored and the waiter took forever to come around our table several times. Too busy chatting with other members of the staff and checking his phone. The salads were amazing, definitely worth dealing with the bad service that day but they should improve it!
The place was buzzing, so noise level is up a bit.
The service was great, not rushing us to finish the meal. The food is consistently great.
I especially love this place is it starts serving early, you can get early breakfast and doesn't need reservation. Great for early birds!
Sometimes, you just want things to be simple. I understand that chefs like to show their creativity and I appreciate that, but sometimes you just want classics done well.
I have noticed a significant decline in the quality of Silver’s food over the past two years. I have lived in the neighborhood for about three years and have probably dined there 10 to 12 times.
The food has gone from mediocre to actually bad. Eggs were rubbery with burnt edges, guac toast had a weird unpleasant combination of toppings. potato wedges were bland etc. (My group of four was there for breakfast.)
It is so convenient to go there but I must stop. The Starbucks next door sucks be a better choice at this point.
Further, the food is across-the-board about 20 to 25% overpriced for a comparable fare in Washington DC.
A new favorite....food was good and the place was not overly crowded...we will be back!
I love the variety on the menu at this art-deco restaurant with a great vibe. I have multiple menu favorites but had the low-cal Lemon Piccata Chicken and it was delicious. Servers are usually friendly and attentive, even when this restaurant is bustling (which it often is on weekends, especially for brunch.) On a weeknight evening, when it was 40 degrees out, a family was dining on the outdoor patio in front of the outdoor fire with their children and the family dog. Inside, there was a gathering at the bar of area millennials. The restaurant has wide-demographic appeal with families, singles and date-night couples dining. Great happy hour specials and small plates as well.
Good service. Nice spot but overpriced for the quality of food received.
We weren't sure what to expect after reading many reviews: some positive, some not. We were there for an early dinner before an event at the Washington National Cathedral. Both the hostess and our server were not only cheerful and pleasant, but very efficient and helpful. My spouse had the under 600 calorie scallops dinner and was surprised by how generous and well-prepared it was. I expressed interested in the fish taco warm bowl until I saw that the fish was fried. Our server said I could have the Mahi Mahi grilled instead of fried for a small additional charge. It was delicious: warm brown rice, fresh grilled fish, avocado, salsa, veggies, etc. All in all, we enjoyed satisfying, healthy meals at a very reasonable price.
We enjoyed a fish entree and the chicken lemon dish; both were delicious. Even though we arrived at the change of shift, the service was smooth and attentive. We've been to this restaurant twice now and will definitely return for more meals. It has a friendly neighborhood vibe.
Very bad service. 3 different servers, none of whom took ownership of our table. Then the restaurant had the nerve to mark us as no shows on open table. This after poor service we didn’t complain about and $100 spent and being on time for our reservation. A very poor showing for Silver. We will think twice about returning.
Dependably good, but could be lots better. Omelet with smoked salmon was ok, but not too flavorful and a little skimpy. Service was decent and friendly, but no longer waits than necessary to order and get check. Despite making a reservation, I was again seated near the waitstaff station, which is noisy and unappealing to look at. Better experience when sitting in one of the booths upfront.
Love how you've transformed the notion of "diner." Food was pretty good although my oatmeal was not hot. Menu is interesting and fun. Will come again.
