   When you first enter Silures, it feels like an elevated pub but lo and behold, you will soon be transported to a fantastic, mouthwatering and well curated dining experience when you ascend the stairs. Never one to shy away from an expensive menu, I did find some of the entrées to be a bit overpriced. Having said that, we thoroughly enjoyed everything about the meal, including the soft lighting and intimate decor on the first floor. I highly recommend this restaurant when in Cardiff.

   Food was excellent but wait times were excessive. Our table was next to a toilet that opened directly into the dining area, which doesn't seem ideal.

   The restaurant itself has a lovely ambiance with a good vibe, and the staff were friendly, polite, and attentive throughout the evening. Service was efficient and welcoming. However, for the price point and style of dining, the overall offering felt quite limited. At this level, you’d typically expect extras such as amuse-bouches or small tasting plates to elevate the experience and provide better value for money. I started with the poached salmon, which unfortunately arrived lukewarm and lacked flavour aside from a small, well-seasoned portion of the fish. It felt underwhelming. For my main, I had the lamb with a side of large-cut chips. This dish was much better—flavourful and well-cooked. That said, the main reason for my low rating is that I became very unwell a few hours after dining. Something from the meal clearly didn’t agree with me, and while I can't say definitively what it was, the experience has understandably left a negative impression. Even before falling ill, I wasn’t especially eager to return—but that sealed it for me.

   Went with the wife for a treat, ambience and service was nice and classy. Do feel that what I have paid for did not represent the price. £38 for a filet on its own with no side was a bit of a shocker. Fillet was okay quality but not worth for the price of that alone. Had to order chips for £6 to make sure I didn’t leave hungry. Nibbles of olives and sourdough with olive oil were nice especially the sourdough. Wife had risotto with black truffle which she liked a lot, but we both concluded that we won’t go again due to price. All above with a coke and a small bottle of water came up to £107.

   The Silures dining experience is totally exceptional with delicious, memorable food, fine wines and creative cocktails all delivered in a romantic setting with attentive service. Thank you Freddie for serving us with smiles and style throughout the evening. Highly recommended.

   Sunday lunch at Silures. Delicious food, excellent wine and impeccable service. Will definitely be returning very soon.

   Not as good as last time. We were there in Oct 2024 and it was great then. This time the service was not the same, waiter did not want to be there. Food was nice but the service and the waiter let us down. And it's not cheap there

    First time for us at Silures. Superb food - Sunday lunch was delicious - the best we've had in a long long time, We will definitely be returning
