About Siena Tavern
A polished and energetic restaurant with Italian and Mediterranean cuisine curated by DineAmic Group's Chef/Partner, Fabio Viviani, also commonly known for his Celebrity Chef accolade as Bravo's "Top Chef Fan Favorite." The décor reflects a hybrid of a rustic Italian market, a fine dining restaurant and a modern, industrial tavern, bridging old world comfort and hospitality with a contemporary menu and design. When setting foot into this 10,000-square-foot eatery for lunch, dinner, late night cocktails or weekend brunch, you can expect to taste the same "from-scratch" Italian cooking fundamentals in pastas, pizzas, mozzarellas, gelato and everything between.

Siena Tavern Ratings and Reviews
Changed our reservation to a later time in the evening so it was quieter than normal. Food was very good. Different options from other establishments of its kind. Worth trying the ciccoli for sure! Service is attentive but not intrusive. We will definitely return again.
We enjoyed a very wonderful brunch at Siena Tavern. Juan, our server was very informative and helpful in our making our menu choices. The food was well prepared and extremely delicious. We lingered over coffee and dessert as this restaurant is a very comfortable place to enjoy a meal or a drink. My friend enjoyed her own custom-made omelet while I was very happy to enjoy the eggs benedict which in this case was made with crispy Mortadella and a pesto Hollandaise. The dessert was a very interesting caramel confection with walnuts and spun sugar along with some incredible coffee. I return again and again to Siena Tavern as they never disappoint. Service is always friendly and the food is always very good.
I had been to Siena Tavern once before and would have given it 5 stars across the board which is why I came back but this time was not as impressive. My turkey club was good but the fries were awful. My boyfriend had the lasagna and he said it was a little “gamy”. However the special Valentine’s Day dessert was beyond delicious... I would have licked the plate clean if I wasn’t in public. I’ll go back again but stick with the spaghetti dish I had the first time. Cocktails were great as well!
Every item on the menu looked so well thought out, that I couldn't decide what to eat! The octopus, hamache, short rib ravioli and Margherita pizza, were all very delicious. The pistachio gelato was pure heaven! Adding the fresh shredded truffles is a must. I can't wait to go back to try more dishes. Molto bene Chef Fabio!
Occasion: A postponed holiday dinner for staff:
First time dining here; it was a crowded Thursday evening 6:15 reservation. Seated promptly our server Natalie greeted us and was very pleasant. She had suggested the Chicago Restaurant Week prefix dinner special, which was in its last days. My four guests opted for the CRW menu as several options were also listed on their standard menu.
First course: Coccoli - crispy dough, stracchino cheese, prosciutto di parma, truffle honey $17 / 5 orders
After one bite, all dining pushed this aside. The dough was limp and rubbery; the overall flavors were bland and lackluster. Very disappointed with this dish.
Main course: Brick Chicken Diavolo - sticky parmesan potatoes, arugula, cherry tomato, grilled lemon 29
Pappardelle sauce bolognese, grated parmesan 19
Four diners had the chicken and one order of Pappardelle in Bolognese sauce.
The collective opinion on the chicken: tasty and well seasoned. Though two of the four portions had large amounts of fat. All agreed the potatoes were over saturated in oil. This also diluted the sticky Parmesan. and rendered them somewhat inedible. The arugula and cherry tomatoes were fresh and the dressing was bright and flavorful.
Only one bite of the Pappardelle. It was over cooked, water logged and luke warm. The bolognese sauce was diluted and bland; no Parmesan was detected in the dish or offered on the side. It was returned to the kitchen.
The dessert courses were a basic fare that tasted fine, but nothing special.
The general manager did stop at our table to offer his apology for the returned entree. Though I half expected (as you might with any good restaurant) something to be comped on the bill, this was not the case.
I’ve lived and dined in Chicago for over 30 years and I certainly understand a restaurant having an off night, but as a first time diner at Siena Tavern, I’m sorry to say there’s little reason for a positive recommendation or return visit.
This is absolutely my favorite restaurant which is why i am sorry to say the service was not good this visit. 1 valet for lunch rush during restaurant week- had to wait 15 minutes to have my car parked and another 10 to retrieve it after lunch. Hostess did NOT care (told her more than once) and server should've offered to take valet ticket to get car promptly. for $15 that should not happen. Won't stop me going back, but very disappointing.
This was a great dinner! The food was delicious and so was the wine. The restaurant is pretty lively and it was very loud near the bar but we were seated at the opposite end of the restaurant which is not so noisy and it was very nice to be able to talk and enjoy a delicious dinner. The salmon was so excellent; I saved some of the lentils and carrots that came with it to take home because it was so good!
We enjoyed everything we ate. My husband had a pizza, which I also shared. It was very tasty. My son and I had two of the specials with truffles, the lobster risotto and the tagliatelle. Both were plentiful and delicious. Our only complaint was the service. We ate early, so the place was not very busy. It was at least 10 minutes before the waiter came to take our drink order. He had to come back again to confirm what we had ordered. It was a while before our drinks came and then again a while before our order for main food was taken. We enjoyed our evening and the food but the service was really lacking.
I have been wanting to try Siena Tavern since it opened. Finally had an opportunity to go with my husband and adult children. We went for brunch. Plenty of food on the plate. Shared the Monkey Bread, which I would go back just for that again! Most of us had some type of egg dish, ie. omelet, eggs benedict, etc. Plenty of food. Of course, drinks were too expensive. $14 for a Bloody Mary. Are they squeezing the tomatoes themselves? :)
We used an OpenTable coupon and discovered a wonderful new restaurant with the best beef tartare, excellent osso buco with long marrow bones and a special spoon to scoop out the luscious marrow, and the delightful waitress treated us to complimentary chocolate/pistachio gelato desserts because it was out first time there. They make their gelatos in-house.
We had a wonderful evening at Siena. Excellent, attentive service, and all the food and drinks were outstanding. Loved the varied selection on the menu. Although everyone's meals were excellent, the Brick Chicken was the best plate on the table. Delicious! Desserts are playful and a fun way to end the evening. Good location if you're catching a show at the Chicago theatre. I'm sure we'll be back!
