Food was good. Lamb chops came out too well done and they redid them and gave us some free antipasti. However, even when the lamb chops were redone there were small bones that interferes with eating them. Desserts were all delicious and service was great. Restaurant was a bit loud, especially for a week night. Overall, would consider going back but was a bit disappointed.
Great Food, Great Flavors
It had been years since I'd been to Siena Tavern, and I'm happy to say it's as perfect an experience today as it was back then. The kale Caeser salad is perfection, the octopus amazing (what is that sauce?!) and the chocolate gelato cake with fudge was to die for.
Over priced for the portion sizes. Quality and taste of food was good, but not necessarily worth the money. For example, a few chunks of watermelon with sauce on top costs $15...and a meatball the size of a tennis ball costs $21. I wouldn't go back.
Delicious food! Upbeat atmosphere. Prompt service and seating with our reservation!
The Gnocchi is always on point here as are most of the food items. Drinks are overpriced though- $20 for a Manhattan?
It was amazing! At first me and my family were skeptical but as soon as the waiter came out we all started being more sure of ourselves. I think his name was Justin. He knew what he was talking about and made even the unappealing items on the menu sound delicious! Also, the restaurant is so neat and makes you feel first class when they change plates after each course. Definitely going to return!
We loved our impromptu lunch choice. Our server was passionate about the food and the menu. The food was great. The ambiance was great for a lunch with girlfriends. I will also be back with my boyfriend in the near future.
Nothing special about this over-priced menu. The chicken sandwich was hard to eat - chicken breast way too thick for the bun. Fries were ok but not as good as other places that serve that variety. Needed thicker grated parm and more sageto give fries some zip. Brussels sprouts dish I would recommend.
Music was way too loud for outside seating.
Always fantastic! Monkey bread was awesome!
The food and service were both very good. The decor is first rate but all the hard surfaces and fairly loud music make it a little tough to have simple dinner conversation. That being said, it was 10pm on a Friday night so the noise level was more expected.
The food is very good, we have been there several times and never been disappointed. The service is excellent, always. The two main problems are the stupidly overpriced wine list and the noise level. My wife and I were celebrating an anniversary and could hardly hear each other, and this was in the dining room area. The wine list is so ridiculously overpriced, even more than most restaurants, so we did not even get wine, and we usually get a bottle (at least) every meal.
Fun and good food
We had a fantastic dinner At Siena Tavern. I was on a girls trip and we started with a bottle of win selected by the sommelier which was delicious! We had the octopus appetizer and they 3 girls got the seafood pasta and I had the brick oven chicken- everyone was satisfied. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. There is definitely a good bar scene as well. I would definitely go back!
Simply amazing on all levels. Michilin quality food and service in a relaxed and casual setting. A must for both locals and out of town guests.
Our server was very knowledgeable of menu items and made some excellent recommendations. The squid ink pasta with lobster tail is a definite must! Great upscale but not pretentious atmosphere with top notch service.
My friend and I met here for dinner after work and had an excellent experience! Our waitress - I believe her name is Melody - was phenomenal! She really put the entire experience over the top with her pleasantness, professionalism, and promptness. Super attentive, incredibly knowledgeable, very accommodating with our food allergies and requests. Service aside, the food and drinks were delicious, and the ambience was chic, cozy, and vibrant. Only cons were that it was quite noisy (not totally their fault - they're a popular spot) and the section we were seated in (behind the hostess booth) was pretty tightly arranged and not the most comfortable as a result. But honestly, my friend and I had such a great time together and were treated so well by the staff that these issues barely detracted from the overall experience. I would highly recommend Siena Tavern to others, and will definitely be back (and will request to be seated in a different area, if possible).
I've been wanting to try Siena Tavern for years but I've always put it off. I live in West Town so there's a lot of family owned Italian restaurants in the area and I figured there's no need to travel downtown for quality Italian food.
I was able to get a last minute reservation on a Monday night and I was so happy I decided to go through with it! The food was incredible! My boyfriend and I shared a pasta, the ribeye and a side of brussel sprouts and it was the perfect amount of food at a reasonable price. The ambiance was lively for a Monday night.. a lot of business professionals. Now that I've finally tried this place, I will be returning often!
Our server was amazing! Fun lively atmosphere. Delicious waygu meatball, Burrata & puff pastry appetizers. Main dishes included salmon & gnocci. Desserts included monkey bread & gelato.
Brunch was great! A must have is the monkey bread! All the food was very good and our server was knowledgeable. I am looking forward to going back for dinner.
Not your everyday menu! Delicious creations, beautiful space, and outstanding service!
Love the food here and it is one of my favorite places in Chicago, but was disappointed this time with the host staff who took our check in and said they'd text us, but 30mins later we were still waiting. I only go a table when I left the bar waiting area and went back to the desk and they were able to quickly seat us. Pretty sure they had somehow forgotten about us.
The waiter, servers and bar staff were all excellent, so it was a real let down for the team by the hosts.
Very good overall! Food was excellent. Service was great! But real noisy!
My wife and I dined at Sienna for the first time this evening. She ordered Halibut and I ordered the Brick Chicken. We also tried the pistachio gelato. All I can say is wow. I’m not sure why we’ve never tried this restaurant but I can say that we’ll be back. We were provided Outstanding service by Juan R. If you’re reading this review make a reservation. You won’t regret it. Oh, and we ordered pizza to go to eat later. I’m so glad we did ;)
What a Great Food Experience
From the welcoming the drinks and the service all top notch.
The Food was Sublime.
Thank you Franny for waiting on us and your recommendations were Spot On.
Will Be Back. A lot
This review is for the brick chicken, used to be my absolute favorite in the city. Now it's tiny despite the price going up and extremely over cooked. This review is from the last three times I've eaten here. Used to eat here almost every Thursday, due to the reduced quality, quantity and attention to detail I probably won't be back for a while.
I often visit Siena Tavern for drinks and nightlife. The other day I invited a client for lunch and it was awesome! We started late, 2pm, so it was quiet and we could talk business. The service was great and we both agreed that the food was amazing! I'll be back soon.
Very good service. There were little delays in getting our meals but they took very good care of us during the wait with an excellent service and food was excellent.
Graduation get together. Donuts for the treat. Awesome!! Plenty for all of us. And one for the road! No five star rating because the cocktails were too sweet both bourbon and vodka. I asked to have the vodka one with out the strawberry waitress explained that it was premixed. Should have been our first clue. Step up the cocktail game!
Great food! Highly recommend! Good for large or small groups
Food and service were top notch. Waiter suggested a nice, moderately priced Super Tuscan that went well with our meal. Valet service could extra people on busy weekends.
The night was an absolute joy thanks to our server, Melody. She made sure we had everything we needed and more. Would definitely recommend.
Delicious food in a fun setting. Our first stop after arriving in Chicago - did not disappoint.
Usually have lunch here but stopped in for an early dinner. Always a good experience ... dinner prices are quite a bit higher than lunch. Lots of after work drinkers in the bar area, but pleasant level of noise.
I had an amazing time celebrating my birthday at Siena Tavern. The waitress we had was amazing at recommending good food choices and the food was delicious. I will definitely be back there.
I would not eat here again. We had a lovely waitress who recommended an interesting, although doughy, appetizer to us. I think it was called coccoli. It was deep fried hollow balls of dough with goat cheese , prosciutto and honey. This was quite tasty, but the rest of the meal disappointed. We ordered roasted halibut and some carmelized Brussel sprouts. The halibut itself was nicely roasted but the sauce that came with it was unappetizingly sweet and tasted vaguely of sweet almonds. It reminded me of Jergens hand cream. The Brussel sprouts were awful. There were overly burnt on the outside and underdone on the inside, hard and bitter. It is a loud restaurant that does not promote conversation with dining companions.
I love this place! They are soy free which is a huge plus for me. The watermelon appetizer is life changing, it is that good.
I wanted to like it because I was taking out my niece for her birthday. It was packed and very loud at 12:15pm for lunch. We ordered a Siena salad and Artichoke pizza to split. The salad was very average. Iceberg lettuce, very small and the toppings were ok, nothing special and it was very expensive. The pizza was quite good, decent size and while pricey, didn’t seem overpriced for the quality and quantity. Service was good. End result was mixed.
I recommend the eggplant parm. It was perfectly cooked and complemented the homemade pasta and sauce.
