We had a great brunch at Siena. One of my friends is pregnant and couldn't participate in the bottomless brunch. The waiter made her a sparkling orange juice and then a sparkling strawberry juice to include her - it was very sweet.
Loved our experience. We went for the two-for-one small plates and had an amazing meal! We ordered six plates for three: mussels (great), gnocchi (fantastic), lamb chops (best ever), octopus (superb), olives (huge), carpaccio (melt in your mouth). Highly recommended.
Had an intimate dinner here and there were just a few red flags. One server working the entire floor is not enough (maybe manager should jump in and take tables if its a labor thing). Therefore, waiting long periods of time to get an additional drink or a clean napkin is a result of not properly being staffed. Tables are not reset between courses nor is the table crumbed. My dinner came out cold and pasta tasted frozen I ordered the (Potato Gnocchi Braised Short Rib Ragu). When the mains came out busser's noticed dirty dishes still on the table and empty wine glasses then removed it. Empty wine glasses should be refilled or removed immediately. Also, did not have table settings to eat my dinner with when my mains arrived. Just needs management, leadership and steps of service put in place.
We arrived one hour into the lobster special night, yet they were out of lobster. the server told us the seafood fra diavolo was a little spicy, it was very spicy (and i like spicy). The check was incorrect. We have been to Siena before and like it, but this was not a great experience.
Great neighbourhood restaurant. Everything superb except the noise level can get pretty high and you find yourself shouting to be heard by your table mates.
We’ve been coming here since it opened and the food is always delicious! The Lobster Ravioli is highly recommended. I also love the risotto!
Brunch very noisy and crowded. Slow service. Ok food. If you don’t want bottomless brunch drinks, it’s not really a pleasant experience.. much much too noisy.
We have been here before and the food has always been okay for a local restaurant. But this past Saturday night, the food was excellent. There were six of us, and everyone’s food came out exactly as we had hoped.
Bad service, bad food
This was my 2nd time here for a birthday get together. Amazing service staff and vibe . I would definitely return what a joy .
Good for everyday dining
It’s a real neighborhood restaurant
Good for Dinner (Pasta, Wine, Ambiance); Skip for Brunch. 3/5 Stars.
Went @ 12PM on a Sunday; Was seated in the front by window vs dining room.
Service: Our server was either new and not trained or didn't know what was going on. We think he meant well, but was very quiet, didn't know the menu at all, couldn't recommend any dishes, told us he never tried any of the food, and didn't check on us much at all except when we were almost done eating (to refill mimosas). We had to wave him down when we needed anything.
Brunch Burger: they forgot the egg, brought it out on a plate after and we had to add it to the burger; burger was overcooked (medium well instead of medium rare); fries were cold and not salted (and we couldn't flag down our waiter post egg-delivery to ask for S&P).
Fontina Omelette: Good flavor and fillings, side of potatoes were good but wish there were more - If you order something, go for this.
Bottomless Brunch Overall: The Deal Includes: 1 Main + 1 Side, Plus Unlimited Mimosa, Rossini, Sangria, Bloody Mary Coffee & Soda for 90 Min. However, if your item on the menu already comes with potatos, salad or fries, that IS THE SIDE. Not a dealbreaker, but this should be a bit more distinct. Mimosas were pretty good
Verdict: Go if you want bottomless Mimosas for $30 but don't expect great service or the best food. I've been for Dinner 2x and had much better experiences.
Valentine’s Day - wonderful!
Valentine’s Day lunch with 3 of my sons. Service was outstanding. Food delicious. Very nice vibe. We will be back!
The servers work very hard, but the restaurant appears to be understaffed. Additionally, the manager seems clueless and never checks in with guests. The food is very good, with generous portions, at a reasonable prices. They also have some very nice wines by the glass.
Food was underwhelming and service was poor as usual at Siena.
The burrata plate and the Siena burger were amazing! Would definitely try again.
Adorable with good food, only sometimes can be loud, more so from music than people. Great local place
Staff is terrific, brunch was very good. Will definitely go back.
Enjoyable Italian dining. Food was delicious. Wednesday night was 1/2 price on bottles of wine. Service was excellent. There was pleasant music, but really loud. We asked that it be turned down a bit. They did. Our reservation was early. By the time we left it was filled up. We all agreed we'd come back.
Great find staff was so nice. Salad was just OK, but pasta and eggplant over zucchini noodles was delicious. Defiantly will go back.
Good food, good service
We had friends in town who loved the place... All 4 of us had the $29 bottomless brunch... we were not disappointed and will be back. Thanks!
Enjoyable but way too noisy!
Service was passable, but not great. Food was very good. Be prepared for a loud room. Would definitely go back. Never gave me my Open Table points.
Thankful to have this small elegant dining option in our neighborhood, where you don’t feel like your sitting with the party next to you.
Great night. We went for NYE and had a party of 8. We sat in the bar and had drinks apps and dinner. It is a festive, funky environment. The decor is both warm and intimate and at the same time fun. The food was awesome!
Great Monday night lobster special!
Great as always!
We love siena Cafe. Food is always fresh and tasty. Love their cocktails too! They have amazing desserts!
First of all the decor and ambience of this place is outstanding. The tables aren't crowded together like so many restaurants, it was very comfortable. They could use a little more lighting for reading the menus but nothing my cell phone didn't solve. Our waitress seemed like maybe she hadn't been working there very long. She didn't know the answer to most of my questions and didn't offer to find out. She also was a little spacey, like forgetting to bring the check after me having to request it because she was being innatentive to the fact that we had been finished for about 15 minutes. That said she was very pleasant and probably just needs training. The linguine and clams were delicious as were the calamari. My son didn't care for the lasagna (I suspect it was a little too authentic for him though) and my gnocchi with braised short rib ragu was tasty and very fresh but not my favorite. I would definitely go back for the linguine and clams though. They also made their own Sangria which initially I thought was tasty but weak but I actually felt it about 15 minutes later. I really enjoyed our Christmas dinner here. I will definitely return.
Our go to special occasion plate. Food is fresh and good of service is sometimes lackluster
Christmas - very friendly as usual! Wonderful people.
We had a mixed experience at Siena. The waitstaff were exceptional. They were knowledgeable about the menu, very efficient, made great recommendations, kept the water glasses full, and were perfectly attentive. The food ranged from just ok to very good depending on the dish. A few things the restaurant should do better. Firstly, the menu online does not match the menu in the restaurant. There were a few disappointments as dishes on the website were no longer available. While most NYC restaurants are “intimate” meaning the tables are very close together, Siena is uncomfortably so. Lastly, the wall closest to our table was dirty with drips and splashes and food stuck to it. So easy to fix with a little elbow grease if they were paying attention. So much potential for Siena and I hope they take advantage of the opportunity to go from good to great.
For the neighborhood it’s a great find.
Food is consistently good, drinks well made and fair prices.
We will continue to dine there
Food was very tasty and service excellent.
We love it and plan to return! As a West Village resident, it's good to have another option on the far Upper East Side.
