Sicilia Mia - Downtown
Can’t wait to head back to Salt Lake to experience Sicilia Mia again! Phenomenal!
We arrived at 6:20pm for our 6:30 reservation. We were going to see a show so we made sure to reserve early enough. We were not seated until 6:55. We had to order salads because we didn’t have enough time to eat a full dinner after being seated late. It was my wife’s birthday, I mentioned that in the reservation, yet no one mentioned it at the restaurant, nothing offered for my wife, etc. And after seating us 25 minutes late we weren’t even comped an appetizer or anything. Amazing salads though and the food everyone else was eating looked amazing! Hope to go back again eventually, guess we will give ourselves several hours next time even with a reservation!
This is a very nice restaurant. Food was great. Service was great. They sat us down right at our reservation time, witch was awesome. The only reason I am not giving 5 starts is because we had the worst table in the restaurant. We were sat in the back area, in the middle of the room. Waiters from the kitchen and waiters from the bar converged at out table. Seemed like there was always someone from the staff passing by.
This was the perfect Valentines Day dinner. Francesco was such an amazing and tentative server. Made us feel like we had the place to ourselves.
Absolutely perfect evening from Sicilia Mia. The food, the service, the ambience, everything was perfect. Our server was the perfect balance of attentive without being annoying. The Fritto Misto appetizer is a large, beautiful platter of deliciousness. The spaghetti carbonara is both an artful performance and a superb dish. I don’t recall the name of the other dish we had - a pasta with seafood dish listed as “mama’s favorite’, as I recall. It was also very good, but we both agreed that the carbonara was better. Trust me, try the carbonara.
The dishes here are enormous — I couldn’t imagine eating an entire entree alone, or even the fritto misto. I’m a 275 lb man, by the way, so don’t dismiss that comment as being from a petite and dainty eater.
This was our first visit to Sicilia Mia, and we’ll definitely be back. Absolutely excellent evening.
Party of 6
Nice food and service
Will go again!
The food just wasn’t as good as their main location. The carbonara was great the first time at the original location. This time it had a starter fluid aftertaste and just wasn’t as good. But we will try it again, maybe.
Best food, best service. Love them💗
The food and wine was fantastic. The service was also very good.
Very disappointed, to be honest. We have consistently gone to the 4500 south location, and were excited that they were opening one downtown.
When we got there, it was an awkward situation because there were only a couple of tables, and it felt like you couldn’t talk very loudly without everybody listening.
Our server seemed to be new, and was not helpful at all. In fact, she disappeared halfway through our meal (the girl who replaced her was much better, so we weren’t sad). When we ordered drinks, it seemed like they had no idea how to use the beautiful bar in the back.
Probably the worst part were the OVERLY inflated prices. Not sure if they thought downtown warranted higher prices, but I can assure you that those prices will drive business away. Huge disappointment all around. We will pass in the future.
Oh, one last thing... the black rubber gloves on the servers were a complete turn off. They look as though they had just been cleaning up a mess. Gross.
In love with this place...literally came just for the carbonara after seeing photos and videos on social media and it did not disappoint!!! It was mouth-watering and watching it prepared in front of us in the cheese wheel was pretty spectacular. Cocktails, appetizer, pasta and dessert were all delicious! The staff was extremely friendly and Francesco (I’m not sure if he was the head chef or the manager) came out several times between courses to check on us and wanted to make sure we enjoyed everything and if there was anything else we needed. Our waitress was amazing too. We felt so taken care of and could see that they really take pride in their restaurant. It was a phenomenal experience all around. Highly recommend this gem!!!
good food. a little pricey for many menu items. Not for the value customer
Giuseppe and company always treat you right and provide a quality dining experience. My favorite Italian in Utah!
Wonderful , family owned restaurant with excellent food , good prices.
Fun atmosphere with Italian singing with table side food preparation.
Great for prior to a theater experience.
Wonderful experience. The table side dishes are a great enhancement to delicious meals.
I took my wife out to Sicilia Mia - Downtown for her 30th birthday, and it was a hit! My wife had been dying to eat there for sometime. The food was delicious! The staff was friendly and very welcoming. My wife loved watching her carbonara spun in the parmesan-cheese wheel! The ambiance was perfect. I would recommend this place to anyone who is wanting to try something new and delicious!
This is our second visit and enjoyed it as much as the first time. Food is delicious and the staff is great!
Loved it! The Cacio de Pepe was amazing!
Still new so probably still struggling to get thing right. Have enjoyed the other locations but everything about our experience downtown was a bit lackluster.
Jessica was our server and she was awesome. Very attentative and friendly. We ordered the charcuterie board to start and it was impressive. Great selection of meat and cheese and yummy bruschetta. We ordered more bruschetta and also had a rib eye and cacio e pepe and carbonara that were made tableside. All cooked perfectly and seasoned appropriately. Dessert was fantastic as well. We had a tiramisu (best in town) and the profiteroles. Both a perfect indulgence.
Always friendly and attentive staff makes any visit memorable. Food was excellent and prepared to perfection— a true delight and worth a visit
The staff was fantastic and took care of us well. The food was so good! We'll be back for sure.
We went with our family for dinner before the basketball game. The food and service were terrific. Would recommend to anyone. We had grandchildren with us from 6 to 13 and the staff were great with them making them very welcome. Thank you
It took 45 mins for us to get us food, other couples that sat down after we were able to order, get their food and finish before our two entrees came out. Then when we are for the manager to bring us our check to discuss the issue the manager was too busy!
Everything that you love about the suburban locations can be found in the downtown location, along with some new already favorites! The food, the ambience, the incredible staff... Li amo❤️ It’s like coming home!!
Outstanding attentive service, varied menu, delicious meals. Would go back in a heartbeat.
I was very surprised at the fact that we did not care for this restaurant. We love all of their other locations. The menu was not great. It is not the same as the other Sicilia Mia. Not one single chicken option either. Seemed like they were trying to be too upscale with choices. Prices are definitely higher. Service and food are much better at other locations. I hate to say it, but we won’t be going back.
For someone who grew up eating real Italian food the restaurant is only ok. The calamari were the best I’ve had in Utah (not chewy or fishy). The carbonara pasta that they make table side is a cool experience and pretty good. They light the cheese on fire and prepare it in front of you. The traditional mama’s pasta was disappointing though. Although the noodles were homemade and really good the meat in the sauce was shredded (instead of chunks of meat that is supposed to cook in the sauce all day). I think they reused it from another day because it was over cooked and tasted OLD. The pasta just did not have a good taste at all. The bread that comes to the table was good, but was not a traditional Italian bread at all. They came by complimentary bean soup before the meal which was nice and a sorbet drink after the meal to cleanse the palette.
Christmas with family
In a word, disappointing. We have been to Scilia Mia's restaurants on Highland Dr. and 3300 South and were looking forward to the opening of the new restaurant downtown. We found the new location to be awkwardly pretentious, amateurishly decorated and the food ordinary and overpriced. The warmth and authentic feel of the other restaurants was lacking. The lamb Bolognese was more like a tomato ragu stew with a few small cubes of lamb and one small lamb riblet. Virtually no meat texture or lamb flavor in the sauce. Did I also mention the paccheri pasta was tough? The porcini ravioli had a nice sauce and was more flavorful but the pasta was too heavy and reminded me more of a frozen ravioli you would buy in a grocery store than handmade pasta. Two dishes do not make a restaurant but the cost of going back and trying other dishes at the downtown location is too steep a price to pay. We will continue to frequent the other Scilia Mia restaurants but will not be going back downtown. If we want elegant Italian dinning we will go to Valter's Osteria.
Super friendly staff. We LOVED the arancini. Would suggest one chicken dish on the entre menu. Would definitely recommend and return. A bit pricey.
The food was some of the best I’ve had. Our server wasn’t very personable, and didn’t bring us bread until we asked. Otherwise a perfect experience.
Like eating in a warehouse. Very good food but no money spent on the space - more like a pop up restaurant than a place with a lease. Will stick with the other locations.
Wonderful service, attention to detail in both service and food.
The service was horrific. We had to ask 6 times for our drink order and when it showed up 50% of the drinks were wrong. We rarely saw our waiter, Giorgio.
Really good food, service and quality.
The food and service were very good. To make the restaurant a little more romantic the lighting needs to be lower. All the alcoholic beverage pricing was extremely expensive. Much higher than their other locations.
