From the impeccable, coordinated and seamless service, to the artistic, unique, creative and fresh dishes, this restaurant delivers an experience worth the time and money. You simply won't be disappointed.
Superb in every way. One of the best dining experiences we have had in NYC. Its on the list for good.
Space was beautiful, but do not think the menu was on par with similar tiered restaurants in Manhattan. First course of king crab was hilariously small, to the point of missing out on the experience of the primary ingredient. The thing about king crab is being able to chew through a solid hunk and experience the briney goodness. Here were two 1/8” slices and some picked meat inside the rolls. It did not do the trick. Lobster course was also small for a primary fish course. The fennel purée completely overpowered the flavor of the lobster. The rib cap was amazing as was the dessert. The breads were outstanding!! Glad I went, but would not repeat.
Sublime-in a word! The only thing I was so annoyed about was that the breads were so delicious-I ate every piece of the various unique breads that were served while trying to behave on my diet. It has been a long time since I enjoyed a meal like this one. Everyone was very polite w service and all the courses were delicious. In truth I took my main dish home in a doggy bag because I was already too full but my guests who ate half the portion of it (duck) said i was very good. I asked the server to "surprise" me because I just hate choosing from so many good options. I will definitely be back soon (like this eve) to their sister restaurant downstairs Le Jardinier which I have been too as well before, which is also outstanding. In my opinion, Le Jardinier is very a great dinner. Shun is for a extra special occasion or extra special client. What a great addition to the dining scene!
Elegant and fun
Four course meal is fun and satisfying. We like this place as the sauce is not overly oily nor salty. Would revisit for sure.
Excellent fine dining in Midtown East. Well executed food with luxurious ingredients (scallops, uni, lobster, wagyu beef). Loved the modern minimalist decor. Friendly, informative and attentive staff.
We were the first table of that day, the waiters were patient and not of us got 4 course seasonal menu. I will definitely try the tasting menu next time! It was a wonderful experience.
Solid if creatively underwhelming. Everything was quite well executed, but the purported Japanese notes were few and far between. Uni & Fennel was lovely, but aside from that most of the meal felt like standard modern French cuisine for the most part. Where was the soy, miso, sansho, tea?
It was all fine though for the price (very high - the four course prix fixe is the same price as Le Bernardin) I’d rather spend it on something with a bit more character. I’m not really sensing what this chef’s culinary voice is. It’s like seeing a musician with masterful technique leading a cover band. But paying Rolling Stones prices for the tickets.
Mind you, it could just be the particular dishes we ordered. I feel like having a la carte options would make for a much better way to go about the meal. Seems like most of the more “interesting” stuff was hiding among the appetizers, and personally I’d gladly go in and order half a dozen of them a la carte. Locked into a prix fixe, less inclined.
Staff are lovely. Nice room, especially the bar.
One of the best high end dining experiences in year. No detail was overlook to provide a superlative experience across the food, wine and service
Elegent, polished dining room with great dinner lighting and well spaced, comfortable tables. Very attentive service but perhaps a bit too much "how is everything". First courses were a mixed bag: matsutake OK, not great; red mullet outstanding. Mains: Waygu ribcap and cote de veau were both superb. Dessert good but not memorable. Wine list is broad and interesting but pricy with little below $100. Great experience. Expensive.
Truly fantastic meal!
The service was great and the food was amazing. It was very fresh and well presented. The chef came out to greet each table. The weirdest was one guest table were making out like no one else was there. It was the only thing that felt odd during the night. The restaurant cannot really do anything about it I guess. Other than that we had a great experience.
It is a beautiful restaurant. The ambiance is very relaxing. Even though pricey the food was very unique and very good. I thought maybe the portions would be small because of style of menu, The however, they were a nice size. The lobster, duck and beef were excellent. The deserts were very artistic and very good.
Very nice experience.
We had a prefix 4-course dinner, and because it was four of us, we practically tried all the menu.
The taste and presentation were perfect. The ambiance was lovely, except for the music that is not necessary in such a stylish place.
Service was was friendly but needs to be more polished. An overall memorable experience.
Shun is perhaps the finest restaurant in NYC today! Being new to the scene, those lucky enough to discover it, will have an unparalleled dining experience.
Wonderful dining experience. Service was perfect, as I would have expected. We were interested in adding a course and switching another and there was no hesitation. Dining room was beautiful. Was a very special evening. Kudos to Alain for creating an incredible restaurant!
Exclusively for the fine dining crowd who don’t mind paying the price for an exquisite experience. Our dining experience was beyond very good
This is the place where NOTHING went wrong.
More power to you, Shun!!!
Beautiful decor, attentive staff attuned to the needs of each table, scrumptious food, and Chef Alain made this birthday dinner a memorable experience. Bravo to everyone at Shun.
It was an amazing experience. I booked this for my husband's 40th birthday and it exceeded my expectations in every way. I had called to let them know of the birthday and the chef wrote a personal note on his menu. The service was top notch, the food was top notch. I actually ate a bite of the wagyu beef after 6 years of being pescetarian after my husband proclaimed it the best steak he's ever had, and it was! All in all it was a perfect evening.
Savory course are very good. Presentation of the Deserts are good, not outstanding given the price!
Loved dinning at Shun. Would recommend to my friends! Great experience!
Probably the best new restaurant we've been to in New York.....ever.
Food is spectacularly beautiful and delicious.
Figure $500/couple all in and worth it.
On the level of Le Bernardin
Great restaurant for special occaison. Highly recommend.
Best restaurant I've been to in many years. We're talking Iron Chef quality. The food presentation was exceptionally creative coupled with the outstanding taste of every dish. Attentive friendly service is unmatched in the hospitality industry. It doesn't get any better than Shun.
Fantastic. Best restaurant in ages
Sedulous and elegant, a memorable meal. The chef has definitely displayed his years of experience through the blend of technique and cuisine he has put together. I am already excited to go back. It’s a place you completely indulge yourself in.
The bar was set very high. My wife and I had just previously dined three nights in a row at Michelin starred restaurants in NYC. This was the best and one of the top 5 dining experiences of my life. 5-star service and food. Delicious art. The Chilled Corn Veloute, Sudachi Stone and Chocolate Forrest are all must haves. The cod with caviar cream sauce was too heavy for my tastes.
We will hear a lot of good things about Shun!!!! Amazing feast!
The restaurant & bar are lovely, food wonderful, beautifully served, the chef came out of the open kitchen to chat w/ us. We’re going back in a few weeks.
AMAZING!! Highly recommended for a special occasion
Dining experience EXTRAORDINAIRE. The presentation of the dishes were all art forms - especially the desserts. Equally, if not more importantly, everything was delicious and the service was first class.
Extraordinary service, impeccable presentation of dishes and perfect tasting food.
An absolutely fantastic dining experience!!! From the lovely and knowledgeable sommelier to the fantastic waitstaff... everything was perfection. We had the pleasure of having after dinner drinks in the bar area and loved that as well. This is our new go-to.
Thank you Chef Alain Verzeroli & team for creating a sublime fine-dining experience.
From the gorgeous interior design to the creative touches of the food, through excellent service, my girlfriend and I thorough-fully enjoyed our meal.
The 4-course menu priced at $155 is a great deal, and gives a chance to try 1 seasonal introduction (appetizer), 1 fish dish, 1 meat course, and 1 dessert. Add to that the amuse-bouche, different breads, palate cleanser, and post-dessert treats.
I recommend the Turbot dish, a cute play on the traditional 'battered fish' they serve in school cantines.
The lamb course was also sublime.
Hope to eat at Shun again soon.
Beautiful new restaurant in a convenient location. Started with a drink at the bar - very nice bartender! Dining room very modern and elegant. Quiet and relaxing meal. Inventive delicious food. Impeccable service. Definitely recommend for a special occasion.
Great food, great decor and great service.
I loved the crab appetizer and lobster and the pastry chef is great and artistic.
