The food was spectacular! Service was great. Love this place so much and will absolutely back again soon
Excellent service and food. Always has been best mandarin food in NYC.
We had an awesome time with out group of 11 at Shun Lee Palace. The service was awesome, they gave us a private party area so we were not bothered with the conversations of any other people and the food and service are always great. We will definitely come back!
amazing food and service - best of the best in midtown east
A ridiculous "has been" restaurant, whose best days are firmly behind it! Overly priced, uncaringly made food, and bad service... A mix of attributes to never go again! Even the Broccoli with garlic sauce was uneatable... it was a disgusting watery mix! A terrible experience overall...will certainly not repeat it!
5 star service from start to finish. Food was fantastic.
The staff are fantastic and helpful, but the kitchen needs Improvement. The menu needs some thought and the food is bad- thoughtless and badly presented
We have eaten here many times and the food was great as always. It was Valentines Day and they were busy. The service was terrible. We watched our food sit on the table 5 minutes while the sever was rolling duck for another table. Then when he was bringing food took it to two other tables who said it wasn’t there’s before serving it to us. Got the sauce for my appetizers as I was taking the last bite.
I came because of a good review on GQ, that told the duck was served in 3 steps (skin, meat and soup.
Instead, nothing of this. It was all in one. Meat, skin and very few scallions came rolled and lost in thick and no tasty pancakes, with only 4 tiny legs extremities served on the same plate with the pancake rolls stack. The rare pieces of skin and were very very good, almost perfect, but the way they serve it let you think they divide the meat and skin between you and another client while you ordered a full duck for yourself. And no soup at all. And the duck is 10 dollars more expensive than what appears on the website menu. Overall disappointing.
Excellent food and service. The staff will gladly tailor the dishes to your preference. Very kind and attentive service.
The waitstaff was in chaos, the Shanghai dumplings doughy, and the crispy sea bass totally without spice.Peking duck was fine. Valentine day may be some reason for the disaster . Will not return.
Service and food were amazing. I never experienced Chinese cuisine this good. Prices are very high, but worth it for a special treat.
Hadn’t been there in years but the food and service was as good as I remembered.
It was Monday of Restaurant Week Winter 2020, and we didn't have much hope for a meal much above "adequate". Restaurant Week tends to be that way.
WRONG! The evening was lovely. We had a choice of many appetizers, entrees and a few desserts. I had to stop for a slice after a Restaurant Week meal a few years ago, so when I ordered the Beijing Duck, I was expecting one pancake worth of food. When the entree arrived, there were three pancakes filled generously with the duck, cucumber, green onion and hoisin.
On top of that, the service was gracious and accommodating.
Not only was I exposed to a terrific, new (for me) restaurant, but this renewed my confidence in NYC Restaurant Week.
Service excellent, friendly.
Food very good for Restaurant Week Lunch.
Would return, thanks!
I will never return to this restaurant again. Horrible service, two employees screaming at each other in the kitchen disturbed the whole dining room - everyone went silent then it was carried out of the kitchen into the dining room. No apologies by anyone - terrible behavior. The food was greasy and unappealing. The decor was unattractive and felt old and outdated. A complete disconnect of a place. Sorry I went. Won’t return.
Overalll a great meal
I have been going to Shun Lee for 30 years. It was my favorite Chinese restaurant. Unfortunately, it has been deteriorating in recent years. I took my wife to Shun Lee during a trip to New York last week and the service was atrocious. After ordering, we were served our appetizer......then after an hour wait asked about our main course....we received a shrug from our waiter and we’re told that it was busy. We decided to leave and will never go back...was charged $88 for our appetizer, a glass of wine and a beer. I will never go back!
Not good. Food was cold and not particularly good. We won’t be back
Came for the lunar new year
Had the special....wonderful food and presentation
We booked Shun Lee Palace for Winter Restaurant Week. We were seated and the Captain handed us regular menus, but no Restaurant Week menus. I had to ask for Restaurant Week menus--and he said, "Oh, you want that." The food was very good, but my $26 lunch consisted of: 2 pan-fried dumplings (appetizer) and 6 shrimp in a plate full of sauce (entree) and about 1/3 cup of rice. Not a lot of food for $26. Just saying.
Probably my favorite Chinese restaurant. Fabulous and meaty ribs, and the best Peking duck; which is beautifully served on light, thin pancakes.
This was our first visit to the Shun Lee Palace. The food and service were excellent. We will definitely include another visit the next time we are in NYC. Thanks to the Shun Lee chefs and waitstaff for a job well done!!
Love this place - so good and authentic! Always enjoy eating here.
Not good food. Second time there in three months. Wanted to give it a second chance with different friends joining me. Same response as last time from them and me. Horrible food. Greasy, boring and expensive.
Shun Lee Palace
Old style Chinese food served by a dapper, attentive, polite and very polished captain (Thomas) and his pleasant waiters. The shrimp and vegetable dumplings were quite good. The sautéed broccoli was very tasty. The gluten free and diet options are appreciated, contemporary offerings and were very good despite the dietary restrictions (gluten free chicken breast or seafood with mixed vegetables are offered and are yummy). The lychee martinis are strong and very well made. The entire evening, the good food, the lovely, very attentive service and the old world ambiance were all great and very much enjoyed. Kudos to Shun Lee Palace!
I enjoyed the splurge dining at Shun Lee. We got the half duck appetizer and they acted like the 1/2 duck was not available when we ordered it but they would do me a favor and then offered the half duck to the people who sat after us without any comment of it not being on the menu or “that they would do it as a favor. Scratch head... it was $40 for 2 filled Pam ales each and that was a favor? . I was a little perturbed at that since we ordered another appetizers, drinks and a dinner entree with fried rice as well. It’s Chinese anyway you slice it but it was fun. Next time we’ll go to the Peking palace another street over.
Pricey, but food and service are consistently good.
We have visited Shun Lee Palace many times in the past and always enjoy our visit. On this most recent visit they were not at the top of their game. We look forward to a return to former heights.
We ordered spicy but it wasn’t. Very disappointing for the price.
This is my favorite fancy Chinese food in NYC. The service is fantastic and the food is beyond delicious. I look forward to every meal I have her.
There was an over $120 error on our bill. A bottle of wine which we did not order. We pointed this error out and were met with irritation. No apology. No regret. They did issue a corrected bill however.
Several in our party suffered upset stomachs after the meal. I cannot say girl certain it was fault of restaurant but have been going for years and now will never go back.
It is such a warm and fun place to eat. The staff is fantastic. Wine list superb. Many choices of classic Chinese food.
Very good service and food but a bit pricey.
Welcoming service from friendly staff. Food was excellent. We’ll be back to dine there soon.
If you are a Chinese Food snob(as I am) this is the place. It’s authentic, it is time tested and better done than than any other Chinese restaurant in NYC or anywhere.
Slow long wait for food
